View Full Version : Mahli? Amalia?
I love the name Mahli (Mar-lee) for a girl but hate it spelled Marlie, Marlee etc. I don't mind Marley, but i think that seems a bit masculine.
i think it would suit being a nickname for something rather than a full name - maybe Amali, Amalia, Malia, Mahalia???
Some of my other favourite names include
Mia, Molly, Ruby, Lilly
Finn, Kade, Talon, Rylan, Kiernan etc.
Any suggestions would be great. Thankyou

I like Mia, Molly, Ruby and Lilly :)
I like Finn too.
Kade, Rylan and Kiernan don't grab me, and Talon reminds me of rat poison!(sorry!).
I know a little girl Marley (named after Bob Marley - so it doesn't make any sense to me that in this particular instance they used it for a girls name).
But I think Mahli is polynesian for something, have you checked? Its prob quite a beautiful meaning as well :) . I also like Amalia: the classic Amelia was one of my favs, but I didn't like it with our surname.
Cheers

Talon actually is an eagles claw, which doesn't sound very good. I only found that out a short while ago and just last week i was in the supermarket and saw the rat poison.

I love the name Mahli, its beautiful, and the spelling is different too, which i'm partial to...And i reckon it sounds nice as an actual given name instead of a nickname...
I actually love the name Talon too, and when i hear it i don't think of the eagle's claw, just the big strong eagle itself...i didn't even think of rat poison! lol My next pick would be Finn...
love Mahli!! :) i have always liked this name, i think it is so pretty :)
I had a teacher named Amalia.
It's not very common, I'd never heard the name before then and I think it's feminine. And Malia or Lia is a really pretty nickname.

i posted this somewhere else today - i love the name Mahalia - which happens to be Jimmy Barnes' daughters name. My brother and his wife cosidered Marli for my niece but went with Alize' instead (Al-Liz-Zay)
I think Mahalia, Malia and Amali are lovely names - DH and i are into those differant sounding ones- hope that helps

its not changed as such - Tiena is the actually spelling of Tayna... The maori way - after great debate with my DH's parents and family on both sides we decided to go traditional..... and i got sick of Nga Waiata as a middle name (I always liked the name Sade' - even though there's a band withthe same name  )
Was suprised someone noticed lol

Yeah, i think that's a great name - really cute but could also suit an adult!
Perhaps Mailie/Maily (May-lee) and i also like Amali/a.
love the name Mahli sounds sweet. i agree that the other way of spelling it seems masculine (sp?) but i guess it all says the same thing huh?
anyways i really like the girls names you have picked.. Mia, Molly, Finn etc..!!
Great choices, which ever one you go with!
