My DD has shown indications that she knows when she needs to go the toilet - frequently gets out of the swimming pool to go and squat to wee. We have bought a potty and she loves sitting on it - with or without clothes but hasn't done anything in it yet.
Is she really ready and what should I do to start potty training?
Thanks,
I can't help you but I'm curious too, and have kind of started DS training (training pants at home, potty time etc). He walks up to me holding himself whenever he's doing a wee, and for the last couple of months he's gone to his corner to squat and poo.
On the weekend he brought his potty out into the living area and sat on it fully clothed. I wish I'd been on the ball, because 2mins later he was in his corner squatting :p
I started Jayce at 18mths as that's what suited him. The other two girls at his family daycare were completely potty trained by 18mths. Every child is different. Try it out, if it is too much for bub then try again in a few months. No harm in trying. :)
I would say to give it a go, and it you don't succeed, try again in a few months.. But I personally don't think its too young to try at all..
My little brother was toilet trained at 16 months - Helped by the fact that he had a 5 yr old brother he followed constantly and because riley was going to the toilet, leyton had to go to the toilet too.. Quite funny! :)
I've worked in the Toddler room at a day care centre for numerous years and toilet training was always lots of fun. Some children we had no dramas with, and others simply werent ready... They always used the toilet with a little seat and step, no potties and most of them grasped the concept fairly easily!

I wouldnt say no, as as everyone has indicated every child is different and she may be ready, give it a go, and be patient.....
My son was ready at that age, maybe younger, but he kept forgetting to let us know when he wanted to go, would only do it occassionally, but would tell us 'after' he had been to the toilet in his nappy...so we put it off for a while, and started when he wanted too.....
It sounds good to me, my boys were doing the same thing but were a bit older, it would be going fine one day then nothing for the next 2, definatley be patient. Another good observation if she is ready is if she staying dry over night. The boys would wee their nappies as soon as they woke up in the morning instead of thruout the night.
