Hi all

My life (for the last 7 months) has revolved around bub sleeping - she started waking at night when she was about 5 months old (before that she was awesome 7pm-5am)and I would Bfeed her...and she would go back to sleep on the breast.
Over a month ago i started back at work and couldnt deal with her waking 3-4 times a night so i tried to do some comforting without BFing...so when she would fully wake I would leave her for a little bit...then try and settle in the cot, then pick her up and offer water. Most times she would settle and go back to sleep.

But the thing is here we are over a month later and she is still waking...so I have gone back to BFing her...I am so clueless...what do you guys think? Does she still need this BF for milk?
I would rather her have milk than water if i am still going to be getting up...but i am tired...yawn...is this going to get better any time soon?

any ideas that i could use?

Thanks a mil
Michelle

Hi, I don't have any advice as I'm going through this at the moment too, well for the past few months, so will be interested to see what is said. Good luck.

hi michelle

yes it's frustrating isn't it! i've been working since emma was 3 months old and resorted to co-sleeping to get enough sleep. now at 7 months we moved her into her own room and have tried to reduce the number of night feeds and wakings, but it has gotten worse. now i actually have to get out of bed and sometimes it takes an hour to gether back to sleep as she is so used to falling asleep in our arms or being b/f back to sleep. we are slowly working at making the trip back to dreamland smoother.

go to the bookshop and buy some books or order on amazon - baby's got to learn to self settle - and it can be done w/out tears. it is a process that takes you a while, but you know the rewards you crave at the end - happy baby, happy family, time to yourself etc etc.

baby shouldn't need water or milk if she eats/drinks enough in the daytime. is she has a feed/sleep association try the pantley pull off - get no cry sleep solutions by elizabeth pantley - seems to work for a lot of people

good luck and keep at it
