Playgroups around Maitland/Cessnock area?

Hi Girls!

As we've just moved to the Maitland area, we're looking for a new playgroup. I went to a local one the other day but all the kids were 3 and under, and Dayne was a bit bored. He's 4.5 now and his last playgroup had about 8 boys that were around 4years old, so he's wanting one where there are boys his age to play with.

Anyone know of any good playgroups around the Maitland area that might have some new playbuddies for Dayne? I don't mind travelling a little to find a great one, but prob not to drive 30mins each way to a Newy one.

I've been on the Playgroup NSW website but they only list one Maitland one (although there is a Metford one too), but I know not all community playgroups are run through that organisation so I thought one of you girls might be able to help.

Any suggestions would be great!

Hi Kate,
There is a playgroup at Greta Multi Purpose Centre on a Monday morning from 9.30 - 11.30 am. I don't go myself, so couldn't tell you how old the kids are, but they are looking for people to go in term 2.
I can pm you with more info if you are interested. Greta is about 15-20 mins drive up the New England Highway from Maitland.

I might do what I did when we first moved to Melbourne: you know how you get 1 or 2 free sessions with each playgroup before you join? Well I spent two weeks going to a different playgroup each weekday, kind of like a playgroup crawl! It was really good, coz we could try out a whole bunch of them and see which one suited us, rather than just going with whichever we went to first.

So I might try that one next week! I have one to try for next Tuesday (was meant to go tomorrow but been in hospital today so better stay home :( ) so if I go to the Greta one too that will work out well!

Any more info anyone?

I go to Maitland playgroup but am about to pull out of the group as DD and I aren't enjoying it that much.
But that doesn't mean it won't suit you :)
It is in the middle of Maitland, near Woolworths.
I'll PM you the contact number tomorrow night incase it's not on the Playgroup site?

I've looked into that one and I've seen they have it there on two different days. We were thinking of the Tuesday one as Daynes in preschool on Thursdays. Which one have you been going to? If you could pm the details to me that would be great!
