Hi there, I'm new to Queensland and living in Calamvale and as yet, haven't met anyone who can advise me on a good childcare place for my 2 kids aged 2 and 4. Can anyone give me some advice?

Welcome to QLD! I'm in Brisbane!
My girl's don't go to care so sorry can't help ya there! But welcome anyhow!
Hi :) I live in regents park, not far from calamvale. My son goes to ABC Childcare in marsden, so maybe call their 1800 number and talk to them, they have centres everywhere. Or you could just go and have a look at the centres that are near your home, first impressions tell alot, especially if you turn up unannounced and ask to have a look around :) Thats what I did.

Thank you for the welcome and advice.
I decided to put them into Calamvale Childcare (actually, it was pretty much the only one that had a place!). But, it seems OK and the grown ups are all friendly - the kids... not sure yet!!!
So far, they've done OK on 3 days worth of trial, however, the letting go is hell - they cling onto me and scream... but only until I've gone.
Any advice on how to calm them down? I'm worried now that Jake will carry on crying even when he goes to school next year - he's always done it, and its not only really heartbreaking, but bloody annoying!!! :(
Any tips?
Hi again :) Glad you found a centre for your kids close by, I have a 10min drive to get to the one my son goes to. Anything to keep my sanity :p
You could try talking to him about why he cries and address whatever issues are raised, a star chart, tell them that u will stay for a certain amount of time, eg 1 story, then you are going home and say when you will be back. Very simple ideas, but sometime those are the ones that work the best :)
I have worked in childcare in the past and most kids seem to grow out of it by school age. Sorry i can't help you more, my son is 2yrs old and loves daycare so, apart from his first few weeks i haven't had any problems. Hopefully it stays that way ;)

Yep, we've done it all, from treats to threats!! he just hates being left. I am assured that 2 minutes after I've gone he's OK, and woopy doo - my daughter has started crying too. Just what I need to start off my day!
Actually, I'll give jake his dues - he didn't cry today, but sarah... oh my god.... she worse than jake was... actually, that's probably a lie - he was/is hell too. I hope you're right - I would hate for him to go to school and get teased for crying - he really is quite a sensitive little thing underneath all the imaginary/brick made guns and fighting!!
Doesn't creche instill such a vivid imagination!!!!!!

Hi I am going to be moving to the brisbane amberely area next year and was wondering which areas to stay away from and which ones are great. I will need to know about high schools, preschools, and K-6. My husband will be working at Amberley and I will be going to uni in brisbane. So any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Looking foward to hearing from you
