:wave:Hi

Having just watched corrie, emmerdale and about to watch eastenders it was then great to find this group! I have succumbed to foxtel for when I get homesick! Been here two years now and love it but still settling in!

Not met many from the UK in this area.

Hi

Have you seen there is a Newbie in Sydney has logged on today. There seems to be a lot of responses.Lots more in Sydney than up here. We are both from UK and my DH found work here just before we emmigrated. People often ask why we chose this area and that`s why. We had never heard of it...just the big cities!

I am an aussie but have been living in the UK with my english husband for the past 6 years.
We have a 3 year old boy and our second bubba is due at the beginning of August.

:)Roopee that is very sweet of you. I have found people very welcoming here. You miss the strangest things when you leave your own country.

Can anyone find marmite? I have converted to Vegemite quite well tho.

Looking for Farleys Rusks to start Amelia on but no one seems to have heard of them.....Farex has been mentioned????Will have to buy some and check it out!

If you buy the Farex (its a rice cereal-baby's first food sort of thing) dont be surprised if she spits it at you:laughing:. My kids have all hated it but heinz makes some that are flavoured which they seem to like a bit better.

On the Marmite thing- sorry, us Aussies are VERY protective of our Vegemite , i dont think the shops stock any other variations. I havent seen it around sorry.

Maybe when the other Newcastle Bubhubbians meet up soon you could all come along? Good way to meet people who are in the same position as you guys! I havent been to a bubhub meet yet but i plan to go soon-might even see you there!:yelclap:

Farex is like unto Milupa - only unflavoured. Tell a lie - they have some flavoured varieties for older babues (9+ months).

They don't have Farley's rusks here - well not the ones you mean. They have teething rusks but they are hard stick-like things, not the soft(ish) biscuit.

And Vegemite is actually nicer than Marmite ... about the only Aussie thing that is :p

Hi Millymoo
Just catching up,sorry to hear you have been having lot's of wakeful nights, hope you get some more sleep soon.
Yes,I am having this bubba at John Hunter I am seeing the midwives there for all my antenatal care and have been really happy there so far.
I have to say you were very brave emigrating to Australia without ever visiting.I met my hubby whilst he was travelling in Australia, and he has visited loads of times so he was ok about emigrating.
Afraid I can't help you about the marmite,I can't stand vegemite or marmite!
I will pop over to the hunter board and say hi, it would be great to meet others in Newcastle and come to a meetup.
Hi Roopee I am in New Lambton as well, only been here 2 months but seems like a really nice area.

Hi Fi73:wave:

Have you popped into Hunter site yet?

Meant to ask you what bought you to New Lambton and where you lived in London. I lived in Maida Vale for a while when I was 19, had a gap yr.

My middle daughter goes to a school near you...Hunter School Performing Arts..and there is a great baby shop in New Lambton and coffee shop...in like a courtyard...the name has gone from me as I am sooooo tired.

Hi Millymoo
Had my parents staying for a few days so have only just had time to get back on the computer.
Hope you had a good weekend.Did you celebrate English mothers day?
I know that cafe you mean in New Lambton haven't been there yet but will defenitely try it soon, have also been into the childrenswear shop they have some lovely stuff, If I have a girl this time I'm sure I will be in there spending up.
How does your daughter like that school, was she ok about moving to Australia?
We just chose New Lambton, as a few people at my hubby's work mentioned that it was nice area for families so we drove around thought it looked nice and found somewhere to rent.Hopefully we can buy a house soon, we are still waiting for our house sale in the UK to go through, it has been going on for ages.

Great to see you back Fiona!

I had my parents over for 3 mths(!) when Amelia was born and I didn`t get a minute and spent a fortune!

It was too much really!

:eek:Did not know it was UK Mothers Day so must ring Mum and grovel. I spoke to her as well. She didn`t mention it! We tend to stick to the Aussie one that way she gets two as my bro celebrates the UK one with her.

Rosie loooves that school. Fran goes to Warners Bay High as we rented there on arrival but could not afford to buy the size we wanted there. You are in a nice area.

How is bump? It`s been abit hot lately so hope you ok with that.

Take Care

Helen

Hi Millymoo

Thought I would pop in and say hi, we have had a busy few days here so haven't been on the computer much.
We had our 20 week scan on Wednesday, everything was great, we decided not to find out the sex.My ds was really excited to see the bubba on the screen.
Today was my son's first day at preschool, he was so excited he has never been to preschool before so of course I am worrying and am dying to ring up and see how he is getting on.I just hope he is having a fun time.
Still meaning to get over to the hunter site and introduce myself, will really have to make an effort.Meant to ask do you go to any playgroups/mothers groups at all?
Hope you have a lovely weekend.
Fiona

:wave:Hello

Great to hear from you again. I was wondering where you had got to!

Glad the scan went well. I had quite a few in the end. We were never going to find out the sex but did at the last minute! I always knew it would be another girl!

How was pre school? What a big day! We had one too...Amelia sat on her own so pics have been emailed home immediately! Technology is fab when you live away from your nearest and dearest.

I am struggling with playgroups. Will try and research better. If any one finds a good one around I would travel to it from Lake Maqquarie, eg Newcastle.

I know you are an Aussie but don`t you thinkit is hot lately! We are melting!

Day in the pool for us

Hope to chat soon

Helen

Hi
I can't believe this silly weather, it has been boiling hot,I think I got really used to the weather in the UK so it is a shock coming back.Today though it is cold and raining, we were supposed to be going on a big easter picnic with people from my hubby's work but it has been cancelled.
My hubby insists when we buy a house it has to have air conditioning, and now we want a pool!
Preschool went well, he didn't even miss me, I think there were a few issues with sharing toys, buy hey I think that is typical for every 3 year old.
I haven't found a playgroup yet, I may just wait until this bubba arrives and then look for one.I do take my DS to kindergym which he really enjoys.
Have a great rest of the weekend
Fiona

Hi Fiona

I have heard of these kindygyms so will have to give them a go when Amelia older! I now know to look for playgroups for her as in the UK a playgroup is somewhere you drop them off once they are about 3!! It`s a different language sometimes!Glad yr DS had gd time!

I am loving the weather today. To sit typing and not sweat buckets is fabulous for me! And an extra hr too. DH made me sleep in today so that was lovely. I am very tired really as Milly wakes every 2-3 hrs.

It is essential to have air con! We actually use it very little but like to have it there. We only have a little plunge pool/spa but it is enough and great to take bubba in!

How do you and DH find the night life here? I know we are both not in a position to " large it" at mo, you been preg and me with new bub and BFing but wen we first arrived we found it bit dull. Foreshore has since had a revamp though. Leeds was great at night and having lived in London ...well it is great too. I miss wine bars.:crying: Me and my gal pals used to have a scream! They still do and send pics regularly. We couldn`t really afford to settle in Sydney though. It is also great for family here so I guess we have to weigh it all up

Have good rest of the day. How is bump?

Helen x

Hi Millymoo

Hope you are having a good day, we have just been to see the Tweenies do a little show at Kotara westfield, which was fun.
Luke loves the kindergym,I think they do a babygym from 6 months of age as well.
It is defenitely nice to have some cooler weather isn't it.
I admit when my hubby first got offered a job in Newcastle I was really worried, thinking it would be really quiet and boring as we really wanted to move to Melbourne. We have only been out a few times when I can get someone to babysit, we went to see Little Britain at the entertainment centre last month and out for dinner at a nice restaraunt in Hamilton the other weekend, those restaraunts down at the foreshore look nice and I am looking forward to trying them out.
Do your older girls babysit Amelia so you can go out much?
Like you say Newcastle is great for families and alot cheaper for buying a house than say Sydney.
Anyway better go Luke is here hassling me so he can go the cbeebies website, he was so upset when we first moved and he realised there was no cbeebies here!
