I know all you cloth mums will appreciate it when I do my little jiggy dance and celebrate the fact that I'm so happy my daughter is in full-time cloth!! :smiliedance: We had our first day today in childcare in cloth and of course, everyone went ga-ga over the nappies (I like Bumgenius at the moment, especially as it's AIO and easy for the staff to slip on and off for changing). But I have to report (sadly) that she is the only baby in the whole centre wearing cloth full-time. If only we could educate the whole world to the beauty and benefits of cloth.... I still feel so much guilt for procrastinating this long about getting my full stash. But from now on (and with any future babies!) it's cloth all the way!

:yelclap:Good for you!I think it has a lot to do with people (like myself until I converted) sticking their heads in the sand and going for the 'easier' option.

I know I would like more people in my area to get into cloth. My long day care centre that Jordan goes to they use posies. Mind you they only take kids from the age of 2 and up. So most of the kids are tt.

Thats great!

I love it that our daycare actually use cloth nappies, and they were pretty impressed when I showed them Mason's MCN!

That's so great, Shannon!!

After I had stopped using terry flats on Ronan when he was about 6 months (I didn't know about not chemically treating nappies, using anything other then pvc pilchers and his ezcema went haywire) we were a disposable nappy family right up to when Ariene was 4 months old.

When I was doing the rounds of ALL our local child care centres, I noticed that NONE of the centres allowed cloth nappies to be used on the children there. I'm serious. It was in all the literature/brouchers I went through one evening.

Of course part of the reason was that a particular child care chain also owns a disposable nappy company (you know who I mean), and that chain had brought out many of the independant, local centres. I wasn't even using cloth and still that stood out as very wrong.

OMG  Thats disgusting, surely that has to against the law, conflict of interest or something. Whats the difference if you are taking them home to wash?

I know I looked into about 8 childcare centres here, and they all wouldnt use cloth because according to them they are unhygenic. Even when I explained they just had to put them in a bag.

YAY -Shannon - well done! DD is the only kid at our centre wearing cloth too! most of the staff are pretty impressed with the MCN, but the younger girls that are in charge of the nursery are grossed out when she does a poo and they have to 'tip' it into the toilet. Too bad for them!!

hmm - that is interesting (if it's the chain that I am thinking of that everyone always complains about :D ) As DD goes to one of their centres and the director had no probs with cloth (even when she thought i meant terry flats that needed soaking). Maybe i have just gotten lucky!!

I think I have also gotten lucky. When I first asked the directors about it they were soooo enthusiastic! It was almost like they were waiting for someone to come along and save them from the huge amount of waste the centre creates. Just imagine how much rubbish they must have each day if each baby and toddler is changed four times a day! This morning one of them was showing my daughter off to everyone who walked in saying "Check out Laura's new nappy!" I was soooo chuffed! :smiliedance:

Can I ask if you use flushable liners?

I'd love to put ds in cloth at daycare put I'm too chicken to ask.

and I'd need to beef up my stash first too.

Nope... only when I know she's going to poo (you know, the grunting, and groaning starts). I suppose I could offer them to the centre, but they haven't complained about cleaning up poo - they have a lot of other yucky things to do so it's just part of the job. There's one kid there that ALWAYS has a runny nose, and another kid who dribbles constantly. The other thing is that the poo doesn't really stick to the nappy, it's easy to pull off in one go with a tissue and put it in the toilet. I'd rather not have that extra expense of liners.

You are really good! I've approached DS's day care, and they're happy to deal with MCNs, but I can't bear the thought of a pooey nappy sitting in his bag all day! :o Although its just occured to me that I could buy a seperate tote, etc to keep them in throughout the day ...

Although I'm not in a position to talk (we only just converted after My Planet stopped recycling), I show off DS's Happy Heiny's at Mum's Group and everyone goes crazy about them, then asks how much they cost, then go quiet! I start to comment that they're cheaper than sposies in the long run, but they're already started on the next conversation ...

Babyjoy... what about if she does a massive poo, do you then get a pooey liner to bring home?

Only asking cos DD is in cloth at daycare, but we've been using flushable liners (we use fleece at home) and they've given her a rash. I want to use fleece at daycare but I just know that if the poo doesn't just tip into the toilet they'll give it back to me! (they dont have a little squirt, DD is the only one in cloth)

:smiliedance: :yelclap: for you and your daycare centre!!!!!

We also use cloth at daycare and they have never had a problem with it. Sadly we are the only family in the centre who uses cloth  However, I have spied the Ecobots sposies in the babies room and they are brought in by a mum for her baby, which is great!

The centre supplies it's own sposies (NOT ecofriendly  ) and the cost is just included in the fees, but we don't get a discount even though we're using our own nappies, which sucks. But it's a price I'm willing to pay to have my bubba in cloth!
