Just wondering if anyone has become pregnant while brestfeeding.Is it a high possibility or not.Thanks for your thoughts

It depends on whether or not you ovulate. I cue fed my son from birth (still do LOL) and began Oing and bleeding again when he was 5 months old. I'm now pregnant. It's really individual. Go to http://www.woomb.org for info on fertility and lactation.

I fed my son wherever, whenever, from birth, and he is still feeding now, I got my periods back at 5 months, (snap, Janet :p ) and we took 4 months to concieve from when he was about a year old.
It is a pretty individual thing, and I think the first advice mums are usually given, if they are having a bit of trouble, is to try to cut down night feeds, to see if that starts triggering ovulation.

I was breastfeeding DS1 who was 6 months old when I fell pg with DS2 ! (AF had only returned for two cycles prior to this).

So, yes in answer to your question!

I got my period back when my first son was 3 weeks old, it was very irregular (every 2 weeks) for a while. I got pregnant with my 2nd son when no. 1 was 3 months old. My first son was exclusivly breastfed at the time.

This time around, i got my period 5 weeks after my son was born.

Hi everyone, just reading this thread reminded me to ask a Q. I have been BF my year old son and he still has a bedtime and morning feed although I have only had my period for 4wks directly after the birth and not since do you think I should be worried not having it for almost a years now? :confused:

Bianca your just one of the lucky ones :)

I didn't have a period for the first two years after giving birth to number 3.

And yes, if you ovulate you can get pregnant while breastfeeding.... I'm 25 weeks pregnant and still breastfeeding my 3 year old. I think it's very likely I'll be tandem feeding!
