1mth, I kid you not, it does happen, there have been a few on here to have fallen preg not long after giving birth and have only had a 12mth age gap, its quite common to fall preggy while b/f'ing, and it does happen as early as a mth after birth

You can get pregnant as soon as you start ovulating again. Some women start ovulating regularly well before their period returns. But breastfeeding can work as contraception as long as you don't go longer than 3 hours between feeds (or pumps).

Just know that some women find that the mini-pill can mess around with your milk supply...

have you had af return yet?? even if you havent it is very possible to fall while breastfeeding... its not very protective alone... but with the minipill it is.

I thought it was the combined pill that can mess up the milk supply, and the mini is fine with breast feeding, I spose everyone is different though and reacts to drugs differently

My two boys are very close in age. i got pregnant while breast feeding, and the first sign of me being pregnant was charlie not wanting to feed from me (cos the hormones make your milk taste funny.). I was happy top have them close together that's why we didn't use contraception, however I hadn't had any sign of a period when I fell.

Hi there
Yes apparently there can be all sorts of complacations with your uterus and stuff and its not good for your body and it should be at least 12-18 months to recover but its up to the individual's no one else i think.:)

mumbron you don't need for af to arrive before you can take the mini pill, you can take it now

dragonflyblu like mumbron said there can be complications with having babies to close together, although most people seam to have fine pregnancies one after the other, other people don't

I exclusively fed my daughter around the clock and fell pregnant when she was 12 weeks old despite this..... and for the TMI factor in those 12 weeks we were only intimate 3 times so DD2 REALLY wanted to come into the world! lol

Needless to say, we have been INCREDIBLY careful since DD2's birth and I would never EVER really on breastfeeding as contraception again!

A girl I met in mothers group fell pregnant again 2 weeks after giving birth. Odds are agaisnt that happening to a lot of women - but it is stilla possibility.

It was 9 weeks for me between #1 and #2, and #3 and #4...so it is possible...I met a woman once who had 2 siblings that were within 18months of her, so there was her sister, 10 months later her, then 9 months later (he was 4 weeks early) came her lttle brother.
:fingerscrossed: that you are not up the duff...best get that mini pill sorted:) .

my sister and i are 11 months and 2 weeks apart and mum was BF at the time so my sister would have been about 3 months old i think, maybe younger :D

we weren't using contraception as it took 12 months to fall pg the first time & wanted another bub sooner. anyway i got pg with DS#2 whilst weaning DS#1 off bf, they're 16 months apart & it happened again when weaning DS#2 off bf, but i had a m/c in november & are hoping we'll fall pg soon!

Ever so slightly OT, but a friend of mine had her OB tell her she did not have to worry about contraception after birth until after the return of her first period!!!
Unbelievable!! Did he get his medical training out of a weeties pack? Or is it his way of drumming up business??

And I bow down to those of you who had babies very close in age, i don't know how you managed!!

Personally, I would leave it until my baby was at least 12 months, just to let my body recover a bit...but as this thread has well and truly proven, it is definitely possible very quickly after giving birth.

i didnt realise people cousl get pregnant so soon after giving birth but i overheard a lady last week at m antenatal appointment who said she felt pregnant less than a month after she gave birth.

i guess it does and can happen so soon.
