Hi everyone
My bub has just started on solids, very messy business but exciting too!

What do you do with the bibs/clothes/cloth nappies with food bits on them?
Do you soak or just leave in a bucket and then chuck in the wash?

At the moment I'm soaking them in napisan and hot water in a bucket until the bucket gets full enough for a load in the washing machine.

How do you get rid of the food stains? Any advice would be great. I've just been reading about dry pailing dirty nappies so I guess this would work for food stains to?

Thanks

I rinse the chunky stuff off first & if its something that might stain like Pumpkin, Carrot etc then spray it with a stain remover. Then i soak them in the cheap Coles Brand Nappysan type stuff :) Its worked so far.

I was having the same issue, so I bought some soft plastic bibs from Woolworths to use for solids. You can just wipe with hot soapy water and they are like brand new!

Hi All
I don't bother soaking, sometimes if there's huge chunks I may pull them off before washing but most times not. I find that most stains come out with a prewash stain remover (but I also chuck the napisan liquid in with my "kiddie" washes too).

The only stains I've really had trouble with are some of the fruit ones ... no idea for them.

I don't bother treating any stains or soaking and wash DS's clothes every second day. I've got a great frontloader, use OMOmatic, wash on warm and haven't had any stain issues on DS's clothes. Not even avocado or banana. The trick is to use a good quality washing powder and warm water because most of the 'cleaning power' is activated with heat.

I have found that soaking them in napisan is the cheapest and easiest method OR I also use Sards wonder soap on the stain and then chuck it in with the load of washing.

Thankyou for all your responses. I think I'll try rinsing the food off first, I'm a bit lazy and just put them in a bucket to soak straight away. Thanks for all the tips. Most appreciated! :)
