Has anyone been told they have this?? if so can you tell me what/or if you had complications with birth??

I had my scan yesterday and the guy who was doing told me that i had an "inverted Uterus"... well i am 98% positive he did... and i didn't think much until i looked it up today..... and i am now little worried.
I don't go to my GP until another 2 weeks...

Any advise greatly appreciated....

Do you think he may have said retroverted???? I have a retroverted uterus, it just means the uterus tilts back instead of forwards.
Doesn't cause any problems with pregnancy or anything else.

Yeah I have this - it's just harder for them to get decent ultrasounds initially - the sonographer was saying that 3% of women have it and it's no difference - it's just like saying you are left handed or something.

And no - no difference with birth, pregnancy or anything and like Lunar says it's just the uterus tilting back instead of forwards.

It's retroverted - and it's actually about 20% of women that have it. It's really, really common.

I have it and no problems getting pregnant or having my babies. It's not considered an abnormal finding, it's just something they usually comment on.

An inverted uterus is an entirely different thing and if you had that trust me you would know about it. That doesn't happen until during birth and is a very, very serious complication. You're all good ;)

Another retroverted uterus here!!!

I found out years ago when I had an internal ultrasound thanks to an abdominal injury!!

Interesting to know... and as Emmylou said tis reasonably common....

Doc did mention it could have contributed slightly to bub remaining posterior.... and also to back pain during periods.....

Another one here too and the only thing that I can say is the disadvantage is during internal examinations it's sometimes trickier to find the cervix so a bit more uncomfortable but we discovered mine at my first pap smear. For birthing the cervix isn't on the side anymore as the tilting disappears as the pregnancy progresses.

I am retroverted too, I had heard it was about 1 in 3, so it isn't that uncommon.

Same as the others have said, often have to have an internal u/s early in pregnancy or when not pregnant. It is nearly impossible to have a CVS (if you need one). Had a posterior bubba.

I have this too and again it is only a problem with internals, but my doctor said to mention it to any going " up there" as it is tricky and they like to know. Dreading coil fitting in April!

I have a retroverted uterus, the only problems i have had are when the midwives were trying to do an examination and trying to find my cervix, and also when the doctor couldnt get the Mirena put in i have to be knocked out because otherwise it will be too painful for me.
