My dd for the past 2 weeks has been really fussy with her bottles. She's just over 4 months old and weighs 7.3kg. She has been only drinking average 530mls a day. I took her to the gp ( she said she's putting on weight and seems fine other wise) but I am quite concerned. She should be drinking over 800ml at her age and weight!! Even after sleeping 10hrs she only takes 60mls in the morning  Does anyone have any experience with this?? Any suggestions? Should I get a second opinion? Oh and I forgot to add she use to be such a guzzler with her bottles. She use to drink 150mls every 3 hrs. Isnt there appetite suppose to increase not decrease

Hi there
At around 5 months my DD started to do the same thing. Turned out that she wasn't getting the milk fast enough from the teat so I changed to a bigger one and it pretty-much fixed the problem. Have you tried that? If they have to work to hard to get the milk from a teat that's too small they get frustrated and give up.

I tried with a bigger wholed teat this morning but same thing, Anyway this morning I found her 2 front teeth coming in!! So is it normal for them to go off milk when their teeth come in?? Any good tips on wat to do? She's only 4 months!
My DS is just over 4months as well and at last weigh in was 7.85kg. He also is not a big eater and never has been. Probably only manages about 600mls a day as well. He also can go 10hrs overnight and then only have a tiny feed too. As long as she is putting on weight I wouldn't be concerned at all. I never go by the tin and even the 150ml per kg calculation isn't something to go by with us either as he is only having half of that!
It might be her teeth as well. When my DD was teething I didn't tend to notice a difference in her eating but each baby is different.
Goodluck with it but I honestly think unless her weight becomes an issue I wouldn't worry about it at all.

Hi there
If your bub is teething that may well be the reason for her loss of appetite. I would give her a few days to settle down. Try some bonjela on her gums for pain relief and some baby panadol if she is in a lot of discomfort. Hopefully her appetite will return soon. :fingerscrossed:
