Hi Ladies,
I had an implanon impant put in about 3.5months ago and have had nothing but trouble. I have spotting pretty much all the time and really want this thing out.
Can any ladies that have had implanon and had it removed tell me what it is like? Does it hurt when it is taken out? And does it bruise as badly as it did when they inserted it? Does it require a stich afterwards?
I am pretty nervous about having it out as you may be able to tell!
Fanx in advance! :)

Hey there,
I totally hear you. I had implanon in and couldnt stand it, i had af the whole time, so after 5 weeks i had it removed, they put a local in to numb the area before hand and then they take it out, i did feel it coming out though and it was a bit painfull, the doctor was going to put 1 stitch in my arm but i didnt want it so i had a closure put on the cut with a bandage around it, i did bruise and it lasted about 3 weeks  , ive had it out for about 8 weeks and the area is still tender, ive also got two scares from it, ive been rubbing bio oil on the area so the scares fade as they dont look to nice. Hopefull it all goes well for you, and just cause i felt it doesnt mean you will. Best of luck and i will never recommend it to anyone.

Well i had mine removed as i gained weight, they numbed the area but had trouble trying to remove it, they thought maybe because i gained weight that it had moved deeper down, anyway they tried a few time and it needed to be renumbed a few times and i could feel it. Wasn't too pleasent as it took about 1/2hr to actually remove it then it was bandaged up i have two unpleasent scars about a cm long. I had it removed about 4yrs ago. I hope i haven't scared you everyone is different.

Dont mean to make you guys Green but I had an implanon in for 2 1/2 years and had no problems. Although there was a lot of spotting on and off over the first 5 months, then it settled down and AF didn't arrive at all. It was great!
Came off it to go on the pill for a few months before TTC. I hope it gets better for you!
Cheers,
as long as you can feel your implanon it takes a little nick to remove it. I think only one stitch.
Mine went missing and needed to be taken out under the guidence of an ultrasound. it still only took one stitch...
it was the 3 stitches from the doctor who decided to 'dig' for it to begin with that got me.
mine didn't bruise, had 2 stitches and was glad to be rid of the thing

I had no problems with it at all. No bleeding, weight gain, headaches - nothing. Had to get it taken out for other reasons. Didn't feel it come out and got one stitch. Can't even see the scar.

Thanks for all the replies!
I am hoping it is relatively easy to remove as I have only had it for a little while. Can't wait for my body to return to normal....
Just hope I don't fall pregnant with condoms....implanon was basically my only option as I have PCOS.
Thanks again! :)

I had my implanon removed as we are thinking of having kids sometime soon... I found that it was only the local anasetic that really hurt then came out like in less than 5mins! I watched youtube videos that just freaked me out, wasn't have as bad!
So don't stress! Should be fine!:smiliedance:

I had implanon in for 6 years, so went through 2 removals. Neither time caused me any troubles, no need for stitches or anything. I had a great experience with implanon although I do wonder if it was part of the reason it took 15 months to conceive this baby. Once bub is born I will definitely be thinking about getting another inserted.

I have had about 4 of them removed over 8 years..
The needle they give you to numb your arms hurts the most. I did feel it sliding out, but it didn't really hurt, no stitches or busing. I bused really bad when it went it
You could feel my implanon and it took more then a little nick. Took 35min to dig it out of my arm, apparently they couldnt find it...then it was incased in a thick membrane or something :(
i have cut in my arm about 1cm and its still tender and the bruising is still there. I had it taken out last thursday. Only had it in for about 11 months
