Just wondering when you started washing your bubs clothes with normal washing powder and not with Softly etc? :detective:

always washed DS clothes in normal washing powder...plan to do the same thing with this baby too unless an allergic reaction occurs.

Before they were born :D

As soon as it's obvious that bubs doesn't have any sensitivity issues, skin sensitivities etc, then just use the same as for all the other laundry.

I use Lux for both of my girl's clothes. I have occasionally used normal washing powder but I prefer Lux- not cause of allergies I just like the smell :D

I used lux for zach til he was 1, and then for bella til she was about 8 months.... but for Sav I think I only washed her clothes before birth in it and then after she was born just in normal powder but we use omo sensitive anyway so never had any problems

I wash DD's clothes in the same stuff our clothes are washed in but add softener aswell. I add softener to all the loads of washing now. Makes everything smell nice and a lot softer.

My ds had a reaction when he was born but have been washing his clothes in the normal wash for about 2 months.

Josh's clothes go in with the normal wash, so they are washed with dynamo. i've started using fabric softener as someone here recommended it to help with the 'baby chuck' smell. it works well. If i had to wash his clothes separately i'd go mad - there are enough loads of washing as it is!

Softener is a petrochemical and leaves a coating of plastic on the clothes which makes them feel softer. If you want the softness without the chemicals try 1/4 cup of vinegar in the rinse water occasionally. If you're worried about bubs skin sensitivity then softener should be avoided.

I use Planet Ark which is a chemical free detergent, fully biodegradable, non allergenic. I use 1 dessertspoon/load. I don't, and have never, washed bubs clothes separately to our clothes. I put nappies in with loads of clothes aswell.

If you're worried about detergent being in clothes still, do an extra rinse. The sun will sanitise the clothes aswell, so there's no need for chemical sanitising rinses.

Keep it basic and as natural as possible. If a product is harsh for a baby why is it when they get to a certain age we suddenly have to use harsher products. Why can't we as adults use kinder products? Just a thought:)

Oh, and if you're using Lux or any other soap for washing clothes you need to remember you should do a hot wash of the tub every now and again (without clothes). Soap builds up in the washing machine and can seriously damage it.
I used to make my own using Lux, but it leaves a build up on nappies making them less absorbant so I stopped making it. It smelled really nice aswell as I added lavender and tea tree oil.

Sw33tn3ss - I know that certain soap smell. It's Sunlight soap. It smells horrid. My Df's mum uses it with her twin tub. When we stayed with them at xmas I would take our clothes into my mums to wash them because I just can't stand the smell of the clothes after MIL's washed them!!
