Hi my DD is almost 6 weeks old and is generally a very happy placid baby - But she seems to have a problem with breaking wind! We have her on the infacol drops as she wasnt bringing up much wind. Now we find she is waking up in the night when she passes wind, we can hear her grunting and groaning followed by many "blow offs". She often cries as shes passing wind and sometimes stiffen up and arch her back. Is there anything that can help ?? She is still going only around 3 hours at a time at night as I think its the wind waking her up. She is fully bottlefed on S26 Gold as I was unable to breastfeed.
Any advice would be great
Thanks
Hi april83,
Congratulations on the birth of your bub :), and thanks for contacting our organisation. I'm sorry, but I can't say whether your bub has reflux, though it sounds like possibly the issue is colic or a food intolerance, as opposed to reflux. Even so, I do always believe that a mother's instincts are worth listening to, and I would recommend talking to a doctor, just to make sure .
Reflux can present in many different ways, so even though it doesn't present typically, it doesn't mean it isn't. so, on that note, I can't say whether it is or isn't reflux, sorry.
Could it be that the formula she is on doesn't agree with her? Sometimes that can cause wind issues as well.
I wish you well as you try to find answers for your daughter. Please keep listening to your instincts as they are there for a reason.
Glenda
