I've just read through some of the other threads that first - time mums have posted, and its reassuring in a way - but I'm still scared! :o
Last night, while sitting on the couch, I got some really sharp pains quite low down (felt like it was near the pubic bone) and lots of braxton hicks - which came really close together. Then, this morning, more braxton hicks - and I thought at one stage my waters were going to break! Plus I'm hot and sticky (cause its so muggy) and tired.
My dh has been so supportive. He was all ready to rush out and buy nappies and all the other little things we don't have yet. :) He's such a sweetie! He's doing his best to calm me down, but I just feel.....I don't know. Scared, vunerable, tired, emotional, and oh so hot!!! :p
Only 6 weeks to go.... wonder if bub's has decided it'll be less than that tho?

Be scared, but not too scared!!!
How exciting for you!! you are going to see your bubba soon hopefully!
Labour and birth is definitely scary, but its not actually a bad experience. Just scary cos you never know what is going to happen... perhaps scary isnt the right word, its exciting, like your first play in year one when your parents all come, you are so excited that you have butterflies!!
I make it sound horrid!
It isnt horrid, its lovely when you look back on it and remember how it all happened. Get hubby to remember in great detail, and write it all down for you, so you can re-read it, and give it to bubba later...
Oh and dont forget the chocolate when he goes to buy nappies!!!
Good Luck!!

I know the feeling you mean... That's been happening to me for about 4 weeks (bh's, sharp pains & wondering if h2o's are gonna go!) I've still got 2 weeks left to go... I dont think I will go early. Probably coz I went 2 days over with CJ. Plus bub isn't fully engaged yet.
Well Iit's pretty norm to be a bit scared & nervous... but it only last for a day!! And the pure joy of holding your little miracle in your arms FAR outways the pain... you'll be fine!! If I can do it... ANYONE can!!!
Good luck!!

I think the best thing you could do for yourself is getting as much info as possible and look forward to meeting your baby. ;)
Sorry, I can't give much good advice. I think it is all the anticipation of the unknown, that is always scary!!! :o

its "normal" to be a little scared, tired, vanurable at this stage!
Well at least I hope it is because Thats how I have been feeling the last few weeks.... :D
If you ever get really worried just call the hospital and speak with them!
You will be fine and just remember what ever happens happens!
You will be a mum soon and that is the most rewarding thing in the world!
Good luck!

Yup like everyone has said its normal to be scared anxious etc. As ive said before on other threads i think i cried everyday for the last month. I was always uncomfortable & had painful B/H. Its all worth it though & when you get handed bubs for the first time well nothing can compare let alone describe it !
All those niggles are your bubby & body getting ready for it all & maybe it will happen early but who knows just make sure you keep us informed !!!! :D
Like TanUch said try & be prepared in the way of clothes & nappies etc as you can get caught out & make sure you have a bag packed this is waaaay more important !
Also dont go too crazy with the smaller sized baby clothes as they grow quick ! or like me i had a bubs that went straight into 000 & within two weeks was into a lot of 00 so we still had to race around & get clothing as that was the last thing we expected ! Get plenty of differing sizes. Likewise with nappies bubs lasted 2wks in newborn nappies i had to return all the boxes we got as gifts ! Have enough on hand to get you through the first week at least that way even if your not up to going out & getting whats needed someone else can.
Not much more i can say we all go through the worries & emotions so we know how you feel & are excited for you because we know what lays ahead try & relax for now cause you will soon need all your energy !
You will look back later & laugh about it all.

I know that later I probably will look back and laugh, but today is just so hard. DH has a bug of some kind, so while he's trying to look after me, he's not feeling so crash hot either. And cause I can see he's not feeling well, I get all stressed out, which makes him worse, which makes me worse..... :(
Thank you all for trying to reassure me, and Brooke and Becky, as bad as this might sound - at least now I know I'm not the only one! :o iykwim.
Thanks all, and Mummy-2-2 - chocolates are definatly on the list! ;)

How wonderful that your body and your baby are preparing for birth! Ain't nature miraculous?! You know, less than 5% of babies come at 40 weeks, but about 70-80% are born between 41-42 weeks. Term is anywhere bubs decides to come from 38-42 weeks so postdates isn't really until AFTER 42 weeks. Maybe it's time to make sure you're really practiced with your relaxation techniques and have a great birth plan in place?
I hope you can relax and just enjoy those hormones pumping through you. Here's to beautiful birth! :D
