Thought I'd put this here, seeing as though we love talking about our fluffy mail!

Is anyone else on a first name basis with their postie ???? Mine always asks how things are and what's going on!! :D ... the one that delivers the parcels, that is ...

He made a comment the other day about having to work when it's such a lovely day ... and I pointed out that I was keeping him in a job, which of course, he totally agreed with!

What's your postie like???

Yeah i often have a good chat with our delivery guy.. we are on first name basis :o Good 'ol Brad, i love him to bits!! Only because he brings me fluffy mail. He drives up the driveway and beeps making it known that he's here.

DH likes to joke around and say things like "So, did you see your fling today?" or "so how's Brad today?"

I have a PO box so I need to go into the Post Office to collect my Fluffy Mail, but they are lovely people (Husband & Wife own Post Office). Live next door to my parents so its a first name basis!

I have 2 - a parcel postie and a bike postie who just brings the letters. Never spoken to the bike postie, but the parcel postie now beeps his horn as he's pulling up out the front to let me know he's there, then I just go out on my balcony (we're elevated ground floor) and he hands the parcels up to me rather than having to buzz the intercom and come up the stairs. It's pretty funny really .

If I don't come out he'll buzz, if I don't answer he'll throw the parcel up onto the balcony for me (unless it seems breakable of course)

I'm sure he wonders what the hell I am doing to be getting so many parcels - between fluffy mail and eBay I've been getting so many deliveries lately! I'm sure he'll miss me when I go back to work in a month LOL.

Growing up in a farming community, our postie used to leave Easter eggs at our doorstep for us as kids :D
This suburban life is different... He ignores me if I say 'good morning' if I'm out the front. We accidently parked on the front strip close the mailbox once :o and his motorbike's handlebars scratched up the side of the car

ohhh I love this thread!!

My DH always makes comment that DD must be the postie's because she looks nothing like him! lol

My postie rocks (well my parcel man) he comes at exactly 7.15am in the morning, so if I am expecting fluffy mail I make sure I am half dressed instead of running around in undies and my night singlet with no bra!! lol he hasnt caught me out yet :fingerscrossed: We always have a chat and a joke about how he keeps getting new machines for when you have to sign for something. If I'm not home or in the shower and you have to sign, he signs for me...pops it over the gate so its safe and locked in too. One day, my son who is 4 came into the shower and told me the postie had been and he told me he had to sign!! lol (my son got told off for answering the door even though its still gated)

ANother time he came late in the afternoon and I didnt recognise him and said 'your not my usual man are you??' I think he thought it was funny thank god.

So yeah, I know my postie pretty well and he knows me...I often wonder what goes through their mind when they constantly deliver to the same house at least once a week!! Again, I tell him I keep him in a job!!

LOL!!!!! yeah mine usually comes between 7.30 and 8, so I make sure I'm dressed by then...he has caught me out though! arriving earlier or sometimes I'm just exhausted and crashed on the bed with bub, so I've gone out there with my hair sticking up everywhere and barely dressed  he just laughs. He signs for me too. It's cool.

We have a new young dude who delivers parcels. He is great. He knocks and waits then hands it to me. He must wonder what is going on with such frequent soft mail (mostly wool these days). He even stopped in his van when he drove past us when we were going out up the road.

Ours is great. His wife was pregnant around when I was with G - so that first prompted our conversation, and now everytime he sees us he comments on how big G is getting, the other day we had a good 5min odd chat about our cars (looks like an import caryard in my front yard ).... Me likes him.... Which is good concidering - see him offen enough now!

between fluffy mail and DP's ebay addiction I know our postie very well.

He calls us by our first names and we always chat. The other day he saw DS for the first time in ages and goes "ooh, getting big now". I don't take bubby to the door every time, sometimes he is asleep.

We had another one when our one was on holiday. That was the one I had to chase down the street (I posted about it on here!).

I was so glad when our usual one came back and I told him too!

Our parcel guy is quite new, so still getting to know him.

Our parcel postie has been here almost daily for the last four months between birthdays, birth, Christmas, wine deliveries and fluffy mail - we always have a chat and if we aren't home he always leaves the parcel in a good spot on our verandah rather than a card telling me to pick it up - which I really appreciate! He is lovely - my kids think that all white vans that pull up in our street are him and go looking for him and his parcels. They were very disappointed when it was an Optus technician visiting the neighbour's yesterday - luckily the postie then brought a late birthday present for one of them so they were happy with their theory again!

The motor bike postie is lovely- very friendly. The delivery van postie is not friendly at all. She pretty much grunts at me (lol- and that is a good day!) Maybe she has motor bike envy and resents having to drive a dodgy van.... :-D

Our delivery postie is really lovely. He knows that I'm NEVER going to bother fixing the doorbell  and so shouts out "Delivery!" through the front door!! We always have a good yarn together - but I dont know his name yet... Hmm - must order some more fluffy mail so I can get to know his name! LOL

My postie drives me nuts!! lol, we are on the 3rd floor of a unit block, and he walks all the way up the stairs just to put the post pick up card in my door!! He doesnt even knock or anything to check that we are home!

My postie coasts along the path on his motorbike almost silently on the downhill run, and nearly ran me over when I was walking out the gate past a hedge at a friend's house around the corner. I didn't hear him coming, and he wasn't looking for pedestrians coming down driveways.

And he doesn't leave my mail IN the mailbox, he sort of leaves it hanging out. And small packages he leaves on top of the mail box. He ALWAYS bends items marked "DO NOT BEND", and if he gets a poor performance appraisal, it will be from me ringing and complaining frequently about him.
