the cost of childcare/schooling where you are

i've been looking into a few half days at kindy for my son and frankly have been shocked by prices. what are the prices of childcare like where you are?

i've got the option of sending spencer to local kindies but i don't want him to take the place of a local child. the international kindies are exorbitant. one near me charges $500US for enrolment and then nearly $900US for 3 half days. aye carumba. it's unbelievable.

what have your experiences been?

DS goes to a kinder nearby, it has a very good rep and their are lots foreign kids like DS there too.
We pay approx AU$250 per month and he attends from 8.30am - 12.30pm each day, that is very expensive for Chile. We used to pay so so so much more for occasional care in Melbourne.

We also had to pay AU$120 enrollment fee and around AU$170 for school supplies and uniform.

Van seems really happy there.

There is nothing close to where I am, the closest school is in Dar es Salaam, I understand that the internation school is about US$10,000 per year for preschool and kinder

dd is at a oublic school its $220 a year plus unifoms. Excursions are paid for too

DS has kinder (council kinder) tue wed from 1145 to 345 and firdays 8.45 to 12.45 costs 147 first two tems then 42 for the last two. His class is 5 kids short too so its quiet personal too

Grade 4-6 $6,000 per annum

Private secondary school in Brisbane CBD Grade 6-12 Tuition fees are approximately $12,500 per annum. The application fee is $375.

DH and I also looked at a private secondary schools in Boston as DH firms HQ is in Boston, MA and relocation in the distant future is a possibility. Day student fees are approximately $31,000US p.a for tuition and lunch. The application fee is $50US

thanks for your responses. i'd forgotten all about this thread. in the end, i didn't send my son to kindy. we weren't going to be here for all of first term and it was way too expensive.

DD's kinder was AUD25000 per annum for five days 9-3pm. or AUD15000 for five days 9-12.

For DS its around $20K per annum application fee is around $200, thankfully DH's company pays everything :D
