I'd love to:thumbsup: . I'm in innerwest, only 2 suburbs out of city.

I'm pretty sure mummy0f5 (I think it was mummyof5 anyway!) lives near newcastle and had talked about wanting to meet up next time they came down for appointments.

We are in the Kellyville/Castle Hill area.

I can do Sydney...as long as it is around 11 or so, as I can probably send the older ones home from school with friends for an afternoon. Takes me approx 2 hours from Sydney to Greta...Hills area would probably work better for me, not far from freeway exit and I know the area, as I grew up there, and lived in Kellyville before we moved up here.
Otherwise weekends are brillant as DH has a Sydney weekday abode where we can stay!!
I'll leave it in your capable hands!

For me it would be a matter of transport. DF has to take the car to work and if I did have the car I probably wouldn't be confident enough to go far:rolleyes:
After almost 2 yrs of living in Sydney I've only just taken a bus alone with Maia into the city!
I can't use the train because the local train station doesn't have wheelchair access (and won't be getting it either as their reply to my email stated:mad: ).

Just wondering whether school holidays would be good. DF, myself and the girls could do a day drive to the hills (or wherever) for a meet. DF could just go off and do his own thing if he wanted;). Weekends are better than the week for me aswell.

We can do a weekend (or school hols if they work better) meet at Dh's weekday townhouse if that suits, it's in North Ryde, really easy to find, and sort of in the middle of everyone...he's normally home in the hunter on weekend, but we can go stay with him for the w/end instead for a change.
Gremily, think you could probably even find it, wouldn't be too far for you, he is about 20-25 mins out of the city:thumbsup: .
Now I just have to mention to him that I have volunteered his place, or as he likes to refer to it, our city residence:o  .

MamaRabbit

I know North Ryde very well. Keep me posted on avaialble dates. We are pretty flexible.

Cheers,
Elle.

How about we aim for something these upcoming school holidays? We're already in week 6  and holidays start on April 6th which really isn't too far away. Would give us time to plan and organise.

Sounds good to me...my only day I can't do anthing is Sat 14th April, as have a surprise party for the wicked step mum:D . But, the good news is that it is in Sydney, so we will be down there anyway, staying at Nth Ryde for the weekend:yelclap: . How is the Sunday for everyone...put your thoughts here and I will pm details if it is good with you all:thumbsup: .

I'm IN!!!!! CAn't do saturdays as I work every daturday, and can't dot the 12th as it;s Emily's BIRTHDAAAAAAY!!!! (My Em, not you Grem...lol, but great name by the way:p )

Keep me up to date ladies! How excitement!!! To met you all, and in one day!!!:smiliedance:

gremily
10-03-2007, 11:04
it is a great name hey Lunar;)

Would you be right for the 15th as it's a sunday, Lunar?

So we'll meet at mummyof5's townhouse in nth ryde, then maybe go to a park or something if it's a nice day? Any thoughts?

And do we want to do a morning, lunch or arvo meet? Eat at cafe or bring a picnic (depending on weather)?

We should probably start PMing each other in regards to address/where, times, etc.

ETA: So far that's 5 of us. Is there anyone else in the Sydney area?

kiwibird27
10-03-2007, 11:13
I think lunch, and I think cafe, but happy to go along with whatever everyone else wants!!!!

Sorry Lunar didn't realise u haden't found us all!!!!

mummyof5
12-03-2007, 05:49
Yay, another one of us coming...I would've PM'd you Lunar:D . Having it on the Sunday won't interfere with Emily's birthday plans will it?
I am happy to eat there, it does have a backyard, if you want to do that....maybe just bring a plate each or something?? I am not to sure on what is around re: parks yet, as he's only been there a couple of weeks and I haven't had much time to check it out :o . From memory there are a few nearby though.
If we want to eat out, Nth Ryde RSL has a big bistro with a playroom for the kiddies, but might be a bit old for some of our younger ones, haven't been there for a while, so haven't Jock tested it yet:laughing: . The food is good from memory though!
Let me know what you all think....

Slightly freaked out as DF announced (very excitedly) that he may be doing his first full tour for work at that time (12th-19th), which means I'd be driving by myself with the kids.
I had a look at Whereis.com and I can go through Balmain, Drumoyne and up which is better than what I thought (I thought I'd have to go over the harbour bridge which is a no-go zone for me, too many lane changes!!!).

So I'm going to need a time and an address so I can get my exact route worked out and psych myself up over the next few weeks:D

Oh, and is Nth Ryde fine for everyone?? I'm not sure if everyone's said "Yep" for the location yet. Let us know if it's convenient or if a different location would be better (so long as it's doesn't involve me going over the harbour bridge!!!).

Lunar
12-03-2007, 08:04
 Oh Em, I'm the same... NO BRIDGE!

I think I might gice this one a miss. Been thinking about Emily's birfdee and we might have something on the Sunday (as I work every saturday) Even tho it's school holidays and we could have a party during the week (on her actualy birthday) but DH would be at work and miss it all (he would be most upset)

So, I'll just sit it out:(

mummyof5
12-03-2007, 08:48
Would the late afternoon of the 13th work better then...sorry Emily, can't help with your DH's work schedule, but can adjust to suit Lunar better...I have to be in Sydney for Sat arvo, so not a big prob to come down on Friday morning, and my DH gets home from work by 4pm in Sydney usually.
So would say 5.30 for an early tea on the 13th be easier?

By the way Emily, I promise if you can find Drummoyne, you can get there, not hard at all....I'll pm you the address now, so you have an idea of where you are going.

I'm psyching myself up, checking out the exact route I need to go, etc!

Ok Em, I promise. (you had to twist my arm real hard yanno:rolleyes: )

But please, someone PM me the details for this meet as I will try and make it. Is it ok if I bring DH? He can drive, that way if we get lost, I can blame HIM...and not sit somewhere and cry by myself..lol

That's what DH's are good for isn't it?? Blaming them when something goes wrong:laughing: . Of course, he is more than welcome, mine will be there.
Ok, ladies, will send out address and phone number pm's tonight, I promise, that way you'll all have time to sort out if and where you are going:D .
Is there a time anyone prefers?? I was thinking lunch time, but am not too fussy, mine are all old enough to cope either way...what do you mums with younger babies think?? Is an aftenoon tea sort of thing easier?? Morning might suck for us as we will have a late evening the night before, but then the kids are not so good at sleeping in, so probably won't make any difference:rolleyes: .

gremily
12-03-2007, 18:05
Lunar - bring hubby, he and Kylie's hubby can look after the kids:laughing:

Lunch would be good. Maia has a morning sleep, and usually an afternoon sleep if we're home but the excitment of being with other kids will keep her active. Also, I'd rather get home before dark/tea time, so if we were to have an afternoon tea it wouldn't last long.

MamaRabbit
12-03-2007, 18:20
Lunch is fine for us too. Sophie and Charlie normally have an afternoon sleep but I might be able to manage a morning one....if they miss out they can just have an early night.

Gremily, not sure where you are coming from but it sounds like you can come straight up Victoria Road and cut down Pittwater Road and onto Epping Road (depending on what the actual address is). It's pretty well signposted. I used to do that run alot a few years ago.

mummyof5
12-03-2007, 18:22
Cool, lunch it is then:thumbsup: .
All hubbies are welcome...Criag will appreciate the male company:laughing: .
Those are the directions I gave her too Elle, so she'll be right.
When I get the kids into bed, I'll send out PM's.

mummyof5
23-03-2007, 18:58
Ok, ladies, now that we have a date sorted, and I am assuming everyone is happy for a 12pm start and lunch, are you all happy to stay at the townhouse, or did you want to go out? Are we bringing a plate, or do you want me to cook something?
Put your thinking caps on and let me know...
Anyone else interested in joining us? We only bite sometimes:devil6: :p .

gremily

12pm sounds good. Not really thinking atm so I'll get back as to other stuff:o

MamaRabbit
26-03-2007, 21:00
I'm happy to go with the flow. 12pm is fine. Happy to bring a plate and stay in if this is preferred....and you have the room (your lot probably fill the house!). No need for you to cook though! We are also fine out and about, the park might be more manageable - weather permitting - as I'm sure the kids will be quite stimulated (if not overstimulated) with all the excitement so a cafe may be a brave move.

Hubby will be at soccer that day at nearby Christie Park in Nth Ryde so the kids and I are planning a "fresh-air-pitstop" before going home.

kiwibird27
27-03-2007, 08:08
Me too am happy with whatever!!! Keep it simple for yourself

mummyof5
29-03-2007, 09:37
Parks are good too, as long as it is a LONG way to the car park or road, so we have time to run Jock down...he is very quick for such a little bugger and can't help himself:devil6: .
The townhouse has a backyard, and we can stairgate off the upstairs (we have to for Jock anyway as he can reach the door handles), so it's quite child proof. The older ones will be happy with some bribery (chipies and the chance to watch a dvd or two), so at home is fine if you are happy to come there. All you might need to bring is folding chairs if you have any.
By the way, on the day, one of you please remind me to tell you about the info pre school gave me about a DADHC sevice we can access. Don't want to post it here.

MamaRabbit
29-03-2007, 11:08
Sounds Good, your place it is then. My 2 can't get far in a hurry anyway

Let's discuss bringing a plate or drink closer the time (so we don't all end up bringing sweets....mind you not such a bad thing!).

I think I know what you are talking about re: DADHC. Lifestart briefly mentioned something to me this week but I'm yet to get the full details.

See you soon!

Hi - It's been awhile since I logged on - hubby had his appendix out on Good Friday.....what a nice surprise that was. I now have 3 children to care for

I am still good for Sunday. Let me know what type of food/drink to bring.....if I don't hear back I'll try to make an executive decision and bring whatever the tastebuds are craving on the day.

Look forward to it.

Excellent!! Craig will be there for about 5 mins, well half an hour or so, then into a cab cause he has to fly down to Vic for a course next week...gotta love Navy timing.
I was thinking about doing some chicken wings/drummets or something and maybe some quiche? What do you all think. We have tea, coffee, cordial etc, and I'll get something bribery for my kids too.

Hi gals, great to meet Mummyof5 and Gremily last weekend your little ones are lovely, and I look forward to meeting Lunar and Kiwibird another time.

You probably noticed my little rabbit's shouting (hard not to)....it's a new habit of his and usually it's a process of elimination is he tired, hungry, thirsty, bored, frustrated etc..etc.. Anyway needless to say he was silent all the way home, so I guess he was just ready to leave and get home to his own bed

The interesting thing is we had our speech therapist come over for a home visit on Monday, I told her all about his shouting and how difficult it is getting for me. She videotaped my interaction with him during a few play activities. When we watched the tape back DH and I were amazed at just how responsive he was being - not a single shout, but plenty of coos, oohs and aahs, with lots of looking at something then at me etc. He is very expressive with his eyes so I have to pay alot of attention so I don't miss what it is he is trying to do or say. It was really uplifting to see that if I can just find the time to really sit down and communicate the shouting stops and I can understand what it is he needs or wants, or is simply trying to show me. Only problem is, when he is so dependent on me for entertainment how do I find that much time?? We have plenty of play time as it is, as soon as I do something else, be it work, chores, Sophie etc he demands my attention, even if I am right in front of him but doing something else or talking....even when DH is home and I go into the kitchen or somewhere he starts shouting for me. Is that a 2 year old thing, I suppose it could be a bit of separation anxiety....If I'm not with him he can't do things??

Whatever it is, it's a huge learning curve, I'll say that! It's hard work, but the speechie thinks if we can stick with it eventually we will get some different sounds. At least I have a new found enthusiasm after seeing us on the videotape.

Hope everyone else is keeping well.

gremily
17-04-2007, 17:44
It sounds like it was well worth having the speechy appointment:)
Eyes are major communicators and can tell us things people can't say aloud. It'll probably take a bit of work, but I'm sure you will soon be understanding what Rabbit is trying to say to you.

It was wonderful to meet you both (R&P and Mof5). Can't wait to meet you Lunar and Kiwibird27.
I was very proud of myself for doing the drive and not getting too freaked out:smiliedance: :D

mummyof5
17-04-2007, 21:23
Amazing how watching your interaction on video gives you a different perspective on things, hey Elle. Good luck with finding the time in your already busy schedule to work on the communication. I feel bad too, that I don't spend enough time individually with my kids to work on things they need, especially the youngest 2. Mother's guilt, great isn't it!

Gremily, you did an ace job, you weren't even rattled when you got there!! We might have to keep making the meets a little further away each time, then we'll have you hooning around Sydney in no time:laughing: :p . Seriously though, I was realy impressed!
