Hi,
I think Darwin is a great place to live. The people are really friendly and the life style is quite laid back. I can't really think of a really bad area as each suburb has it's good and bad side. The only thing is that real estate is quite high compared to the rest of Australia, but everything you need is only a 15min drive a way at most so you may use less fuel then if you were in a bigger city.

Now Darwin only really has one shopping complex (Casuarina) it's not as big as some of the places down south but you will find it is big enough and has all you need, except for Myers or David Jones we don't have them.

Darwin only has two seasons, the wet season which is between October and April and the Dry season which is May to September. The Wet season which is now, this is when it gets really hot and humid but it also rains alot which cools everything down. The dry season is really nice it's our tourist season. It's really busy and you may find it hard going out to dinner because of all the tourist.

I think Darwin is a good place to raise kids as you can always take them swimming and it's never to cold to go outside and play. My partner want's to move back down south and i really don't want to go. I just don't think that i could handle being in a big city.

Theres so much more i could talk about as i love it here so much but i won't because i'll never finish this post. Hope i have helped, if theres anything else you need to know just ley me know. I've been here for about 20 yrs now so i know a bit about the place. Goodluck with everything.

hi,
i too live in darwin.. its great here i think. its not too small but not too big and u can get from one side of it to the other in around half and hour. there are lots of beautiful placed to visit and u only have to drive a hour to be in the best camping spots around. it does get hot i am not going to deny that and does take getting use to but in the wet season the storms are spectacular and everything is green.. we dont ahve water restrictions either. the people are very laid back and friendly, i have lived here for basically 17 years and left to brissy but had to come bak... really its good. if u wanna know anything then private message me, and if you want to hang out when u get here ill b more than happy to show you around..
well good luck and take care
becca

Hi,

We moved here last year in July. I like it here, only thing i don't like about living here, is having no real close family or friends here. That really gets to me cause having nothing to do everyday is quite boring.

I love how close everything is, and how quick it is to get from one place to another. We live in Leanyer our area is so quite, nothing has happened here, my partner has left the keys in the car ignition a few times over night and it has all been good (wouldn't recommended doing that though).

I have noticed most people keep to themselves up here.

It is nice here, but i don't see myself living here forever.

Oh forgot to ask.

What does you partner do?

My partner is a jockey and works in Fannie Bay.

If you do move up here i would be more then happy to meet up with you, at some stage.

Do you know many people up here?

We have only just moved away from Darwin - But I loved it there and would move back if need be!

We lived in Palmerston - Durack and it was a nice area. There is a small shopping complex out there and the library is fantasitc. I met some really nice people there.

I hope that everything goes well for you. have PMed you

Hi, I moved to Darwin in January from Brisbane/Northern NSW..

What can I say...its bloody humid and its bloody wet!!

I am not used to the humidity yet and its pretty disgusting, I never really want to leave the air-conditioned house.

Im looking forward to the dry season.

Its very beautiful up here.

ETA: Everyone says its so friendly up here, but its just like anywhere, there are nice people and there are rude people (like the lady at Power & Water)!!
