Hi mums! Im just starting to send my little baby to childcare and i was hoping to maintain feeding her breast milk throughout the day (via expression into a bottle). Only problem...at the moment she is drinking 210mls of milk 3 times a day and im lucky if i can get 210 mls only out in the entire day.....does anyone have any tips on how i can maximise the amount of milk i can express per sitting?

Drink lots.

Express frequently, try to encourage a second let down.

I'm in a similar situation - returning to work soon, and there's no way I can stop feeding/expressing (not that I want to), as DS at 13 months doesn't eat much, but has lots of breastmilk still.

I'm going to try some Fenugreek tablets to boost my supply a bit. I'm pumping about 200ml twice a day for him at present on the days he is in daycare settling in, but once he really gets the hang of drinking it from a cup or a straw (won't take a teat or beaker) I am expecting he will want more than that.

I have been given some good advice from b/f mums who express at work that an electric pump with simulaneous collection (both breasts at the same time) is a must if you want to get a decent volume of milk.... I think one is called the Medela Symphony.

I second the fenugreek suggestion - I take it when bub has a growth spurt or when I feel my supply is low and after a day or two I have heaps of milk

Is there anyway in the morning or at night expressing from one boob whilst feeding from the other?? That was the only way i could express and i could usually get aroung 100-200ml depending...

I second that...much better results.

Drinks at least 2ltrs a day and get some fennel tea-works better than the fenugreek i found, plus your getting extra fluid.
I did this while I was working full time.
