Hi
A few weeks ago we went out for dinner and I had lamb shanks with this mash that I think was leeks, cabbage and something else but I can't remember what it was.
Does anyone have a alternative to mashed potato?
Thanks

I make mashed cauliflower - steamed cauli in the foodprocessor with whatever you want to add. I usually use black pepper and a small amount of EV olive oil, or some light sour cream.
It's good to go with casseroles if you are trying to lower your carb intake.

We use cous cous a lot instead of mashed potato....
I used a Jamie Oliver recipe from his latest book last night and we had roasted lamb shanks (with onion, leek and carrot) but instead of mashed potato, I made a mash of pumpkin and sweet potato which was very yummy. Just cook the pumpkin and sweet potato, add some milk, butter and salt/pepper to taste, yummo!!
We often will use basmatic rice or noodles or cous cous instead of potato.
It was probably mashed swede.
Mashed cauli here too! Yummmo, even after being on the Tony Ferguson diet i still love it! A dollop of cottage cheese, pepper and whizz away, DS loves it too.

I've never had mashed cauliflower before.
Do you mash it in the same way you would with potatoes?

it might have been pureed artichoke, they do that lots in the restraunts.
I'm interested in this mashed cauliflower too, how do you make it?
