I'm stressing out here. I found out I'm pregnant today and it's bad enough as it is if there is 1 baby. My mums mum was a twin, I think and identicle twin. Her twin died when it was a baby, I think about 10m

I heard it skips generations, do you think I could have twins?

Do you know how many weeks pregnant you are? I'm pretty sure they can do an ultrasound to see how many babies are in there from around 6 weeks onwards.

i wouldnt stress to much hun, im pregnnat with twins and it did skip a generation, i found out at 8wks so you should be able to tell then

zaracastle, firstly congratulations on your pregnancy. May you be blessed with a good pregnancy and a wonderful outcome. Identical twins happen when an egg splits into 2 and this is not hereditary ie doesn't run in families. Anyone has the same chance of having id twins as the next person. Fraternal twins occur when 2 eggs are released and fertilised by 2 separate sperm. These types of twins do run in families. If your grandmother is an id twin your chances are less than if she was fraternal. I have id twin boys and we have no history of twins in the family.
