Ugh - I hate it every time I go there. The sales assistants always completely ignore you, even when you have a starting-to-whinge baby protesting in his pram and it's clear that you need to be in and out as quickly as possible (you'd think they'd be pretty sussed about that sort of thing, no?).
And I've been in there when I was pregnant and hormonal and new mum and hormonal and they preyed upon my sleep-deprived naivety and loaded me up with so many billions of products that I didn't need. Yes, I know it's my fault that I was dumb enough to buy them all, but they make you feel like your baby won't make it to his first birthday unless you purchase 80% of their shop floor. With my new well-rested perspective I can see how conned I was, but with the hormones going mental they knew they had me in the bag.
AND they never ever have the one thing you really need in stock.
And other people have said they've been shifty about new Phil and Teds prams, and others have said that they tell big fibs because they're all on commission, and they're too expensive and I JUST DON'T LIKE'EM.

Oh I can better that.... I went to a different baby store when I was heavily pregnant to pick up my car seat I had on order....
Of course they come in a dirty big box which isn't the easiest to carry at the best of times.... let alone with a giant bump hanging out, and yeah they didn't even offer to carry the box to my car.... And whats worse is they weren't busy.... there wasn't even anyone else in the store....
But I agree the service at Babies Galore is relatively poor... they never have what I'm looking for anyway in store... I've only ever bought from them online!

I agree, we bought a most of our nursery furniture from them and the service is poor. The stock takes forever to come in, and they never have what I want. I don't go there anymore, I go to pram city if I need anything.

I agree! I have a terrible experience everytime I go!
The service there is shocking.
I went in there when I had just given birth to my last bub. And never again. I was ignored. I needed to get a cot so you would think they would have wanted to help me?
I ended up getting a nursing top and the lady argued with me over the price and apparently they had \bonuses with it but she refused. :banghead:
I was very frustrated.
I agree, I went to baby's galore and they didnt even care that I was there. I saw the two shop assitance standing around talking to each other while there were heaps of people walking around looking at stuff. I refuse to buy anything from there they are way to expensive. I bought most of my products at The pram Warehouse in the logan hyperdome homemaker centre. They have a 20% off a certain product of the month and they carried my items to the car for me and put them in my boot, while happily chatting to me.
They are, what my grandmother would say, "a bit sharp".
We went there to buy something that was advertised in their catalogue. They tried to charge us $10 more.
They also had their prams and strollers on sale - the floor staff claimed they were cheaper than at David Jones. Mmm hmm ... see their price was seemingly $300 less ... except you had to buy the sun canopy and the maintenance kit separately which made the whole package actually about $100 dearer ... ON SALE!

I have found cambeltown babies galore really great! there is one lady there who has 5 children of her own...She is wonderful! She helped me with so much. She explained EVERY pram, EVERY cot, and all the ins and outs of the products that i wanted to know about!
You should go there...they are nice!

It's a shame you've received bad service there, but perhaps rather than letting everyone here know, it would be more helpful to write/email the store manager and let them know? Or even go back and ask to speak to him/her in person.
Bad service can (and does) happen anywhere. If you would like to see it improved, let the people know who can do something about it. Be specific in your examples - it is very helpful to the manager to know exactly what you are unhappy about.
And for the record, try not to be upset about being sold additional items - it's pretty stock standard practice in retail! In fact, the idea is that there are probably several items within the store that you could possibly need or want, but had forgotten or not considered (or may not have even been aware they stocked). If they were able to sell you things you hadn't thought of buying before you went in, they're doing their job. :)

Perhaps that would be a good thing for me to do in addition to writing about it here - that's sort of what web forums are for. :)

Try taking something faulty back! Forget it, basically you bought it, you're stuck with it, tough luck it's a dud.

That's so suprising. I've never had any trouble from the Castle Hill branch of Babies Galore. Everytime I go I get great service, I've returned lots of things - rockers, sheets, even the E3 Phil N Teds stroller which was bought past the 14 day return period and was offered the new model. Someone always walks the heavier goods to my car. Maybe I've just been lucky, or I came when the right staff were on...
I love my local babies galore, they have always been very helpful & also left me to browse if I asked them to, they built my pram & ordered me in a new cover when the one I had was a little marked & let me keep both.
I guess like any chain it depends on who they employ to work in them.
If someone is rude to me in a store I let them know about it there & then you should let them know that you are not happy.
I wrote to the manager (head office ) about the store (it was new at the time ) and he wanted to know names. I should have taken note but I was in a post child birth haze plus the assistant had a strong accent combined the rudeness so i was not really thinking about her name.
It just wasn't worth me following up. I just know I avoid big stores like that. If I could I would avoid all big stores, which I do try to do.

Babies Galore at Loganholme is what I have seen as the worst. Their service is appalling, and it also takes forever to get their stock in! My DH was talking to someone once who is actually a supplier of theirs and he said that the reason it takes BG so long to get stock in (when eg pram warehouse has it on the floor) is because they are always very overdue with their bills...so therefore put on the 'naughty list'
The way I see it, why should the customer have to pay for their overdue bills??? I was told that a Kidsline lamp would be in stock in 2 weeks...6 weeks later, still not in. I went into pram warehouse and they had it on the floor, and many more out the back! I went back to BG and complained to them (yes, YET AGAIN) and what do you know...they had mine in two days later!
Never again, I tell you! NEVER!!!

I found them really helpful when I was pregnant but once bubs had come along I can't say the same thing. I guess they figure that if you aren't pregnant they won't get such a big sale out of you so don't bother to make the effort.
I think u are right Melissa. That was my feeling.

They've now lost me as a customer, yesterday I took back a product that I bought on Saturday. It said very clearly on the box that it could be returned within 14 days for a full refund if your baby wasn't happy with it. The product was actually faulty (have since spoken to the manufacturer who confirmed it was) and still they argued that they didn't give refunds. I had to point it out a couple of times the product clearly stated that it was returnable within 14 days, in the end I had the refund shoved at me again being told they don't give refunds but because the product said it they were forced to.
I can't tell you how much money I've spent in that store.
