 We have a 4 month old and a 10 month old Rottweilers. They are good friends for the most part.
They tend to lick eachother inside the mouth (looks like they are kissing) I always thought it was cute, but am starting to wonder what the point of it is? Do other dogs do it? does it mean anything?
 they are dogs. why do they sniff each others rear ends? its just what they do.:)

I thought they sniffed eachothers rear ends to check for gender and sexual maturity in each other??
Was wondering if there was more to the licking. But I did have a good giggle at your response! U may very well be right!
Ahh, Love them either way!
They are kissing Em!!! (At least that's what I'm gonna pretend they're doing...too cute!)
Its a greeting gesture and a calming signal - a sign that they are not a threat to each other, and yes, all dogs do it and wolves.
Licking lips is another appeasement gesture, and another is eye slide (looking to the side).
Little puppies can often be seen doing it to older dogs after they having been clowning around a bit. They are saying "I'm only messing wit ya, chill".
