I had a shocking migraine the other day, and I just thought I'd better grin and bare it. Panadol doesn't help me at all, I usually have to take something with codine in it. Is this or isn't it safe during pregnancy.

I didn't end up taking it, but man I suffered...

Hi there

Good news my GP advised me that Codine is fine during pregnancy when she confirmed my pregnancy last week. Not sure if you wanted to run it by your doctor just for second opinion ? But she said only to avoid Nurofen, Panadol and Panadine are fine

Hope this helps !

I was told that panadol is the only safe thing in pregnancy, And i suffered my whole way through because i wasnt even game to take that!

Nice cold dark room - quiet... was the only thing that would help, oh and sleep.

Best of luck!

I also got told that Panadol is the only safe thing to have during pregnancy with regards to pain killers. I have been taking panadol for my throat infection but it doest do much for me either so most of the time I dont bother. I think I would just suffer through it, as hard as that is sometimes. Maybe ask your GP, he/she would know best.

panadol is the safest during pregnancy, but a low dose codine is quite often fine

i used to get migranes when I was breast feeding and I refused to take anything apart from panadol, I used to get a cold face cloth, and put that over my head, darken the room and put relaxing music on, seamed to do the trick for me

I was in hospital for 6 weeks during the early days of my pregnancy with DS and suffered from migraines a lot in that time, in the maternity ward they often gave me panadeine. I was even prescribed panadeine forte by my OB but I didn't want to take it.

This time around I have had a few migraines and, although I try to go without medication, when I have to give in and take something I take panadeine.

Thanks girls. I do hate taking anything so most of the time I don't. But my migraines are pretty bad I guess, they usually make me vomit, get dizzy, mess with my eyes...thankfully they don't get that bad that often. But now I feel better about taking a codine product if I feel I need to. Thanks again. :hugs:
