we did this

* while we were out having pic taken everyone was having finger food at the reception hall
* entrance
* speaches
* cutting of the cake
* main meal
* desert
* first dance
* everyone dance
* supper

I wanted to get all the serious part of the night out of the way first so did everything before the main, but I did feed my guests first so that they wern't starving by the time the main came :D

it is also so you don't have to spend a fortune keeping your photographer until after dinner.

So you just do the mock cake cut before anyone gets to reception?
Our cake is small-really just for show as we are having a buffet with 3 dessert choices.So I dont think it will even get eaten:rolleyes:

thats another reason why we did everthing that needed to be done first, so the photographer didn't have to stay to long :thumbsup:

we didn't do a mock cake cutting, but what we did do was told everyone to wait with taking their own pics untill the photographer was finnished, then they could all quickly sneak in for a pic

My advice...not that I'm married but I have been to a few weddings...don't leave the speeches till too late, as if you do, you might find the people making the speeches might have had a bit too much to drink by then (ie like my DP at his brother's wedding...very funny though)

We had our Formal entrance
Then Dinner (it was a buffet)
Then Cutting of the cake
Then speeches
Then bridal Waltz
Then Party :party::smiliedance:

Yeah the mock cutting of the cake is designed so the photopgrapher can get some nice shots of the bride and groom cutting the cake before the reception starts.

I haven't gotten married, but I would definately offer my guests (and myself!) SOME sort of food BEFORE making them sit through speeches and whatnot.

Yourself and the female half of the bridal party (men never seem to have to do anything apart from put their suits on...lol) will probably be fairly hungry... after getting up early, having hair and make-up done, photos, blah blah blah... you'll probably be fairly starving.

We had a cocktail style and our speeches were done before the cutting of the cake.
