Who Paid for what?

Just out of curiousity, who paid for your wedding? Did you pay for it yourself or did DH or both of you paid, or maybe your parents or his parents paid or you all cheaped in!?

DH parents paid for the cake & invitation and little stuff like that. My parents paid for the rest. All we had to pay for was dh suit & my dress, the celebrant:yes:

My DH and I paid for the suit hire, the flowers, some of the bridesmaid dresses (they paid half) and our friends side for the reception.

My parents paid for the wedding cake and my wedding dress (as a gift to me) and for their side of the guests at the wedding.

We also asked for $$ instead of gifts for the wedding since we both had lived out of home and had lots of house stuff already so half the $$ we received from our friends and guests went back into the wedding and towards our honeymoon.

it was a team effort for is. My Mum & Dh's parent chucked in a fair amount & we handled the rest.

DH and I paid for the lot ourselves.

We received alot of cash as gifts though as we were already living together and had everything, so that pretty much paid it all off.

We did it ourselves to avoid in-law problems eg/ they wanted to pay the reception so they could invite who they wanted whether we knew them or not. So we said NO WAY we'll pay ourselves and invite who we know and who we want to be there :yes:

My mum paid for my dress, My dad paid for the Alcohol and we paid for the rest.

Ours was a bit of a mix.

My dad paid for the invitations and reception (food, decorations, flowers).

MIL paid for the alcohol.

We paid for the rest - my dress, his suit, jewellery, shoes, attendants gifts etc. And honeymoon of course.

We paid for everything apart from the beer.That was our wedding present from DH's parents.

Grant and I will be paying for ours, though I am thinking about everyone paying for their own drinks rather then giving us presents.

We will be paying for the majority of ours... I just don't feel right letting other people pay... its our choice to get married so we should pay for it.... but that is just my opinion.... and mum wants to pay for things.... but I just can't bring myself to say yes.

We had an open bar at our reception but that is because my brother and dad paid for that as our gift. DH and I paid for the rest of our wedding! It cost a lot but I would of felt guilty if my and mum and dad had to pay for it.

We were really lucky and very grateful. Dh and i only paid for our honeymoon. Everything else (except alcohol which was paid for by dh parents:thumbsup:) Was paid for by my parents. To this day im so grateful to them, we had a fantastic day and it didnt cost us a cent.

DH's parents paid for his outfit, My parents paid for the reception (cake and nibbles in the church hall, so not expensive at all) and we paid for everything else.:yes:

We paid for everything except, mum bought my beach wedding dress ($500). I got married overseas and had a reception when I came home within 3 mths.

I was 19 when I got engaged, still living at home and had no idea about these things!! I actually found a traditional list of who pays for what in a bridal magazine and followed that!! :o
It ended up that my in-laws paid for the drinks package (not traditional, but they offered), my DH payed for the flowers, honeymoon, suit hire & groomsmen gifts. I payed for my dress, decorations & bridesmaids gifts. My parents paid for or made everything else. (My mum makes paper, so made all our beautiful invites by hand.) A friend's mum made our cake as a wedding gift for us! YAY!!

My mum paid for my dress,inlaws gave us 2 grand towards wedding and the rest we are paying for.

my mum and stepdad paid for my dress (garden wedding so not expensive), shoes, cake, flowers and celebrant. dad and stepmum and DHs parents gave us cash towards the rest. the entire thing cost about $10500 including doing up the garden of which DH and I ended up paying $5700...

we paid for most of ours. my DH's parents paid for the alcohol (very pricey) and my parents paid for the reception.

We paid for everything except the alcohol. My parents paid for that but only because they insisted.

My dad paid for just about everything. MIL gave us $7,000 towards our honeymoon which the rest was paid for with the cash we got from guests. The groom paid for his own suit.
