Hi everyone
This may sound like a stupid question because i have already had a DD who is 6months old but i want to know if i can fall pregnant if i don't get my period?
Well the story is that i have endometriosis & have had it for about 8 years now. I don't get my period regulary & haven't had it since i had my daughter (7 months ago)
My husband & i really want to have another baby but if i am not having a period then how can we? people have told me that i can & other people have said that we can't!
I'm confused!:(
I have tried going back on the pill to regulate my body but that didn't work.
Was my first baby a fluke? I hadn't had my period for a year when i fell pregnant with her.
Please help me?:o

yip you sure can fall preg before you get your af, cause you usually ovulate before af arrives, so you may never if you catch the egg, the only thing with it is you may not know when your going to ovulate, its a hit or miss situation

are you breast feeding at all?

Hi mummaperry,

Long and short of it: you can only get pg if you are ovulating, and if you are ovulating, you will get a period...UNLESS you catch the egg and then af will not show. Im guessing you got pretty lucky with your 6month old in that you must have caught the only egg that you ovulated in a long time, hence the no period (I did with my son as well - was on a 2 1/2 month cycle). Theres another ttcer on here that was ovulating, but didnt get af due to a very rare condition, but that is def the exception rather than the rule...if you are not getting af and are not pg, you are not ovulating and can therefore not get pg.

Like Gizmo said, are you breastfeeding? If so, that can def prevent your cycle from returning. If not, I would see someone to try and help you - there are MANY other avenues to getting treatment, rather than going on the pill. In fact, if you are ttc, going on the pill to "regulate" you will most likely only give you a breakthrough bleed and not necessarily fix the problem.

I weaned my son when he was 8 months old and by the time he was 12 months, af still hadnt returned. I went to see my gyno who diagnosed me with PCOS and got me on drugs to induce and af and then on clomid to get me ovulating. On my second round of clomid now, so time will tell if it works. I tell you that merely to say that there are many treatments out there and not to worry that you cant get pg again!

Hope this helps a little?!? Keep us posted...would love to know the outcome! :)

Hey guys, thanks so much for the info.
I am not breastfeeding & haven't since Charlii was born. She didn't take to the boob & definately loved the bottle more.
When i had Charlii i had an emergency c-section so i was bleeding for about 2 weeks straight after that. Ever since then..nothing.
I think i am going to go see my doctor tomorrow & see if my Endometriosis has come back again. I mean i know you can't completely get rid of it but it may have got worse.
It's just a bummer because i really want to have more children. Guess i will have to discuss with the doc the other options!
Will let you guys know what happens tomorrow! :)

Hi there,
I am ttc #1, i dont get a period at all. When i was on the pill it came for about 2/3 days and it was very light. i went off the pill for 18 mths and did not get a single sign of AF!!!! so i went back on the pill (found hubby) and now i have benn off asgain for 5 months. I went to the gyno and i was put on provera. this is to make af come, and boy oh boy is she here!!!!!! heavy and sore as HELL!!!!! i had to have a blood test on day 3 and on day 21 to see if i ovulate. ouch!!! but hopefully we will catch the egg so treatment doesnt go any further!!!:fingerscrossed:

go and see ur gyno, there are so many pills out there! i also tried accupuncture, it worked for 2 cycles, and then i stopped cause i am a frady cat!

keep us posted!

Ok gals so i have an update!
After a sleepless night thinking of all the reasons why i wouldn't have AF & what i could do about it i took myself off to the doc's today.
He basically said that i am not normal. He can't find a reason why i wouldn't have AF.
I explained to him that Charlii my daughter must have been a fluke & that i must have caught the only egg in there! (he agreed)
Because i don't get af i therefore don't know when i'm ovultaing & in order to find out i would have to take an ovulation test every 3 days for a month (& i can't afford that right now)
He said that i should have sex every 3 days for a month & see what happnens ;) that idea i like, hey no harm in practising! :):)
So i went off for a blood test to check my iron levels, thyroids, hcg levels & a full blood count. I also have to go for an ultrasound next week to check for PCOS & to see if my endometriosis has come back or not.
If everything comes back normal we then have to figure out what's going on & do further tests.......needless to say iam a wee bit stressed. I don't know if i will be able to handle being told that i can't have anymore kids. :(

Perry,

Im sorry things are so stressful for you! :hugs: Its good you went to the dr to get things checked out. Are they checking your hormone levels in the blood tests as well? I think that is the starting point - you need to know where your levels are. Try not to worry too much...its unlikely you wont be able to have more children...it may prove a little more difficult, but not impossible. Keep us updated...:hugs:

Well ladies the results are in.
I went back to the doctors today for the results of my blood test & all came back perfectly fine apart from my iron.....apparantly i am iron deficiant so i need to eat more red meat & take iron tablets everyday.
I still need to go for my ultrasound next thursday so we will see what they find there.
He ended up saying that i may not be getting af because of my PND. He has changed my med from 10mg of Lexapro to 50mg of Zoloft.
Has anyone ever had Zoloft before? I'm worried they are going to make me sick....

Perry,

So glad to hear that everything is looking good! Will they start you on iron tablets?? I dont have any experience with either of those drugs you mentioned, but hopefully the switch to zoloft will be the key! :) Let us know how your ultrasound goes...
