Ok...Xander has been going to Kindy for 3 weeks now, and the last 2 days that he's been, he's been bitten by another child. Both times have been bad enough to leave bruising. I'm not sure if his carer was aware of it, as she didn't say anything when I picked him up, and when it happened on Tuesday, my partner had to sign a form to say he knew that it had happened. I'm just wondering if any of you have had similar problems at all? And if so, what was done to try and stop it?

Hello,
I have had a pinching thing going at a day care I used with my little girl and I wasn't happy.
Your child has the right to not be attacked like this.
I was quite angry when my little girl was pinched as it broke the skin.
I took my issue straight to the director and discussed it with her.
The child that was in question was being kept away in general from the children that he was pinching and the parents were asked to deal with it at home as well.
They were also told that if he didn't stop he will not be able to return to daycare until he did. The staff also put in a plan that he was to say sorry and he had thinking time on a chair away from everyone else. ( same as timeout)
This little boy had been pinching for sometime but no o ne had complained so staff just didn't do much. Once this paln had been put into action he stopped within a week and a half. He just needed to understand it wasn't right.

Thanks for that. I said something to one of the assistants on Tuesday, and they passed it on to his group leader. I'm happy to say he hasn't been bitten since last week.
