View Full Version : What To Do About A Sore Throat?

I will be 39 weeks PG tomorrow and have greeted this morning with an extremely dry, scratchy sore throat. :(
I have hardly slept the past few nights (sore back & all the usual late-PG discomforts!) and thought I may just be a little run-down, as I don't feel as though I'm getting a cold or anything.
Earlier today, I tried gargling with salt water (not exactly pleasant, but it worked for a little while!) and have tried all the lemon & honey drinks etc.
Just wondering if anyone knows of a more effective remedy that is safe to use this late in PG?

Hey, have you tried rhinocort? May be post nasal drip which Ive experiences for the first time while pg.
Try some panadol if all else fails.

I have heard that gargling with listeren is very good as it kill the bacteria.

Boil some water, put a bit of honey and lemon juice in there and stir it, then drink it

Agreed with Alicia, or, (what's been keeping my sore throat away for two weeks!) Tea, with honey as the alternative instead of sugar.
Honey's a great natural remedy, lemon too!
Hope it goes away!

Yep, have been doing the saline gargles & the honey & lemon drinks to death! (TBH, I'm not a huge fan of the taste of either one!!)
Unfortunately now it's turned into a full-blown cold. :( Great timing!! Haven't had a cold in years!!
Took some paracetemol last night though & it worked wonders, so I'm feeling a bit better today. Now I'm just hoping I can manage to shake it before The Boy arrives. I can't imagine how horrible it'd be to have a brand new baby you're terrified of kissing/breathing on for fear of passing on your cold!!!

Get yourself some Betadine Sore Throat Gargle from your local Chemist. Costs close to $10. Best stuff out there as it also gets rid of tonsillitis!! Also suck on a couple of vitimin C.

Oh wow - sounds like we have exactly the same thing. I woke up on Wednesday with a slightly sore throat, Thursday I practically lost my voice and my throat has been sore since, as well as HUGE glands so I now have multiple chins  And now this morning I've woken up to not only a sore throat but a runny snotty nose... :o
Any other suggestions on how we can ditch this horrible horrible flu/cold/yuck!!
I've just recovered from a delightful cold. Made all the more delightful by the limited things I could use.
Panadol helped my sore throat, Fes Nasal Spray cleared up my nose and sitting at home feeling grumpy did the rest!!!

Hmmm... sitting at home feeling grumpy....
Sounds good to me, bron!
Dr recommended diflam gargle for tonislitis. Probably use a nasal spray for the runny nose. I got a cold just after DS was born and this worked a treat.
Hope you are feeling better:wave:
