I had three attempts at an epidural with DD1, and none of them worked:thumbsdown: . They numbed the **** out of my legs, but everything above my thighs was the same.
Did anyone else experience this? The anithetists (don't know how to spell it, sorry), said there is a small % of women who it doesn't work on. He did 3 other women in between me attempts and they all worked straight away.
Needless to say, I'm not going to bother is time around. I think I was in more pain from the attempts than the contractions before I started pushing.
I would love to hear other about other similiar stories, and especially if it worked second time around, as it might give me hope to try again.
I had an epidural with Ozzy that they had to keep topping up every 10 mins - not fun when in the middle of the emergency c-section you begin to get some feeling back.
I then tried an epidural again with Isla and it worked perfectly:thumbsup:

Heya
Just wanted to share that my epidural with ds2 never worked either ...if anything the pain seemed to be worse. I was the same as you the guy had done other ladies that night and it worked so it wasn't him.
Not sure if i'm going to bother this time around as it was so much hassle. Would love to have one that worked but maybe its just me i dunno
anyway just wanted to let you know your not alone

My younger sister during her first birth had 3 - the first two didn't work at all and finally the third one did. She was in heaven once it kicked in. Made me a little bit apprehensive about having one but I was one of the lucky ones who worked first go - could feel the contractions but no sensation of pain. I was able to push out DD in 30mins on my own - with no intervention required. Fingers crossed if I need one again it will be the same.

Similar thing happened to me. Mine was an elective c-section though, and once they took bub out of me, they had trouble with my insides and I started to feel everything and it hurt like hell. They stopped attacking me and topped me up with pain killers and it must have worked cos I started snoring

Another one it didn't work for .
The guy doing it hit the dura so couldn't try again. So in labour for 26hrs with just gas and pethadine :(.
Becuase the Dr hit the dura i got what they call a "Epidural headache".It's so bad making you want to :barf:.So after 2 days of it not getting any better I was back in theatre to have a "Blood patch" done (where they take some blood from your hand and inject it into your back) headahce went like that :smiliedance:.
