I feel like the worst mummy in the world :(

One of Cobey's favouritest things in the UNIVERSE is to crawl to the gate at the top of the stairs, climb to stand, and kiss the doggies.
Well he crawled to the gate.. leant on it and I heard the tell-tale noise of it opening. :( and then he shrieked.. I ran as fast as I could and grabbed his leg on the 3rd step down (of 15) the poor little one now has a bruise on his head (just after the one from him headbutting the stool had cleared) and he got a terrible fright.. so a cold washer to the head and some boob.. he was kinda happy again. :(

I feel really really terrible. I called Chris and had a sook.

I -thought- I'd latched the gate properly *sigh* So upsetting.. and the scream he did just before he went down.. he was soooo frightened.

Poor Nikki! You'll be right. You're probably more shaken up than Cobey. No permanent damage done!!:hugs:

Hey Nikki :hugs:

My DD has had a couple of awful whacks on the face recently when she face planted the sharp wood on the couch while I was watching - so I know something of how you feel - I wanted to :barf:

He's probably forgotten about it already, but you'll remember it for the rest of your life

:hugs: :hugs: for you seekrit.
I understand. I remember feeling that way when my DS#1 fell off our bed as a baby (lucky the bed was a low futon, but still) It's awful.
They are pretty hardy though.
:hugs: :hugs: Big hugs for Cobey. I'm sure he's much better after having loads of mummy cuddles.

Oh Seekrit - my stomach just dropped thinking of how you must have felt hearing that! You are nowhere near being a terrible mother, but I can certainly understand why this must have upset you so much.
I brought my DS down the bottom of the two steps where our toilet and bathroom are, (there is a safety gate up top), as he was being a bit clingy and didn't want me to go out of sight and I had to go to the loo, (sorry - TMI). Anyway, he climed one step to hold on to the safety gate and then tried to sit down as I was washing my hands and I couldn't stop him from completely missing the step and falling backwards down that step - I just couldn't catch him in time. He got such a fright and I felt dreadful!!
Take care of yourself! get Dh to give you an extra big hug tonight!

no i am the bad mother!!!

was in the RTA today to renew my licence and DS was climbing up his pram because silly me forgot to strap him in, went to get him down but had purse, mobile keys, form in my hand and couldnt grab him properly, turned around for a second to put them down to pull DS back into his pram properly and he fell!

i didnt see where he fell because the pram was in front of me sort of but i think he fell on his head coz there is a small bump and a bit of redness there now. but i think more than anything it scared him. he calmed down afterwards but i was so embarassed. people probably thought i was some bad single mother that cant cope looking after her own kids... :o
