My name is Melissa and I'm a first time Mum for my beautiful three week old daughter. Over the last few days she is always very hungry between 6am and noon and will sometimes only go one to one and a half hours between feeds (and doesn't nap in between). Is it too early to put Farax in her formula to perhaps help her get more sleep in the mornings???
it is wayyyy to early to give her anything other than breastmilk or formula.
how many bottles and how much formula is she having?
i wouldnt at 3 weeks. What formula are u using?

Thanks for your reply! The Little One is on S26 Gold and is taking up to 80mls in each feed. The afternoons are great where she will sleep for three to four hours. From 6am to noon she only sleeps for 2 hours and is waiting to eat again.

Hi there,
When my ds was this young I fell into the trap of mistaking every cry for being hunger. Perhaps you are confusing some of her signals and she just has wind or is tired, uncomfortable etc. I too fell into that trap of feeding every hour or so and had to retrain the both of us to stretch it out to at least three hours.
As for the sleeping, if she is getting a lot of sleep in the afternoons, perhaps she doesn't need so much in the mornings?
And I agree with the other ladies- definately to early for farex.
Good luck,
FAR too early! Please wait until at least 4 months to be sage (6 months being a more recommended time) and good on you for asking.
At 3 weeks old all your baby wants and needs is cuddles and milky!
Also there's a growth spurt at this time, so it could be that.
Just keep giving her cuddles, milk and play. You're doing a great job :)
2 hourly feeds is perfectly normal for some part of the day in a newborn. You could try increasing the feeds to 100ml, but you'll probably find that she still wants milk every 2 hours. I know it's frustrating if you want some sleep, but it will get better and hopefully if she still wants frequent feeds it can change to a different time of the day, so you can get more sleep.
My son is 5 weeks old and his feeds vary from 2 - 4 hours apart during the day, yesterday he had 3 feeds that were 2 hours apart. It's especially common in the heat when he's thirsty (and milk is the treatment for thirst on hot days, not water by the way).
My kids even now at 4yo and 5yo eat every 2 hours from 7am. They keep this up until 1pm and then eat a light snack for tea and sleep through the night (usually minimum of 12 hours!).
I think that every child has different eating patterns and seem to know when they are going to need extra energy - even as a newborn!
I would up the formula intake a bit and not worry about the fact that she is so hungry all morning - she may just be like my kids and need her energy early in the day.
Definitely stay away from solids until around 4 months minimum.
