Hi, I am new here but I already have a question :o . For the last couple of weeks I have been nausious and also had a really sore throat. I kept thinking I was coming down with something as I didnt think it was possible I could be UTD. Anyway I have woken up this morning after only getting my BFP yesterday with really bad nausiousness, I am even dry reaching. I understand why I have that but I still have the sore throat which is confusing me. Does anyone know if that is a pregnancy symptom or could I really be coming down with something? Have any of you guys had a sore throat in early pregnancy?

I think it can be just like flu like symptoms are also possible.

My throat is a little husky but not sore. Plus problems with your sinuses can be common also which might make you sleep with your mouth open making your throat sore??

Thanks Nicole, that makes sense. I have had a few sniffles here and there so maybe that is it. I would hate it if I got sick right when I got my BFP!

Someone was saying to me the other day that apprently you are more likely to fall pregnant when you are sick as your immune system is lower and it is easier for the egg to implant

Don't know if this is right but heaps of mums i know have had flu like symptoms when getting their BFP.

And my Dr told me that lots of people come down with a cold in the early stages of pregnancy - again, an immune thing I think.
Eat lots of fruit and vegies!

Thanks for that girls. I have been eating lots of fruit and vegies today as its all I can really stomach with my m/s. I went to Docs and apparently I have a throat infection. I gotta take anti-biotics :( . I made sure they are safe to take during pregnancy but I still feel weird taking them. Doc says if I dont take them my throat infection will get worse, I dont want that to happen so I guess I betta take em.

When you conceive your body lowers its immune system so that it doesn't fight off your new bub as being a 'disease' or 'foreign object'. So in fact its probably a good thing that your sick! More chance of your bubby sticking

pebbles i've got a bit of a runny nose at the mo and a sore throat, and as others said your immune system goes down a little when your preg, i'm going to go to the shop in a min and get me some lemons and oranges to suck on to fix this sore throat, cause we can't take most throaties when preg

Gizmo - Yeah but I guess its like what you said - being run down and sick is probably a good sign as our immunities are down... At the moment I am looking for any sign at all that my bubba is ok. It sounds so stupid but this morning I got upset because although I felt nauseous I didnt throw up like yesterday morning. And then I came out and scoffed down some toast without any problems at all. I felt like if I am not as sick then maybe things arent progressing like they should be... I know I sound like an idiot, some women dont even get any m/s at all during preg but after loosing Peanut only 2 mths ago and now being pregnant so unexpectedly I am a little more stressed about things. One good sign I got this morning is sore, bigger boobs. They arent REALLY sore like they were when I was pregnant last time but definately sore.

pebbles i'm just as paranoid, I don't have any m/s as such, just every now and again when I havn't aten or a little dehydrated, and my boobs aren't really sore, just get the odd tingle in them every now and again, i'm really hanging out for my scan on tuesday to see that they are alright :fingerscrossed:

Gizmo - Good luck for Tuesday, I am sure everything will be fine. I think we will all be a little paranoid until 12 weeks! I gotta wait 12 days until my scan, it feels like a lifetime. Yet another 2WW! Hehe.
