I’m collating a collection of funny stories to publish a book from men and women about their time trying to get pregnant, conception, the pregnancy, the birth and life shortly thereafter.

Everyone has a tale to tell. Like the husband who was driving his wife to the hospital at 3am. She was in labour in the back seat, contractions 3 minutes apart. When suddenly, he insisted on stopping at a 7-Eleven store to get a cup of coffee because he didn’t think he could get through the birth without a caffeine fix!”

I’m keen to have not just women’s stories, but also from the men, birth partners, friends, grandparents and even the kids. A grandmother who is 75 recently told me of some great stories having children back in the 50’s ane 60’s. That is a very different perspective on today’s parenting and birthing stories.

I’m not looking for that gorgeous birth story unless of course, it’s very funny. Although, I will probably collate a collection of birth stories for a later project. You are more than welcome to send them but they may not be used on this initial project.

Please feel free to pass this information on to others so we can all share these precious funny tales. All information can be sent to me on the following details. No minimum word size for your story.

debi@mtoto.com.au or post to Debi Slinger, P.O. Box 229, Warrandyte, Vic. 3113 or fax to (03) 9844 3999
or you can phone me on (03) 9844 5777.

Hi Debi,

A woman in my neo-natal class told us at our reunion that she hated being 'looked at' and was so shy about being seen that she tried to cross her legs to cover up her private parts during the birth of her baby - this included when the baby's head was born! The midwives told her they had never encountered another woman who was SO modest!

I was completely opposite, normally I'm very modest but I actually remember being in the middle of a contraction and there was a knock on the door to the suite, my dh, mum and midwifes grabbed the sheet and flung it up over me and yelled come in. It happened to be a man bringing dh dinner, I looked at him and ripped the sheet off and I gave my husband and the others a greasy.

The funny thing is I haven't lived it down since mum and dh are forever laughing at me. :o

when i was in labour with isaiah , my mum and sister were tag teaming it with my brothers who were 25 and 27 at the time . Now my brothers are typical aussie males so they come into the labour room and decide to have a go at me and tell me how much i look like sh#t and just making fun of me. I couldnt help but laugh but what made me really laugh was when the midwife turned around to them and said :if u have nothing nice to say u can get out" and then proceeded to push them out of the room, so here was 2 big tattoed fellas being bullied by this elderly midwife. Made my labour a littlehappier :)
