Hi Evey1,

Just wondering when other people had their first antenatal visit to book in at the hospital etc. I can't get in until the 7th May and i will be 23 weeks pregnant by then. Ideally i though that this appt was supposed to be attended around the 12-13 weeks. This obviously wasn't possible for me as i only found out i was pregnant at about 2 weeks ago, and had first scan last Saturday telling me i was 13 weeks already.
Also, wanted to know, why the letter i received said that my husband can't be present at part of the interview. Is this because they do an internal? Any advice on what questions i should ask etc.
I am going to see my local gp again on Monday to get results of bloods etc. Guess i'll have to continue extra visits with him until my first appt at the hospital.

hey im from the due in sept thread. I just wanted to say, about that not letting your hubby be there for the first app, its cos they ask heaps of questions like, does your DP/DH hit you etc, and they dont want you to be influenced by them. Sucky huh?

I saw the OB last week for first time at 13 weeks.

I dont see the hospy till 25ish weeks, and all that is is a booking in appt. I dont get to see MW's until birth.

I see my OB at 20 weeks for her to go over ultrasound. Then 1 every 4 weeks, till 36weeks then every 2 till birth.

Thats it, if i want to see anyone then i have to see my GP who is completely hopeless when it comes to pregnancy.

I am public patient fyi.

Dont stress too much about ?'s, it may seem like you are running out of time not seeing them till so late but you will have plenty of time in the rest of the pregnancy. Maybe just get a schedule of what the rest of your appt's will be, for peace of mind.

For all your other ?'s there is always here!

Hi Jamb,

That's a relief to know that someone else isn't going till after me. I am also going public.

I am not seeing an ob though, but i do get to see a midwife at my first appt.

I will def be asking lots more q's as i am a first time mum.

This time is completely diff to first time. Things done opposite to last time.

Last time saw MW's from 15 weeks and never saw an OB.

This time MW's dont do antenatal care so you have to pay to see an OB (you get some back from medicare, but still, i think it is a joke). I opted out from the next OB appt to save $$$, she was happy for me to see GP if i felt something wrong.

I didnt mean dont ask ?'s, just meant if you dont get them all asked in first appt, there will be heaps more opp's....heck i still have ?'s!!!!

see ya in aug thread??

Hi Kanne,
This is my first pregnancy too - heaps of ??'s!
I'm a public patient too, and I have a booking in appt at the hospy at 20 weeks. I'm going to see MW's, and I'm going share care with my GP, who is luckily really good and experienced with Obs and pediatrics and all that stuff. But yeah, I put in my request for a booking in at the hosp. when I was about 7 weeks...but still didn't get in till 20. oh well, no worries :)

see you in the August thread
:D
