We have had Ella Grace picked out for a girls name since we got hitched nearlly 5 years ago. I really like the name it's soooo pretty.... but the overwheliming growing popularity of Ella is beginning to turn me off somewhat :(
Dh & I are thinking of changing our pick, but only if we come up with another name we love just as much!!!
PLEASE HELP US!!!!!!
We really like affectionate names like... Maggie, Lottie, etc But we cant use either of those coz they are names of some close friends little girls!!
Any ideas would be nice!!!
Come on gals.... get those thinking caps on!!! I've only got a few weeks left!!!!
I like Molly :)
Daisy and Poppy are nice names too...But I think Honey is the CUTEST name ever!
Friends of ours had a baby a few weeks ago and her name is Ella Rose

Your right, Ella is very popular, I refused to have Jack for the same reason! What about Matilda (Tilly), Abby or Tess?

I love the name Poppy! We couldnt use it as that is what my Dad wanted to be called. I like Ella too but the same as you, i think it has become way too common. Good Luck! Not long to go now!
I love the names poppy and honey..
I wanted Honey but DH wouldnt have a bar of it...
I love
Chloe
Breanna
Maddison
Charlotte (Charlie)
We are very partial to Chloe. I mentioned it to my MIL on the weekend and she just about spat out her teeth. She HATED it. Then I told her my other favourite is Sage but I've gone off it a bit (being a kitchen herb and all  ) and of course she loved that one. So now she's calling the kid Sage. We don't even know if it's a girl.
And it will take all my restraint to not call it Chloe just to p*ss her off. ;)
So there you go Becky... I've got others but they're my top two. :)

Cosmic - I say if you & DH love Chloe then go for it, its your choice.
My sis's name is Chloe and apparently when mum suggested it to her M & FIL, they hated it too, as apparently there is a nude painting called Chloe?? LOL Mum stuck with it though, and they haven't ever said anything since....
Becky - I LOVE Honey....hadn't thought of it as a name, but its soooo cute!
Also, my fave's are:
Kennedee
Madeleine or just plain Maddy/Maddi
Georgia
I picked Mackenzie, thinking it was a bit different, but now there's little Mac's popping up everywhere! And Charlee's!
Good luck picking your fave....

!!
Nope... he doesn't like it :( Back to the drawing board!!
Hi All
I like "Sage" too and apart form being excellent with lamb it also means "wise". I guess I would tend to use it as a middle name though (it not quite pretty enough for me :p )
Cheers
Hiya,
We're due to have our first bub just after new year, and if it's a girl we're pretty sure she'll be Bridget Clare.
Other names I love though are Molly and Zoe.
I'm sure whatever you choose will be perfect. :)
Good luck
Elissa
The names I picked were
Olivia
Leni
Abigail
Maya
Chole
ANd of course Eliza and Poppy lol
But lately have been thinking about the name Sabryia really like that as a middle name
or spelled Sabryah
Good luck and you call the baby what you want!!

Hey Xkwzit, I was a bit concerned about the prettiness factor too. But I liked it originally for the 'wise' meaning. Maybe Chloe Sage..?

I have just chimed in to this and have to share that DD1 is Ella Grace. And yes Ella is more popular these days - but it doesn't make it any less special as a name for a beautiful girl. We don't care that it is more popular - it is a lovely name, it suits her and will grow with her from a gorgeous little person into a lovely woman. It doesn't matter how many Ellas there are in the world - ours will always know who she is.
That being said - you are entitled to change your mind whenever you want about what ever you want - after all - you are the mother and it is your right!
Cosmic - DD2 is Chloe - and my MIL loves the fact that there is the nude painting called Chloe in Melbourne - they are a weird bunch! I love Sage but a friend called their baby Sage only a couple of months before and it was too close to home at the time.
Well, we are all thinking alike then, because when we came up with Chloe, Ella was our first pick for middle names. Again, it was the common-ness (is that a word?) that kind of put me off.. but you're right, Draught. It is a lovely name anyway. And even when you pick something you think is different, within 5 years it's 'common' anyway!

So true, dh & I were going through the name books last night & every other name we came up with we just don't like as much!! I think we will probably end up sticking with it...... I guess at least it's trendy at the moment :o That makes me a cool mum doesn't it??!! LOL!!!
Of course you are a cool mum!
I made the comment that it was more common these days and a friend pointed out that it just shows that more people have good taste. I say stick with what you like - and I can confirm that Ella Grace just rolls off the tongue beautifully when you are laughing with her, or when you are scolding her! :o

Names are so hard, harder I think when you know the sex!
I fell in love with the name Chloe when I was about 14, but as time wore on I noticed it gained popularity, and I met someone called Chloe I didn't like :(
Then whilst pregnant I loved the name Tamsyn, not popular and spelt differently to those I'd heard before.
But ultimately I waited til the birth to see whether it would suit and it didnt.
My family couldn't believe she was the spitting image of me! She wasnt named for about 2 weeks because I just kept looking at her and saw 'Erin' - my name!
It took sometime but I liked the name Lily, and then I jumbled in her great great grandmothers name Lillah (shes still alive too!), so I came up with Lillya... and it stuck.
But she ended up with a longer name still, Belinda (my middle name) and Joan (her great grandmothers name)... so Lillya Belinda Joan.
I amazed it fell into place so quickly!
Next time I have one, I will definately make a list! But I'll also wait til it arrives...
I think Ella Grace is lovely... if that's what you like, stick with it! :)
I've always liked Tara, Chloe, Zoe, Heidi, Josie, Talulah and Tabitha but cannot call my daughter these names....
Why?
Because they were all names of pets that we had when I was growing up!! :)
