Ok ladies so we all compared our weight gain, now I thought we could encourage each other to lose those extra baby kilo's.

I stacked on a whopping 27kgs!! Im now down to having only 12kgs left to get back to my pre preggo weight. Im happy, although I am still struggling to fit into any of my clothes, and I cant stop eating chocolate or cakes or anything "snacky" as I haven't had time to make anything "proper" to eat while getting used to having a little baby to care for. Im also not allowed to exercise for a huge 8 weeks until I have started to heal properly - I had 3rd degree tearing and also tore my stomach muscles apart... so no jogging for this little chick!

Hows everyone else going?

Well, I actually stopped weighing myself for the last month but I estimate that I put on a total of 15kgs. So far I have lost about 8kgs with no exercise. It has been about 2 weeks since I had DD.

BTW, I feel for you with the 3rd degree tearing. I hope you have a good recovery - I had the same happen to me with my 1st child and it can take awhile to recover but it does happen eventually! :)

Thanks Kriscee. I just have to keep up with the pelvic floor exercises... prob is all I can feel down there is pain... not sure if I am doing them or not IYKWIM!!

Well I'm pleased to say I've already lost 10 kgs :yelclap: I could hardly believe my eyes when I jumped on the scales. Still have about 7-8 to go but pretty happy with that much in just 6 days. I must of been carrying a lot of fluid.

Eagerly - I can relate to how your feeling. I had a rather large episiotomy and internal tear and am still very sore down there. Walking is difficult - I look like a sumo wrestler  I'm still applying ice packs during the day and find it helps quiet a bit. Hope you start to feel better soon.

Ice packs are fantastic and also try salt baths - maybe one or two a day. Nice warm water and just soak in it for 5-10 minutes if you can. It helped me a lot. You might find sitting on a firm surface, like the carpet or floor better also - I found sitting on a soft chair much more uncomfortable because it stretched your bits around and made it sore. :o

Sorry about the OT - didn't mean to make this a 3rd degree tear support thread!

I have lost 10 kgs so far and I have about 5-7kgs left to lose. I can almost fit into some of my pre-preg clothes, just need to lose the jelly belly now lol.

I had a first degree tear and that was bad enough so I can only imagine how painful a third degree would be. It is now almost 4 weeks since the birth and I couldn't do a pelvic floor squeeze for about 3 weeks, there was simply no feeling down there whatsoever!! I also had to sit on a cushion with a hole in the middle up until last week. I drove the car for the first time yesterday too :smiliedance:
How are the rest of you coping?

i had Cassidy five days ago and have lost a bit over 6 kilos. I have been told that i cant exercise for 6 weeks so heres hoping that breast feeding helps things along a bit.

Glad to hear that everyone is doing well, (beside the pains downstairs). I too tore pretty bad with this labour. they didnt tell me exactly how many stitches or what degree my tear was but they spent some time " sowing" me up. (sorry TMI). They also said i tore through 3 layers. ( ).
Anyhoo about the weight loss, i weighed myself 2 days before birth and i was 67kg, When i got home i weighed 60kg. Billy is 11 days old today and im now down to 58kg.:smiliedance: Exactly the same before i was PG. I would love to lose maybe 2 or 3 more so heres hopping it continues the way it has been.
Good luck to everyone eles on there recovery and on the weight loss!!

It is exactly for the reasons above that I wanted to have an elective caesar from the very beginning !!! Thankgod I got my emerg caesar in the end !!!

Healing vibes to all of you !! :hugs:

Back on topic... I gained 23kgs during this pregnancy and so far I've lost 13kgs, so I've still got 10 to go... and I suspect that these 10 are going to cling.

I'm going to start some gentle walking around our housing estate next week with bubs in the pram... and once the six weeks recovery from the caesar is finished, I'll up the exercising a bit.

I may even consider rejoining Weight Watchers... I've had great success with them before and I love their program...

Well, it's a week since I had Charlie. I put on 17 kg and I have 8.5kg to go, though actually I'd like to lose 10.

I tore pretty badly as well (2nd degree), and so far all I've managed is a little walk (yesterday) around the block. Am hoping that it heals quite quickly. On the positive side I have no separation of my abs so hopefully once the stitches are feeling better i'll be able to be a bit more active.

Well i think i put on 12.5kg (up to 75kg) and when i got home from hospital i still weighed 74kg! how is that possible - too much good food in hospital.

I weighed myself this morning and i am down to 69.5kg (3 weeks later) so still have 7 kgs to go!!

I had a elective caesar so the PF is fine but the abs are still nonexistent. i am trying to walk 20-30 minutes daily until 6 weeks and do stretches. then i plan to start pilates again at 6 weeks.

I am a bit worried about losing my milk if i worry too much about the weight loss. anyone else have this fear?

Absolutely ziggy. I'm not worried about losing the weight at all. I'm just going to try and get out for a walk every day (and eventually get back to the gym), eat relatively healthily, and breastfeed charlie, and see how i go.

I gained a total of 12kgs during pregnancy.. up to 61kgs. Within a week of giving birth I am back to my pre-pregnancy weight. Now that Charlotte's three weeks old, I've actually lost weight even from my pre-pregnancy weight. I'm now down to 50kgs and I think I still am going to lose some, especially while I am still b/f. I was definately all baby when I was pregnant and with the added water retention adding to the weight.
When people saw that I had such a small baby and they looked at me, they could hardly believe that I had just given birth. I just hope I'm as lucky the next time around.
When I was pregnant, Charlotte had tore my abdominal muscles while she was growing so I am also on the rest list for 8 weeks until I can exercise. It's a bummer because I still have a little tub in the front that I want to get rid of. I've had relatively no pain from the caesar except for this week. I'm feeling better and I'm beginning to do more than I'm suppose to. I really need to take it easy. It's hard when there is so much to be done.
Good luck everyone with the weight loss!

I jumped on the scales this morning......and I've only got 5kg to lose until I'm back to my pre pregnancy weight :smiliedance: I could probably lose 2kg more but I'd be happy to get back to where I started. I wonder if the breastfeeding has helped?

Now what do I do about my floppy tummy??

Isn't it a pity that we didn't all live close to one another.. then we could start a walking group... oh well, we might have to start a 'virtual' one instead :)

Does anyone know how long it takes for the abdominal separation to come back together and when I can start ab crunches again??

I've got 5kg to lose........I'm pretty impatient to get my body back into shape but after having had a caesar I can't rush into it.

icugal - pity we don't all live near each other I know.......there's always the option of meeting at Albert Park lake one day as it's great to walk around there and have a picnic or something. Just a suggestion anyway.

Great idea 1st time mum, I'd be up for that
I can't wait to start getting active again and meeting all the bubhub ladies. I want to have a great social life with bubs! :p
I weighed myself today and I have gained 0.6kg  I don't know why as I am not eating anything after my dinner now (don't have the time) and this was always a downfall of mine. Plus I have been for a few walks. I hope it's only fluid, very frustrating!!

That's actually not a bad idea !! I'd be up for that :)

Ooooh... and when all the kiddies are a little older, we could do a trip to the zoo or something !!
