I am hoping that some one can give me some ideas for gifts that are practical and gorgeous as well as organic and environmentally sound. My sister in law is having her baby shower end March. So I want to go shopping!

Some ideas I have for a gift basket

Gaia products
Organic knitteds by me
Organic clothing ie singlet
Fitted cloth nappy/prefolds
Organic wrap

Plus some organic choc for the expectant mum.

Also ideas for after bub is born would be appreciated

Eco store mentions (without links or pm me) would be great!

Your ideas are fab.
I think you could also give the mum some aromatherapy products that are organic which can be a nice post-birth treat!!
You can also get baby slings made from organic materials which is also nice for the baby and mum.

I use the Gaia products on my DD and give them

How about some organic towels from Blessed Earth or The Organic House?

Be lovely for mum and after bubbys first bath.

Well bamboo NAPPIES of course LOL.

Organic cotton Bibs.

GAIAM makes nice organic cotton baby rompers, cotton wraps and a knit blanket - we got them as a gift when Jethro was born, they're gorgeous. They also do organic baby toys which are cute! I'll PM you the link...

The BEST organic choc is Green and Blacks it's to die for!!!!!

Maybe some organic cotton sleep/ loungewear for mum in hospital after bub is born? or you could knit her some bedsocks? LOL

And some handmade organic soap to use after the birth would be lovely (lavender is really soothing on sore 'bits' especially if she had some tearing)

just a thought too, but charities like Oxfam and Amnesty International also have gift shops with Fair Trade and eco-friendly stuff sourced from all over the world. It'd be nice to know that your gift is also helping someone in need...

Oxfam in particular has these cute little 'twin' dolls (boys and girls) made by Zimbabwean women with handicapped kids. When you buy one, an identical 'twin' doll will be given to a HIV affected child in Zimbabwe.

Thankyou for the links that have been sent to me - I appreciate it!
Thanks for the ideas!
We have OXfam in the City (Melb) and I am always amazed when we go there. And we like the chocolate there.
Fair trade is great.
We like Gaia - the only product I can use other than Pinetarsol esp with my big boy.
Also ideas for post partum is fantastic. Brings back memories  ..... :)

One of my best friends got me organic rosehip oil & the organic moisturiser for the same range- lush as. Def recommend GAIA Organic Cotton for bubba clothes- they are lovely and wear v well. Good to hear about the GAIAM stuff too Kimbaleo- I have their catalougue and wondered what their baby stuff was like- the blankets esp- they look lovely! I second the green & blacks too- so good! As is their hot chocolate stuff ;-) And the GAIA organic bath stuff is so lovely- the only stuff that doesnt irritate Laura's skin. Bought a pack of their stuff for my SIL for her little girl & they both love it too! LOL she was squeezing the last drops of it out when I saw her last- so I know she wasnt just being kind.

yeah you can only buy them from certain chemists. they are a all natural certified organic brand. i think they even use recycled packaging and dont test on animals. they also dont have SLS's in their range. they also make a baby range.

they are good and smell nice. they even have a conditioner as well as a shampoo in the baby range and i have used it myself and its the best conditioner ive used... makes your hair soooo soft. its good because DS has curly and knotty hair and you cant buy conditioner for babies and normal conditioner would sting his eyes i would imagine so i would never use it.

they also make baby moisteriser and a couple of other products too... cant remember what exactly but i think there are 5 that we have here...

i'm not sure how much it costs coz it was a gift but whatever the price it'd be worth it... reminds me....gotta go get some more :D

Our local organic store stocks a huge range of baby cereals, rucks, and finger food snack things, I know that at birth that stage is a while off, but it would be a wonderful thing to receive!

Well I am already thinking of Christmas and 1st birthday gifts so its good to know for future reference.

I will have to have a look at the chemist and also at a local organic store - anyone know what we have in Melbourne? I am sure there are few around, just not that close to me.

Hehe me again.
Thought of this thread while I was in David Jones today. They had organic baby toys! Nice teddies etc.. but they were very expensive.

Could you knit an organic teddy bear?
