View Full Version : Advice on little 'table&chair' sets
I want to buy DD one of those little table and chair sets for chrissy and was hoping for some advice/opinions.
I'm tossing up between a light plastic version or a more stable wooden set. She is just starting to climb up on things and am wondering if the light one would be better or worse.
Any comments on why you like the plastic or wooden version would be appreciated. :)
Any suggestions on brands would also be great. :) :)

Yes yes Im buying O a little set this weekend, were going for the Latt set from Ikea, its wooden and fibre board I think. Its only $39 for the table and two chairs which is why were getting it also as its cheap!!! LOL Im so tight at the moment!
There are heaps of other cute sets at www.ikea.com.au to check out too.
I love Ikea!
Yes, yes, we are buying our O the IKEA one too. But I think we are getting him the more expensive one to match his other furniture.
I would always buy timber, but I think it is because I just love timber stuff. I think either would be fine. :)

Ikea ones are great!! Our IL's gave it to the kids for Chrissy last year and it is still going strong (I think ours is plastic of some sort?? - its green and round and the chairs have a back on them, to save on little accidents and falling etc.)
The ikea chair's (with the back) remind me of some grand, royal chair - very cute! :)
I think there is a pattern occuring here, so maybe there will be no choice!

We got the Ikea one too and stained/coated it to avoid long lasting mess.
Fantastic purchase!
We have a little plastic one for outside and it's not nearly as stable (but practical for the outdoor encounters with water & sand).
Highly recommended! A++++ - can you tell I'm enjoying the ebay feedback experience too? :D
Wow! Think we'd better get to Ikea :D , I had seen those, but forgot about them. So thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts. :)

We bought a plastic picnic table instead, from Kmart or Target, I forget which. At the moment it's been moved outside. It's very stable, impossible for her to tip over, though she has slid off the seat once or twice initially.
At the time I was looking and bought it DD was only 18 months or so and for her to get onto one of the chairs required climbing up and then turning round to plant her bum on it. I didnt see how she could do that on such small unstable chairs. Most of the chairs I saw were too high for her to simply back into and sit down on. She's rather small ;-)

We were given one for DS - it is from the Early Learning Centre. I wouldn't recommend it at all. The chairs are good but the table is continually wobbly (if it gets moved slightly, one of the legs will stay in original position whilst the rest move).
And from what I understand, it was much more expensive than the Ikea set. I'd throw it out if it hadn't been given to us by MIL. Hmmm...maybe I could pretend it was stolen off the verandah ?
Hmmm stolen, nice idea....but she might keep asking about whether you've put in your insurance claim yet. Or worse.................replace it with the same one!!!!!
P.S Sarah: Your a big meany!!! A little stalking never hurt anyone??!! ;)
Hi All
We also bought the plain wooden one from Ikea (I thought it was about $56). We actually spent more money on the paint to paint it than we did on the table and chairs  But it look GORGEOUS and our girls love it!
Cheers
