In NSW a scheme has began whereby your entire home can be replaced with fluorescent lightbulbs FOR FREE! I had my house done the other week. They changed every light bulb inside and outside (including lamps) and gave me the option of having a cool coloured light or a warm coloured light.
NSW residents only - visit envirosaver.com.au for more information on having your entire house switched to fluorescent lightbulbs for free - or call 1800 755 895

Nope - no catches! The replaced every single light bulb in the house for me and offered to switch the shower head over to a water saving one (we already had one installed though).
I haven't even received any junk mail (though from an environmentally conscious agency I doubt that they would send it!) :yelclap:

What are the globes like? Are they like those other ones that take forever to come on properly...oh do they change the socket...sorry for all the questions, maybe I should just give them a call:o

They didnt change any sockets and just replaced all the globes with the environmentally friendly fluorescent globes. They gave me the option of having a cool (white) or warm globe for each room - I chose as we went along! He replaced all the outdoor globes too - and all my lamps which have some VERY odd sized globes (I've had trouble finding the normal ones sometimes)
ETA - They dont take forever to come on either! I know the kind of fluro light your thinking of where it flashes a few times and then fires up and comes on. These fluro globes dont do that - they're instant!

Sounds good, but one more question :o...do they tell you where to get replacements?
Thank you so much for this...I know I am being a pain...I just hate making phone calls like these ones - I always sound so dumb, and the more I know before I tell hubby the more you will be willing to look into it. So a big thank you:hugs: Its a great idea (had to put that emotion in lol)

If they are the same globes that they give out at the shops, you can buy them anywhere. They are a little more pricey, but they are supposed to last longer (although i've replaced my hallway globe twice in 4 months :shame:)

Do you mean those ones you get for 6 in a box for free, when you people line up for ages to get them - well in Sydney they did - we have lots of them, but I thought these ones were different? Not sure:confused:

Erm I didnt ask - I figured that we wouldnt be living in this house after 10 years (when they finally need replacing) so I just didnt even think about it! LOL

I would say that they're the same ones. Only in NSW are they giving them out for free at the moment in preparation for a federal scheme that is coming out within the next year or two.

I'm assuming that its an ongoing initiative - its a way for the NSW to buy carbon credits; and we reap the benefits! Check out the website or give EnviroSaver a call - they should have more information
