View Full Version : May 2006 Mummies (pt 5)
Hi Kirsty welcome back :D
Rhianna will eat really well all the time (but everything comes from bottles of some sort :o The organic ones though!!) but doesn't have any finger food... She just squishes them in her hands and doesn't eat them...
No grinding of the teeth here yet- but thats because she has no top ones yet lol ;)

Hi Kirsty i have Jake born 26 may and tahlia who is 8 in march.
TEETH GRINDING :banghead: its driving me nuts. Its even worse then nails running down a chalkboard. grrr. I sometimes give J his dummy if its getting too much. He isnt that keen on a dummy anyway so for now it is serving a purpose. Jake has no problems with food LOL. He will eat anything! loves it. He has 2 peices of toast for breakfast and yoghurt, sandwich for lunch and fruit and then his dinner. This standing up is driving me nuts. Jake will pull himself up on the lounge/table/tv cabinet/stairs then not be able to move and scream until i move him lol *sigh* where did my baby go. All is good here ATM sleeping isnt too bad. jake actually managed 5.5 hours in a row sunday night which was great because i wasnt feeling well. hmm thats about it. I just cant belive Jake has 8 teeth already. ATM we are in Ts bedroom and J is reading a book lol well trying to rip the pages out actually. Better go before he wrecks it.
hi to all :D
Hey BB what does J have on his toast and sandwiches? :detective:

A little bit of vegemite on multigrain. ;)
First time i gave it he tried to shove the whole thing in at once. So now i break it up into little bits and just put it on his tray and he picks them up himself. Keeps him amused for ages.
OMG - we teeth grind here too! I'm so glad other babies are doing it - I was worried that Saxon was stressed. It drives me damned insane.
Kirsty - Hi and welcome back. I'm not the expert on food at all - I just give Saxon whatever is around and however much he wants.
Hey Mel - don't you be bringing that big capital letter attitude over to my house next week, young lady!

Lachlan has toast with vegemite every morning. He is now eating Banana and anything he can get his hands on that belongs to Noah including bits of watermelon, grapes, cheese, chips :o
Lachy didn't get into the second round of cloth idol :gloomy: Good luck to Ethan and Luca though, hopefully a may baby will win!
I'm still really tired all the time but I think it's due to a lack of motivation and drive. Plus I hate this bloody heat I want winter to hurry up!!
Lachlan is pulling up to stand on everything, even flat walls, and he's started standing on his own for a few seconds at a time
Is that enough Mel? :D

Em - have you had a full blood test since May???
After i had G my vitamin B12 levels never picked up and i was diagnosed about a year after she was born and i just needed a few shots to take care of it.
After B i developed this thyroid problem and there are so many others - Glandular fever, cronic fatigue etc. etc.
Might be worth a full check up.
Scout - I didn't realise any of the other bubs were grinding their teeth either. Its always reassuring to find out its common. I know G didn't ever do it. I hope you guys are all feeling better down there!!!!!!!!!!
BB - I've always been frightened to give B multigrain bread because i wasn't sure how her digestive system would take it iykwim.......... Did yu have any dramas in the beginning??
:chef: time........ talk to you all soon.
Thats fine Em:thumbsup: And you young Scout, I'll sort you out next week.
Luca hasn't done that teeth grinding thing, thank goodness. He is so greedy though, always eating. What a guts he is really fat, I dont think I can leave the house without someone commenting. he might get an eating disorder.
Em, yep you should get a blood test like CG said.
Gotta run, Connor is being a pain in the bum:banghead:

Hi CG, I've been done that road before and all came back fine. I haven't bothered going to the docs yet, I'm thinking he's just going to tell me I need to excercise more :o
About the multigrain thing, we were all brown bread and multigrain, and the boys just kept having really disgusting burning poos, so we switched back to white, but I make it fresh with my new breadmaker, so a bit healthier in terms of preservetives etc

 Hi Mel, well Noah was really fat and he still eats A LOT but he doesn't seem to have a complex (yet  )
Heeeyyyy new thread!! :D
Okies Mel- Luca an eating disorder??? People actually say that to you?? My gawd people are dumb lol
Rhianna is a piggy too... she almost choked on a piece of cheese today because I had the next bit ready for her so she tried to swallow it whole!! I have to hide whatever food is coming so she finishes whats in her mouth first! LOL

I don't get it .... he was one of the CUTEST in that lot???
Mel ... it's all up to you hun ... E only has the 2 nappies so I have no chance LOL!
I'll be back tomorrow with personals ... :D
Hi ladies,
Hello Kristy:wave: My name is Sonia and my daughter Emily Alesha was born on the 3rd May...yikes, nearly 10 months old. We are still waiting on our elusive first tooth to come through, so no grinding going on here yet I'm afraid.
Is Em still the only bub without teeth??
Em eats really well. For breakfast she's started having Cheerio's soaked in hot water (then drained) and mixed with yoghurt and pureed fruit. Lunch is generally a finger food deal, grilled marmite and cheese fingers, fruit, crackers, steamed veges, yoghurt etc.... Dinner is basically what we are having in the way of meat/veg/rice/pasta puree.
Mel - that is terrible...some people just don't think about what they are saying sometimes. I'm sure Luca will be just fine!!!
HDD - not long until our bubs are walking hey. I actually timed Em on Monday night when she took both hands off to hold a toy....4 minutes, I'm surprised her skinny legs held her up that long:laughing:
Question...how long does it take for milk to dry up? It's been nearly 3 months and it's still there.
Well we have had a pretty terrible 2 weeks here. First Grandad passing (thank you all for your kind comments btw:hugs: ), then a close friend of my Mum's passed away Saturday. And now, Jason's work has slowed right down to the point that I will more than likely be heading back to work sooner than anticipated and Jason will stay at home until Em's daycare placement starts.
On the upside Jason's sister will be coming for a weeks holiday from the UK on the 8th, which will be wonderful as we get on so well. Then on the 15th we head to the Hunter Valley for a long weekend for Jason's cousins wedding. So I will definitely take advantage of all the baysitters on hand while there (of course they will have to fight Grandma for cuddles).
Some of you may recall I mentioned the pregancy of my cousins wife who was given free IVF attempts after their 18month old drowned in their swimming pool...well last Wednesday she gave birth to twins:smiliedance: they were born by emergency c-section at just under 40weeks. The boy weighing 7 pound and the girl 6 pound 5 ounces. Needless to say when I saw her a few weeks back she was huge and very uncomfortable. Still can't get my head around the sizes though, happy healthy babies!!
And here are a few photo's from our NZ trip.

Cloth Idol??. Can someone please explain?!!
Thanks to everyone for the welcomes...Sonia, I hope your week starts to improve, although that's great news about your cousins twins being born - and what a great size for twins too!.
Mel how much does Luca weigh?. I worry about Maddy's weight, but that she's not putting on enough. I guess we are always worrying about something (well I am anyway!). She took forever to reach 8kgs, and in the end I had to turn the car seat around anyway because she was too long to keep going backwards:D Her little friend who is a month younger (and much shorter) than Madeline weighs a kilo more than her, and her mother was worried that she might be suffering from gigantism LOL
Does anyone know whether cardboard is bad for babies?. Madeline is fixated with her books, but all she does with the board ones is eat them...the poor hungry caterpillar now has a much bigger hole in him that he started out with....
Kristy- book eating LOL? We had newspaper eating which resulted in very very clogged up bowels, yuck, wouldn't reccomend it. The cloth idol thing is in the cloth nappy thread, VOTE Ethan or Luca. Luca is about 11kgs but he has so many rolls!
Sonia-cute pics. Your milk takes ages to go away completely from memory, like a whole year I think.
What else is happening everyone? What are you guys going to do for first birthdays? Isn't that scary?
Does anyone know whether cardboard is bad for babies?. Madeline is fixated with her books, but all she does with the board ones is eat them...the poor hungry caterpillar now has a much bigger hole in him that he started out with....
I bought a little "Buggy Buddy" book for Sax which attaches to his pram and he has eaten the whole way around it. I imagine cardboard would be quite fibrous really...... . Very cute that she has eaten The Hungry Caterpillar - your little one knows her classics!
Mel - perhaps Luca isn't overweight just under tall??
HDD - I live on a concoction of vitamins and I swear they keep me going. I eat really well too but just in case I'm missing that one nutrient, they are invaluable.
Sax is sick (AGAIN) and has just woken up from a 5 hour sleep so I had better entertain him in order to get him back to bed at a decent hour. Gotta run.
Mwah to those I have missed.

Teeth grinding, book eating, geez I'm glad Will is just like all the other bubs. BB, I'm with you - the teeth grinding is making me feel so sick that I find I'm much more relaxed about handing the dummy over. I can't stand it!!!
I've had a great day today. Will came into work to see me and all the men in the office just wouldn't leave him alone. I had expected them to go running off in the other direction, which would have been my reaction before I had a child of my own, but they all gooed and fussed like nobody's business!
Scout, what kinda vitamins do you take? I'm with you on the eating well, but sometimes I feel like I need a little extra something. Is Sax at daycare? I'm just waiting on the rush of bugs here in this house. So far Will's only picked up a daycare cold, which he passed on to me, but I'm preparing for the onslaught. At least they say that the more bugs they get in the first couple of years, the less they'll get later.:fingerscrossed:
Hi Kristy. I'm a mum to Will, who was born on the 26th of May. He's just started commando crawling, is pulling himself up onto the furniture and eats anything in sight. He's been very international this week - we took him out for sushi last Friday and on Sunday we went to yum cha for Chinese New Year (his dad is Chinese). In the space of two days he was introduced to plenty of new foods - seaweed, eel :barf: , steamed dim sims, beef rolls. Loved it!!
Lambie, hope things get better for you soon. I'm sure that little princess keeps the smile on your face. She's too cute!
Lambie/Sonia- I hope everything works out for you about work etc and what fantastic news about the twins. Big bubbas alright how would you fit them in!

Hi all
Scout - I can't believe the all of the sickness in your place!!!!!!! Sounds like Sax's day care should have a quarantine sign on the front door. Its that time of year though isn't it! I don't know what its been like in Melbourne but here it hot, rainy, hot and rainy and it just seems to spread colds and flus.
Son - :hugs: for all of the things you and your family have been through. A bit of a rough start to the year! Great news about your cousin. Hope the work situation sorts its self out soon. We were in a similar situation last year but i was obviously pregnant so i couldn't get work to help out.
wktz - I never used to think about paper and cardboard much when it came to the bubs but ever since Mel had so much trouble trying to find out why Luca was unsettled and upset and it turning out to be newspaper, i have started watching B like a hawk when she has a paper product.
KDK - I am always shocked when i take the baby and G when she was a baby to DH's work. All the big factory workers run and line up at the sink to wash their hands so that they can hold the baby:laughing: Such a funny thing to see.
Mel - First birthdays - Please don't say that!!!!!!! I'm still trying to convince myself that B is more then 3 months old - it feels like a time warp.
I have G's 5th Birthday on the 16/3 so will have a big party the day after. Then I'm hosting my cousins baby shower. Then we will have the easter egg hunts which will require planning of bunny paw templates and the flour/glitter mix to make the foot prints with. The my cousin will have her baby and i will be birth support for her - woohoo :smiliedance: (can't wait to see it from another angle). And then i will think about B's 1st bday. I still have to organise her christening as well. I wish i could freeze the world for one day and catch up with myself!!!!!

 Everyone!
Gee it has been so long since I have been able to get onto bubhub!!!! Not that I haven't had time just the crappy internet connection!
OMG I have missed you guys so much (really you have no idea!!!)
So much has happened in the thread I haven't had time to read them all so please accept my apologies for the extreme lack of personals!
We have all settled in well with the inlaws. Ryan just loves all the space he has to explore but he has the most fun when he chases after the chooks!! We only let him harass the roosters though as I am scared he will stress out the hens to much so that they won't lay any eggs! I have come quite accustomed to having Fresh eggs for brekkie! lol
Drewster is coming along in leaps and bounds! He now has two bottom teeth with a top on looming on the gum giving him grief... he also has 2 molars on the bottom that are begining to annoy him too... poor bubba!
He has been getting around the floor in a worm like fashion but this week he has just started trying to move the legs and arms at the same time - won't be long now! Ryan gets down on the floor and shows him how it is done but Drews is too busy laughing at him to take any notice of what he is doing!!!
Both the brothers just idolise each other which is great! Hopefully this will mean they will be the best of mates growing up!
My depression has been up and down with the move.... Ryan starting to throw tanties (and I mean throw them - OMG he has down it twice now and I swear I have never seen one like it!!!) hasn't helped.... But my dear inlaws have offered to babysit Ryan this weekend so DH, Drew and I can go and visit Billy & Rhianna this weekend (wouldn't want to submit her to Ryan's tanties!) We were meant to go a few weeks back but we got flooded in with road closures and couldn't get out!
not really much else happening.... have just discovered there are 2 other bubhubbers that live here so who knows I might get to meet up with them one day soon! Oh for myself I have taken up kickboxing - love it! Great stress relief
Oh and I got an email from Davina (Baby Beehinds) asking me to join her team as a consultant so I am thinking of doing that - just got to find out more on whats involved..... I am still so much in love with my MCNs but from what I have heard my collection is still rather boring compared to alot of other May Mummies collections!
Anyway close to bath times and feed times here so will sign off for now!
Thank you to the May Mummies that have kept in contact with me via email - it has meant alot! :hugs:
YAY LEISHA :smiliedance:
Glad everything is going well for you and the family:) We missed you round here too. Ryan sounds like a typical toddler to me anyway :) I'm doing Beehinds, you knew that right? I knew Dee was after someone up your way
To everyone else who has had kids start school this year, how are they going? Connor is in trouble all the time OMG nearly every night after school the teacher wants to talk to me:o Threw his hat over the fence today and yesterday he was playing drums on the back of the year 6 boys bags as they walked along. Siggghhh
Melb girls we are meeting up next week right?
there is a HUGE spider on the wall here and it is inching closer...Arrghhhh

New thread!!??!!
I can't remember who said what LOL I just read these past 2 pages, and here's what I have to add:
Kirsty, welcome! I missed your intro at the end of the last May Mummies thread, but I am Kerrin, I have Vallerie who is 6 in July, and Curtis who was born 4/5/06.
Curtis has 4 teeth, and the top eye teeth are both coming through too. He grinds his teeth too, sounds awful
Curtis has toast or bread most days, with a bit of vegemite. He does like avacado, too.
Ummmmmmm oh School, yes Vallerie is loving school, it's her "Splash Carnival" tomorrow (swimming carnival for the junior primaries :D) She's reading well, writing well, enjoying dramatic play the best, and has made some great friends. Because we're living in my home town, I grew up with most of the other mums from her class, and one in particular is a great friend of mine - and her daughter and Vallerie are "best friends" it's so sweet!!
Welcome back Leisha!!! :hugs:
I take daily vitamins too, actually I take heaps! If you shake me I rattle LOL I take 1 kelp tablet (to help the metabolism), 1 Vitamin B formula (heaps of B6 and B12, to give me energy and vitality), 1 Vitamin C + Zinc (This is to boost the immune system, I'm taking triple dose at the moment because I'm a bit under the weather), 3 St Johns Wort (1, 3 times a day) (This is a homeopathic remedy for depression :(), and sometimes I take a Vitamin C + Garlic + Horseradish (helps immune system but also helps with allergy-type sinus reactions, I take this when I'm feeling stuffed up or a ilttle more than just "under the weather") I also am going to get some Fish oil capsules, but am still researching as to which kind will be perfect for me.
I also have a swig of breastmilk every now and then, particularly if I wake up with a sore throat.
Fat lot of good all that does me though, today I ate a full packet of tim tams *blush* so I think that negates the benefits of all the vitamins....*sigh*
I'm trying the St Johns Wort, actually it's taken me a while to work myself up to taking it. I'm someone who would rather live in denial, y'know? If I don't see any results in a couple of months, I'll go to the doc and get something "allopathic".
Curtis took 2 steps in a row, with no holding onto anything, the other night!!! And he's a climber. He's doin' my head in already.... The other day, he tipped the washing basket over and climbed on top of it, in order to get to the stuff I put at the back of the coffee table.
There was more.. I forget.
Love and kisses to you all, big cuggles to all those bubbies.
Hi Everyone,
Mel - I can't believe Luca ate so much newspaper he got an upset tummy!. Maddy loves to shred paper if she can get her hands on it, but so far (touch wood) I've managed to remove most of the bits before they've made it into her mouth. I can't believe how fast she can chew a book to pieces though, yesterday I took a big wad from her mouth that she was chomping on like chewing gum
Queenie - nice to see you again!.
Kath - deja vu reading your email, Madelines due date was the 26th May and my husbands name is Will, ha ha .
Well Maddy has been NOT sleeping during the day for the past week or so...yesterday she slept 45 mins in the morning and 45 mins in the afternoon and ended up being awake from 1.15pm until 7.15pm and was thoroughly exhausted (and therefore very grizzly all afternoon  ). This morning she went for a nap about 9am and I thought she'd just sleep for a little while, but no, at 11am I had to WAKE her to take her swimming...she did this last Thursday too, it's the only day of the week that she wants to sleep and I have to wake her up....how on earth does she know!
We've just been to our neighbours for dinner though and she was a little angel, sat there quite happily in her high chair eating carrots and was very pleased about being a part of everything!.
Of the mums out there, how many have gone back to work and how many are still on leave?. If you are not working how do you manage on centrelink or a single wage, and if you are back at work how are you finding it?. I am still on leave and we are flat broke, and I am going back to work in July part time. I would go back now except I can't stand the thought of putting Maddy into daycare :D
Which leads me to my next question - what does everyone think about daycare centres vs family daycare?. I lean towards family daycare, but after a friends experience am a little hesitant about leaving Maddy in a situation where no one is checking up on conditions, if you know what I mean. Does anyone know much about how it all works?.
Sorry for the long post again, :hugs: to everyone, I am going to go to bed and read my book for a while!

I think I remember now about it being mentioned in one of our many threads ( ) I will send you an email (don't want to hijack the thread!!)
And yes I know Ryan is being just a typical two year old.... just wasn't prepared for it to happen overnight!

Hi Kristy! I was fortunate (if you can call it that) that my DH has a job that pays well so i don't need to but the downside to it is that he is nothome much to help out so most of the time i am a single mum.
Which leads me to my next question - what does everyone think about daycare centres vs family daycare?. I am not sure of the fees as they differ for each state and i believe now the family day carer can charge whatever they like! As for which scheme this is really a personal decision... For instance my mum was a FDC for years and has just recently gone into a daycare centre and finds it alot more structured and has alot more resources at her disposal.... When i first went back to my part time after DS1 I had him in FDC and i hated it! After 3 weeks i ended up pulling him out and putting him in a centre and he loved it!
But really there is pros and cons for both really.... Haven't been much help have I! Sorry :o

omg HI LEISHA!!! I have missed you SO much!! <<HUGS>> Thanks for the emails, I'm sorry I havn't replied to your last one though!! I'm a shocker!! Actually, the time I got on here and told everyone that you said hi, was one of the last times that I made it to this thread!!
I've found it really hard to keep up with EVERYTHING lately... But so glad that you're well now and that the boys are great!
Welcome Kristy!!
I'm Em and I have a 2.5 yo son Ronan and a 9 month old girl Ariene (are-ee-en). I'm a SAHM (when working I have been a welfare officer) and it's tough (financially), but I love it! I'm good at being poor, lol! Nah, it's not that bad- but we certainly have had to cut down on everything... we are living very differently to how we used to pre-kids! We are just paying off our house and living very cheap with the little bit leftover, even though DH has just got a new job managing a branch of an aged care/disiability service. It's a crappy-paying line of work though, dammit!!
I am actually soon to become a WAHM if the next few weeks go to plan- working very hard at it actually, with my lovely s.i.l. Will be ready to 'come out' about it all very soon ;) Just so you luffy clothies know, I am not a sewer and I'm not going to become another mum who makes MCN! Oh my gosh no.
Anyway, it's so lovely that you've joined our thread  .
Uh... what else was I gonna say??
Oh yes!! happybirthday to me! I'm 25 now.
Give me a D! Give me a Y! Give me a S! Give me a O! Give me a N!!!
....omg..... I got a DYSON!!!!! What was I saying about not having extra cash??!! Well, I don't now!!
I deserve one- Mace is away and I am alone for my b'day :( He is up in Forbes, of all places. We got my Dyson last weekend!
Ariene started crawling yesterday! She is really going for it, I just love it when she get's-a-going, that cuddly cloth bum gets-a-wigglin' and she looks so cuuuuuuttttteeee!!!! No way is she at the sort of developmental level I am reading about here with all the about-to-walk May bubs!! Although she shocked me today by gathering Ronan's matchbox cars and slotting them into their box (individual slots for cars-type-thing) and shutting the lid! No standing etc though. 6 teeth and still eating like a sparrow while looking like an elephant- she hates solids. Maybe has a couple of tablespoons a day?? Was starting to eat more but then stopped. Just wants boobie!! Lol. Loves to clap hands, strum lips with fingers while humming, indian calls, funny things like that.
She's still not sleeping. Don't ask me how I'm coping... I have no idea. I guess I just have to! It's actually hard for 'outside' people to see how bad it is, because when I'm so exhausted and stressed and depressed- the house is at its cleanest and I drive myself even harder. Strange, I know!
Too late for me.... must sneak into Ronan's room, change his nappy, which will wake Ariene, will feed her, then she'll refuse to settle, will take her into my bed, kick out Mace, she'll fuss and cry and pull at my nipples all night... There's our nightly routine!! Lol...

Hi! to everyone else ... I didn't get back for those personals, and know I'm too far behind ... silly GDUNH keeping me occupied (only 2 to go ... LOL)
Blimey, my eyes are drying out from our air con and I should really get to bed ... going to Perth (200kms) TWICE on the weekend ... no not staying there overnight, having to come & go each time :banghead: ...

Happy Birthday Em!! :yelclap:
And you got a brilliant present, a DYSON, you will love it. Please email me photo's of yourself using it, so I can live vicariously through you LOL !!!
Oh I forgot to say this before - my ex has agreed to let me have the fridge, as long as I give him the digital camera... which SUX completely. But it's cheaper for me to buy a new camera than a new fridge, so I guess if he wants it that badly, he can fricken have it. It was a mother's day present, apparently (the only one I ever got) but oh well. I wonder if he'd let me have the Dyson too....? Perhaps that's pushing it a little bit. I do still have a car key, to his precious V8, perhaps I can use that as leverage to get the Dyson, hmmmmm...
Anyhoo - I KNEW there was something else. THe cardboard eating ROFL Curtis does this sometimes too, but mostly with paper. And yeah, like Scouty said, I think it's just good roughage LOL !!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY POOKIE
Tonight i went to the hospital with my cousin as her support person for prenatal classes:laughing:. They make the whole process sound a bit painful - but really quite lovely - hehe. The staff also made themselves out to be very caring and 'at your service' - i was biting my tounge for an hour.......... No need to scare off the first time mumma's.
We went on a tour and the midwife stopped to talk to us just outside the special care nursery. I can't believe after almost 5 years i almost burst out crying looking at the doors. When G was born they put her into special care and i would only get to see her when DH came after work and wheeled her down to me. The day after she was born (caesarean) i tried to walk down to the nursery and only made it half way and ended up on my hands and knees on the floor and crawled to a nearby chair.
On day 3 i finally made it all the way to the nursary and i pushed the buzzer and the woman said can i help you and i said i've come to see my baby and she said 'are you sure? Who is your baby?' and i said 'your holding her!'. Jason arrived just behind me and the nurse said ' oh hi Jason - Is this your wife? Your little girl has had a good day. She's been waiting for daddy to feed and change her'
:gloomy: Sorry for the vent girls:ecomcity:. I guess it took B's birth (VBAC) to make me understand how G's birth made me feel. I guess its a bit ridiculous to be this upset after 5 years.
I'm really looking forward to being the birth support person for my cousin in April - It will be nice to help a loved one have as good a birth experience as possible.

Happy Birthday Em!!
It was your birthday you sneaking thing :shame: :p
CG that is awful about the way you were treated when G was born, I'd be crying to. Some of the staff in hospitals can be so insensitive, it only takes one person to make you feel terrible. I can't believe you were treated like that, although I can because I had similar experiences when my boys were born.
I must say though when Noah was born luckily by the sounds of it by V birth I had no problems seeing him at any time of the night or day, when I couldn't sleep at 2am I would go in just for a cuddle and have no problems getting in. But then I'd have horrible antinatal staff not understanding why I was upset to be put in a room with another lady who had her baby right there with her  It is traumatising, and things like that imprint you forever, when you have a baby your emotions are running at full steam, so it doesn't take much to shatter you. But it shouls be good to be a support for someone else, see it from the other side like you said

  Hi guys!
I have been MIA for a couple of weeks and didn't get on the computer once during our holiday.....that might have explained why I was so grumpy!
Our holiday could have been the next instalment for the Griswalds European Vacation....except in QLD..lol
My god everything that could have gone wrong did go wrong! The first couple of days went like this-(briefly)
*Strike at Perth airport when we were to fly out-3 hours later we got on the plane.
*Arrived in Brisbane at 230am to find our pram missing.....which arrived 2.5 days later.
*Paradise resort had room renovations right next door to ours...drilling into the walls.
*When I complained they moved us into a smoking room and didn't bother to bring the cot..*sigh*
*We left there and moved somewhere else-the holiday improved marginally after that although Cooper is certainly going through the terrible 2's.
*We learned not to go on a big holiday again for another coupe of years....lol
All is well otherwise...Abbey is going great. She is pulling herself up on EVERYTHING I do not get anything done at the moment. She stands up, tries to walk just lets go of everything and waits for me to catch her  nightmare really! She still only has 2 bottom teeth but has lots coming.
Very opinionated and only likes me *ahem*, Brenton has a hard time with her when he is left alone the little ratbag.
I hope you are all fab-I'm off to catch up a little.......

Hi Trish!!
So sorry your holiday wasn't the real 'break' you guys deserved... yeah... we are waiting a little while yet until we have a proper one. It will be our first holiday when we do go, though- that will make it extra special!
My last holiday was my honeymoon in '02, just to Adelaide
WOW, go Abbey!!
Em, that's amazing huh? We must be living in the Bubhub world a little too much!
Sooo tired, what am I doing up this late anyway??!!

Hi ladies:wave:
I have a little girl called Charlize but we call her Charlee most times, she will be nine months next week.
I hope you don't mind me joining in here. I'm new, and I'm always looking for advice, reassurance etc.
I think I will have to do some reading so I kind of get to know you all. But who knows where I'll find the time for that.
My little girl is still a gummy baby, no teeth, no hair just a little blonde fuzz, on the edge of crawling and walking. She says Daddy, Ma Ma, Bub Bub and some of her own language:ecomcity: .
I'm currently 5 months pregnant with #2:eek: (I know), so it will be interesting to see how she goes with that. I'm hoping that they will be good play mates. She currently has no idea, I'm not surprised.
I look forward to meeting you all.
 Hi Melly!! OMG 5 months with number 2!! That is so exciting... I had a dream I was pregnant again the other night, and I was surprised at how dissapointed I was when I woke up... :o
Next year for us hopefully!
Anyhoo welcome to May Mummies! So glad to have you here!
I'm Belinda have Rhianna who is 10 months in like 2 weeks  Where has the time gone??? Not much hair AT ALL lol 3 teeth, and is crawling and standing up at everything...
Welcome back Trish- sorry your break wasn't as good as it could have been... that sux...

Welcome Mummy Melly!
I am Carmen and DD is Charli, 17th of May, she has 2 teeth and has just started to crawl in the last few weeks :yelclap: She has a lot of hair on top but still the baby fuzz on the sides !! We have been TTC #2 since Charli was 3 months old with no luck so far!
Congratulations on your pregnancy, I hope everything goes well for you!!! Oh and you must be thrilled to be having a pigeon pair!
Billy have a great time with Leisha (welcome back :hugs:) and Drew tonight!!!

Oh and hi LM!!! Charli is doing really well, teething really bad and we were having BF probs (thanks again for your help with that Queenie :hugs:) we are having sleep iss-ewes again which may explain why I haven't come in here doing my marathon posts (still no excuse) latley. I hate posting without including everyone so I just stopped.

Carmen I missed your post, ikwym about not having time to post everyone, but I think everyone is in the same position so don't worry sweets just great to hear from you. Lilla is much the same as charli at the moment, teething and not sleeping. :wizard: heres hoping it gets better soon. This may sound silly but do you gals think that babies can be scared of the dark? Lilla sleeps fine during the day, but at night wakes up constantly when it gets dark and is soooo upset :detective:

Wow ladies, thanks for the warm welcome.
Carmen, we were going to call our DD Charlee but ended up with Charlize. Good luck with TTC, we didn't think we would conceive so soon as I was still BF, we knew it was possible but thought it would take 3-4 months, but like DD the first month possible bamm!!! I think we are just lucky or very fertile or something.
Christine & Billy thanks again for your welcome.
I tell you what ladies, I'm jealous of all these teeth. They have been causing Charlize trouble since she was about 5 months old, they seem to be doing the disappering trick, up and down, I have my fingers crossed it's not too much longer. As for the crawling, I'm thinking about getting some of those knee pads as we have floor boards and I think they hurt her a little, has any else tried these before?
Mummy Melly
24-02-2007, 13:26
Hey you wouldn't believe, my DD Charlize just started crawling this morning:smiliedance: . It was very exciting, you could just see how releaved she was to get going. So happy for her, I've just made my own knee pads out of a stubby holder and an old pair of grippy socks, will try them on her when she wakes up.
Just thought I'd share the news with you all.:yelclap:

Oh well done Charlize!! Ya cutie pie, now you're going to really give mummy a run for her money :D
And how crafty are you, MM!! Making your own knee pads, that's a really great idea.
Just to let you all know, today so far, Curtis has eaten 1 dead fly and 2 bits of cat food :barf:
cherrygirl
24-02-2007, 19:15
Queenie - You naughty mummy!!!!!!!! You know Curtis's diet isn't balanced until he's had the fly, catfood, some indoor plant leaves, water from the dogs bowl and a lick of someones shoe!!!!!:p
Welcome Mummy Melly and Charlize. I'm Erin, 26, Gold Coast. Bronte 27th May 06. Giorgia 16 March 02.
You are a hero (or a bit mad) for having 2 bubs so close togeather! Well done on C's crawling - now for the teeth..........
M2C - Great to hear from you!
LM - Good luck with uni starting. I'm sure you will be pretty busy. Lmao that you are planning to wag in the first week.
Em (hdd) - Thanks for your understanding words re. my being upset about G's birth the other night:hugs:
Pookie - You really are a super-mum. I can't wait to hear what the business is......
Billy and Leisha - Hope you guys had a great visit.
Trish - what a nightmare holiday! Glad you all made it back in one piece.
wktz - I just wanted to mention that my personal preference would be for Day Care. I think that in a centre the staff are watched by their peers but in a family day care situation the one person could really do anything during the day. That said, the family day carers do get checked a lot and have a lot of criteria to meet.
Tam - Hope your trips to perth go well. Why on earth didn't you stay???
:hugs: to everyone.

24-02-2007, 19:19
I didn't mention shoes, because they're a part of his daily diet! He loves to creep up to me and start sucking and biting on my TOES  and the bottom of people's shoes he seems to find tasty too :barf:
Vallerie dropped a bit of chocolate on the ground and he literally raced me to it, he beat me, and then ran away so I wouldn't take it off him! Cheeky little sod
Hi everyone!
I am a very bad MM06. *hangs head in shame*
I'm sorry I have been so absent but I've just been sooo busy and I fear it's only going to get busier. I hate that I can't keep up with all the posts so I tend to stay away rather than get left behind.
But I did read a few days back that you are still having sleeping problems with Ariene, Em. I'm so sorry... I hope it gets easier soon or that the co-sleeping helps you at least not feel so sleep deprived.
Welcome Mummy Melly, and good luck with the poo problems. :)
Queenie - Annabelle loves shoes too. What is that about??!!
HI to everyone else. Miss A is still commando crawling and seems to have NO interest in getting on her knees. I can get her to stand up on her feet now if I hold her -this is progress because before she wouldn't have a bar of it - would just hold her legs straight out in front of her at a 90 degree angle and wait to be plopped on her bum. Lazy sh!t. .
Still no teeth.
Loving daycare. They say she is such an easygoing baby - they love her. But she does cry when I arrive to pick her up and that stresses me. Like - she's happy when she's there, but the fact that she bursts into tears when she sees me (if she's just woken up especially) kind of indicates that she misses me? That she's stressed?? Well... it makes me uneasy anyway. :(
She's ready for bed now (9pm is the new bedtime...) and getting whingy so I have to run as usual. Just wanted to say hello and I'll try to catch up, I promise!
Mmm Dessert
24-02-2007, 20:39
Hi everyone!!
Cosmic, so glad to see that you're back. Hope things aren't too hectic for you. How many days a week is A in daycare? I have Will in Mondays and Tuesdays. He absolutely loves it - comes home absolutely exhausted, well fed and very well loved. But he also cries as soon as I walk into the centre of an afternoon. I just figure that he's trying to get my attention...
wktz - we looked into both family day care and a centre for Will. I chose the centre because I thought that it would be more accountable. And I like the idea of Will having little playmates his own age.
MM - oh my god. Five months pregnant already!! Well done you. I'm Mardi, not Kath (though, like my namesake, I do like to tizz myself up and team with a theme...). I have Will, who was born on 26/05. His vital stats: just started to grow thicker hair, commando crawling, five teeth (I'll tell you more about that in a tic) and the absolute love of my life.
Queenie - I have another shoe licking foot lover. Remember that guy that licked Fergie's toes years ago??? Will does that to me. Actually, no - he bites! It's revolting. DP is always on high alert anytime he goes near my bottom half - apparently my feet are 'disgusting' and he doesn't want Will to catch my 'cooties'. And of course DP's a foot model himself
Lillasmummy and M2C - hope those teeth pop out soon. Will has five now. Just not all together. On top he has, wait for it - FANGS. He is missing one of his front teeth. :fingerscrossed: it pops out soon.
Geez, he's also having trouble getting off to sleep tonight. Gotta race and see what's going on. Reckon he can tell DP's on night shift???
I also have a swig of breastmilk every now and then, particularly if I wake up with a sore throat.
GET OUT???
:barf: ????? Really????? Would you really drink that???? I know that I shouldn't be grossed out but I am. :o
I'll have the flies and the cat food with Curtis thanks.
And cat food???? Are you saying that you took the beloved cat?
the_queen
25-02-2007, 11:28
Well, I feed it to my kid  of course I drink it! I don't eat sausages though, oh my GAWD do we all realise what is in THAT?? :p
It does help, I know for a fact because yesterday and today I didn't have any and I've got a very very sore throat. Curtis has got the same sniffles as me (but clear, not coloured) and no sore throat (I assume.. his voice sounds the same, it doesn't look red, and he's perfectly normal except for the runny nose)
So in conclusion, my very scientific study  concludes that breastmilk is great for keeping a person not-sick. I'm intelligentual ain't I
I just prefer to try natural things before resorting to paracetomol or other "allopathic" means. Yesterday I had a Zyrtec and some panadol and it did BUGGER ALL.
Oh I must dash - Curtis has discovered how to get behind my brand new cupboard.... I can only just reach in to rescue him.... He's heading that way now BYE

LM - sending you some :wizard: right backatcha!! Yours must have worked, we all stayed at my parents house last night and she slept through  Now to get her to do that in her own bed and at home! Mum brought her in to me for a feed and then took her away and had a play and settled her for her morning nap so DF and I got a sleep in together until 10:30am  It was amazing!! One of my friends bubbas was scared of the dark, exactly what you were describing so they got her one of those night lights that puts an amber glow to the room and automatically turns on at dusk and off at dawn, problem solved
MM - Charlize is such a beautiful name! When DF chose Charli i suggested Charlize but he was set that Charli was to be her name! What is her middle name? Yay For Charlize crawling and i hope those teeth of hers decide to make an appearance soon!
Em - sending you :wizard: for sleeping too! So sorry to hear it still isn't going the best *hugs*
KDK and Queenie - I have a knee biter here, whenever she is on someones lap she will tilt forward and take a nice bite out of their knee!!! haha
I won the lotto last night! $52 woo-hoo, now to convince DF to let me spend that on another berry-plush! I think the answer is going to be no somehow......I sneakily bought one last week and I sooooo shouldn't have!! Oops.....haha

Thanks for the welcome back guys! :hugs: I will try to be more active in our thread.... just got to stay patient with the crappy dial up speed we get!!!
OMG Billy's house is GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE had an absolute blast there last night! Well the adults did... both babies decided they were going to be a little out of sorts.... Billy needs lots of big hugs as she has a sleepless night with Rhianna's teething. Am hoping she will be able to squeeze in a little nanna's nap this arvo! And Rhianna has just grown so much since I last saw her - her cheeky personality is really starting to shine through and when she smiles it just melts ya!
Em (Pookie) How you going with Ariene's sleeping issues??? Had any successes yet?? Gee I hope something works for you soon! And what is going to be you new venture??
Scout I am with you - YUK to taking a swig of BM... I did have a taste once and cause it was warm it tasted blah.... but yet our babies just love it

Oh I hope I won a little bit too.... my MCN collection needs a majoy boost to have a some choice at change time!!! Particularly after spying Billy's growing collection... Ssshhh her DH isn't supposed to know it is GROWING
Well after my night away I now have to get stuck back into my homely chores!!
I only have 5 minutes but I have read and replied in my head (does that count), still laughing at you Scout too. Boobymilkshake anyone?

Hi Everyone,
Sorry, I've been a bit slack about getting on the net again, will make a better effort this week :D
Em - a belated happybirthday !! How is the Dyson going?. OMG I just LOVE my Dyson....after approx 15 cheapy vaccuum cleaners blew up on me because they couldn't cope with all the dog hair I bit the bullet and invested in one. It's been about five years now and it's still going strong - even with two great big hairy furballs hanging around the place!
Trish, sorry to hear your holiday wasn't that great. We took Madeline to visit my family in Melbourne and country Victoria at Christmas and I was dreading it, but I think she coped better than we did LOL. We only had my sister to deal with though, not builders and dodgy hotels
Mummy Melly - welcome!. I'm so impressed at you making your own knee pads, I wouldn't know where to start!
Queenie I'm very glad to hear Curtis eats disgusting things he finds on the floor as well...today Maddy has eaten a bit of onion skin (that her Daddy SHOULD have put in the bin instead of leaving it on the floor where it fell to 'do it later' grrrr) and half a tissue. The other half the tissue is shredded all over the lounge room floor.
Scout you made me laugh so hard with your post. Queenie I'm with you on preferring to try natural remedies first, but Scout I'm definitely with you on the breast milk. I know it's natural and I do believe it helps the immune system, but sorry it's just a little too much like drinking body fluids for my liking. Enough said!
Well girls, my mum has booked her flight up for Maddy's birthday. I can't believe my baby is almost 1, where has the time gone!!. I'm so excited that my mum can be here for it though, she's coming up for just over a week which will be great. I'm under no illusions that she's coming to see me though - I've lived in Brisbane for three years now and in the first year I saw her once when she came up for my wedding. In the past NINE MONTHS since Maddy was born she's managed to come up twice, we've been to Melbourne once and May will be her third visit in a year, so guess who the most important person in the family is??
Well thats about my bedtime. Hope you all have lots of sleep tonight, especially Bill and Em, you guys sound like you really need it!!
:hugs:

Kirsty, once I went to the toilet thinking that the box of tissues was out of Curtis' reach. But he must have grown a quarter of an inch since the day before... when I got back from the toilet (only number 1's LOL so I was not in there long!) Half a box of tissues was shredded across the room. And he had a big full cheek, like a old-fashioned hillbilly chewin' on tobacco
And that sux about your mum - my mum is the opposite, keeps making snide (but loving) remarks about wanting Curtis to come for a sleep over. I just smile and say "but you're not lactating!" and the conversation ends LOL
Mel I'm about to look at those photo's (old stupid computer takes ages for them to load) but even without seeing them I can safely say CUUUTE!! GORGEOUS!!! :D
And maybe it's just my egotism that enables me to happily ingest my own bodily fluids  Bodily fluids of other people do definitely gross me out... *insert ghetto voice* Coz ain't NObody be gettin' me to swallow no man's love-potion! ;)

Hi All,
Just popping my head in to say hello, although given some of the comments and me being a bit squeamish I am not sure that I should have.
Queenie - TMI, I am not sure that I could take a swig of my own breast milk
Queenie - can I borrow this line for when I am in Australia in May, Ryan and I will be suffering from family overload.
I just smile and say "but you're not lactating!" ;)
I can sympathise with regard to the tissues, I lost half a box on the floor and ripped into thousands of tiny pieces last week and the toilet paper holds similar appeal
StellaJ - My husband wants to know why the chicken was wearing your thong - chicken skiddies
Melly - Hello and welcome, I am Carolyn, My DS Ryan was born on the 9th of May, I am a Tasmanian, who calls WA home who is currently living on a remote minesite in Tanzania (East Africa).
BC - DH is persusing Bubhub with me this afternoon and assisting me with this post. After reading your post he informs me that your bra size is DD. I had to then point out the DD is darling daughter and not ones cup size.
By the sounds of it I am lucky we dont have a domestic cat. Ryan was outside licking rocks which is bad enough.

Can someone advise how I rename links?
Cheers,
Carolyn
Mel - I forgot to say last night, Luca is so CUTE!! And I have to agree with the other posts this morning, you are definitely skinny :)
Carolyn, Ryan is just gorgeous as well....so many beautiful babies born in May, I must say:D I might have to work out how to add links to my posts so I can put up some photo's as well! How long have you been in Tanzania for?. How do you like it and is it difficult with a young baby?. Until I hear your reply I'm very jealous, I'd love to live overseas for a while!
Queenie I was just being sarcastic about my mum, I actually do love her dearly and we get along very well (although to be honest, we probably get along so well because I only see her every now and then and only for a few days at a time ...if she lived next door I think I'd cheerfully strangle her after a couple of months LOL). I'm very glad that she's making such an effort to come up and see Maddy and be part of her life, I'd be devastated if she didn't. I also know we are probably seeing more of her now because Mum keeps saying how quickly they grow in the first year and how much they change and she wants to see as much of it as she can. At almost 34  the only thing changing on me is the amount of gray hair, and no one needs to see that

Renaming links .... (for Carolyn ;)). Now, firstly, I think I do this differently to some others, so someone else may have an easier way, maybe???
1) Click on the icon that looks like a world globe just above ("insert link"). My page then comes up with the following blurb : "This website is using a scripted window to ask you for information. If you trust this website, click here to allow scripted windows ..."
2) Click and it comes up with "temporarily allow scripted windows" ... click on it
3) Click on the globe again and it comes up with a box to enter the page you are linking to ... I just cut & paste the entire address from above the page I'm using. It then shows the text again, highlighted - type in what you want to call it and this is the text that shows ...
Geez, having trouble giving clear instructions today sorry .... pleeeeeeeeeeeeease, anyone out there with some clearer instructions??? :o

My browser doesn't do the above bit :)

Pretty good not too confusing :p
As soon as you insert the link without clicking on anything else just start typing whatever you want it to say.

Lilla is exactly the same at them moment
Also what is the :barf:. Please explain :D
I've just p!ssed myself laughing catching up on the goings on here over the past few days.
Queen - nope, still wrong. You bloody Earth Mumma's (and don't go getting smug Mel, you are one too!) sh!t me - you go making the rest of us look bad with your natural everything. Then again, that's actually why I love the two of you so much - you are the exact opposite of me and I am in awe in your presence.
Carolyn - helloooo, aren't you a bit of a Yummy Mummy!!
I love reading what everyone's bubs are eating (or licking). We've had nothing too exciting (that I've seen) in this house.
I've just been away for 4 days down the coast with my parents and step-sister. Unfortunately, Sax was sick so whiny all day and screamy ALL night. I could barely walk due to foot pain and had chronic nausea due to pain and tiredness. It was a write off of a weekend although for once I've spent some time with my mother and don't need a month of therapy to get over it.
Would you believe that this time last year (and some will remember), I was in a psychiatric unit. Time flies!
I will try and get on tomorrow and do personals.
Hugs and kisses to all - keep the humour coming.

gotto go, time for my swahili lesson. Getting very tired of an old man telling me that he feels sorry for me cause I only have 1 child and I should spend more time comforting my husband because he is important.......wtf There are some cultural things that take a while of getting used to.

Pooks.....whatchu mean "just to Adelaide"
Hehe. We actually LOVE Adelaide! It's our second fav capital city (after Hobart, Africamum!!). We know this after only being to both cities once, lol. We are not exactly well-travelled, lol, but we enjoyed Adelaide.. Although the people staying in our apartment before us must have smoked a lot of weed..phew..stinky!
Welcome Mummy Melly!!
Ariene just has baby fuzz too!! But I love it, it adds to the cuteness factor, I reckon!
I'm Em, 25, live on the vic/nsw border, and have Ronan who is 2.5 and Ariene (are-ee-en) who is 9.5 months.
I hate posting without including everyone so I just stopped.
I did the same thing, M2C...
But we just need to feel like this is the one place we can go to, to just :ecomcity: and not feel like we are being selfish or anything. It's really important imo to have this outlet..
As for the crawling, I'm thinking about getting some of those knee pads as we have floor boards and I think they hurt her a little, has any else tried these before?
Melly, we have a lot of ceramic tiles and I'll be getting a pair of knee-pads for Ariene. She is getting red knees from crawling over them chasing her brother. I try to keep her in the carpeted room only, but it's not working anymore!!
We are just about to get our 4th tooth (top row) and are still no closer to walking (yeah! Tayla was walking/running at this age and it wasn't fun !!!).
Oh TAM I know exactly what you mean, I am very, very glad that Ariene is so content to sit and watch Ronan play and just crawl around. She's kneeling to play on her keyboard etc, but no way is she keen to stand. Ronan was RUNNING at this age too. His brain didn't develop at the same rate as his motor skills though and we had many crazy injuries!

Hey guys, last night Ariene slept in her cot for the first time in MONTHS. It was lovely... I was struck with how bad a mummy that makes me sound :o but gosh it was soo nice... I think this is how I want it to be now. She only woke 4 times! We'll get there. If she's hungry, then I feed her, but otherwise I'm hopeful that she'll settle with a cuddle or a pat or go back to sleep after only waking briefly.
But I think that the worst of the sleep deprivation is over, thank heavens. I was going nuts.

Awwww, Em. Love the pics. Doesn't A look just like you in the pic with the woolies??? Those sleeping ones are just gorgeous too ...
Glad she's giving you a bit of a reprieve. I have :fingerscrossed: THIS is the turn around for you. You certainly have done it tough lately.
I know what you mean with the injuries ... Tayla was only 12 months (give or take a bit) when she broke her first collar bone (yes ... she did it twice within around 12 months of each incident ... not nice when the Doc's start asking questions - but it was all good, so to speak). And for those wondering, both incidents occurred at daycare (different centres) and not exactly sure how - just playing and falling over we gather.
Carolyn - swahili??? Wow ... your life certainly sounds interesting to us ... but I can understand where you're coming from with the 'advice' from the elder ...
Scout - you make me laugh ...
You bloody Earth Mumma's (and don't go getting smug Mel, you are one too!) sh!t me - you go making the rest of us look bad with your natural everything. Yay:smiliedance: Good to hear things may be getting better. Em - You couldn't sound like a bad mummy if you tried!!!!!!!

Hmmmm............ A grasshopper walks into a bar and the bartender says 'Hey we have a drink named after you' and the grasshopper says 'What?.......Trevor'. :p (just for you scout!)
OMG ... I'm just here on the puter and Ethan was playing near me and I've just turned around to see him kneeling on one of those 60 litre plastic crate that's in here
I know that feeling Tam - The other night G yelled out OMG Mum Bronte's gonna fall and we raced into the lounge to find that the gates had been left open and B was happily crawling down the hallway....UPSTAIRS -. I want my baby back - just for a little bit longer.
loving daycare. They say she is such an easygoing baby - they love her. But she does cry when I arrive to pick her up and that stresses me. Like - she's happy when she's there, but the fact that she bursts into tears when she sees me (if she's just woken up especially) kind of indicates that she misses me? That she's stressed??
Don't worry too much Cosmic. She's probably just getting used to the new routine. Good luck starting uni.
He loves to creep up to me and start sucking and biting on my TOES
Vallerie dropped a bit of chocolate on the ground and he literally raced me to it, he beat me, and then ran away so I wouldn't take it off him!
I walked into the lounge room the other day and found B standing up against the lounge with G's toe in her mouth???????
Yesterday as i was getting out of the car i had a lollypop in my moth that G decided she didn't want and in a flash B had pulled it out of my mouth and put it in her own!!!!!! I couldn't believe how fast it happened!
Would you really drink that???? I know that I shouldn't be grossed out but I am.
hehe - all of this breast milk talk reminds me of a Freinds episode where Joey tasted breast milk and all of the others recoiled in horror.
I think its really funny that we all freak out about human breast milk and yet we don't have a problem with breast milk from a cow!!!!!!
Ok thats all from me - its taken me two hours to do this because the phone won't stop ringing.
Talk to you all soon.

Ok Tam, wait for it.... last night she slept ALL THE WAY FROM 7pm TO 5.30am!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gotta get back to the kitchen, tye-dying some of the kids' singlets and t-shirts! The old elastic-band method. I was initially just dying a pair of linen pants but then I looked at all the dye in the big pot I'm using and thought, what the hey.... Will post pics if there are no disasters!

Go Ariene!!!! Love the pics too Em. Aren't you clever tie dying, I've always wanted to try that.
Mel Luca is adorable, love the pics, and I agree you are skinny :p
Scout good to hear from you, and I agree, I would never drink breastmilk, well maybe if it was put through the same process as cows milk but I think it would lose the goodness which is why you would consider drinking it in the first place, I'd never drink cows milk straight from the cow either.
CG - OMG, I bet the stair climbing was scary. Lachlan threw himself headfirst off the couch the other day, while I was holding him, gives you an idea of how squirmy he is. He got a bruise on the frorehead and everything, just to try and Noah's cocoa pops
Leisha good to hear from you as always, I'll be in touch soon I promise.
BB I look at Lachlan and think the same thing, he isn't a baby baby anymore. It's funny we gave friend a lift to the clinic today, her little boy is 3 weeks old and twice the wieght Lachlan was when he was born, and I couldn't picture Lachy being any smaller then this tiny baby.
Kirsty - good to see you back, I remember chatting to you in the due in may thread
Queen - you always crack me up chicken, I say do whatever works for you!
Tam - my goodness, I'm with CG does T have weak bones or something? Or is it just that after breaking it the first time it was weaker?
Carolyn - that would drive me nutty having someone seriously saying things like that. I couldn't believe the wedding I went to that was so unbelievably sexest saying things like "Woman was born to serve man" WTF? Why anyone would agree to start your life together with that attitude amazed me.
Sorry to those I missed but I read everything and love you all :D

I scored myself two berry plush AIO!! I am so excited, just don't tell DF haha! I was supposed to be on a buying ban! It can start now, there was no way I was going to pass those up! I got Charli the Northern Lights and Ocean! woo-hoo!
Had a BAD night last night, Miss C was up from 2am until 5am screaming her head off. Mummy ended up crying along with her because the more i tried to comfort her the worse she got. She was fine this morning though, and i hope she has a good sleep tonight because she is having her photos taken tomorrow (yep more, but not by me)!
Speaking of photos, I have put lots of photos on my profile, the link is in the signature if anyone wants to have a looksie! Bit snap happy in this household! I just have to show one here though
Morning Aerobics (http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m315/mum2charli_2006/IMG_2854.jpg) This is how she quite often chooses to eat breakfast lol
Mel - Love luca in the wading pool! Very cute! I am going to get a baby carrier for my next one, I never knew anything about them when I had Charli and they look fantastic!
wktz - I must have missed your joining the thread! Welcome!!! I love my Dyson too (well I will do once it is fixed) Thats great that your Mum is coming up for Maddy's birthday, I am used to Charli being the most important member now too! You get used to it huh
BB - Love your avatar quote! Jake is so coot! I want to squeeze him (but you already knew that didn't you) Hope you get your camera fixed, its about time for another photo night i reckon!
Tam - Ethan's site is great! I love how you have done it and its so gorgeous looking at him from birth to now! He just keeps getting cuter and cuter! Bet that would have taken you a while to do!
Carolyn - Great photos! I just love the one of him in "first class" that is so so cute!!!! Ploise explain swahili lesson? I am totally lost!(not hard)
Pooks - Beautiful photos, especially that second one of her asleep! She looks like an angel! She is getting so big! Adelaide is beautiful, I will never live anywhere else that is for sure! Oh and by the way, the whole of Adelaide stinks of weed it wasn't just your hotel room  Just kidding, it is the weed capital of Australia though, It is just everywhere over here !! Glad to hear you had a good night, I hope things keep on improving for you! Thank you for writing what you did about not being able to post to everyone and for this to just be an outlet. I am definatley going to show my face around here more from now on, whether i have enough time or just five minutes! I love all you guys!

cherrygirl - hehehehe ... you cracked me up with your dumb joke! I knew what was coming, but still couldn't stop having a little giggle! I hope that phone stopped ringing for you. I HATE talking on the phone (after 11 years in insurance on the phone all day every day does it to you!)
With Tayla's collarbones, it was actually the left and right that each broke. The Dr said it doesn't take much at all to break their little bones, unfortunately. She probably just fell, put her arm out to instinctively to break the fall and literally broke her c/bone. Apparantly that part of the arm/shoulder is like the cartelidge (sp?) back bone bit of a chicken ... just one of those things, I think. Anyway, I'm pleased to report nothing else since :yelclap:.
I'd never drink cows milk straight from the cow either
Em, ... I'm with you here too. I'm not keen on much dairy at all and if I do have milk it's only full cream unless in cooking.
And thank you for your little comments on Ethan's site - much appreciated!
mum2charli - Berry plush ... seeing as though Em wouldn't let me have hers  I found some yesterday (pre-orders though in the colours I wanted), 'loaded my cart', but then realised I'd already spent about $150 on nappies this past week that I can't really afford, so quickly closed the browser so I wasn't tempted LOL!
Thanks for the kind words about the site ... I have been updating it fairly regularly so it's pretty easy to do ... as for Tayla's ... well that's another story. A bit like my scrapbooking efforts lately - non existant!
Well, we've got that 4th tooth thru now (can't remember if I mentioned before) and this one was HEAPS easier than the last one.
Tayla's school is having a Family Portrait fundraiser - was thinking we might do it (ie WE ARE GOING TO!) so we can have our first family photo altogether ... we have NEVER had one with 4 of us in it :o. That is so slack of us. Ethan's nearly 1 for god's sake!!!
Well must run and save my thongs from Ethan's hungry gob.
Tam xx
Too funny you all are, reminds me of the Tresemme and Queenie's cat story from like a year ago  And yes, it is hard to get thongs for chickens Caroline's DH.

I love those pics of Ariene sleeping and Charli with her leg up in the air, too cute.
I went to the Melbourne meet today, cute pic of Luca in the Vic meet photos.
Ohh, damn, now I've forgotten what else. What else is going on? Billy, how is your sleeping going since Ariene has passed the bug onto Rhianna?
LOL she slept great last night too!!! :smiliedance: Must have been the night for it...
I cannot and will not complain as mine only lasted a few days not 10 months...
I felt like a truck ran over me, I honestly don't know how you did it Em...
Hope Charli goes better tonight for you Carmen... It sux so much (((((HUGS)))))
Mel I was seriously just LMAO at Queenie's cat story from last year!!! Oh gawd too funny!!!
I love all these bubba photos!!! How much have they grown though??? Too scary. Rhianna will be 10 months old next weekend- which means its just over 2 months until her first birthday! Is that scaring anyone else???
She stood in the middle of the lounge room the other day, no hands- for about 10 seconds 3 times... I'm just watching her thinking that soon she will officially be a toddler... :o

BILLY, you sweetie, thanks for gettin' all excited with me about Ariene's sleeping! About if feeling awful- well, after a particually frustrating night, yes, I was feeling smashed the next day- but after a while I was getting on a bit of a high, yanno? Kinda on a roll... words might be slurred and I couldn't concentrate on any one thing for more then 5 seconds, but was still bouncing around the house!! And getting lots done too!
I have also stopped Ronan from sneaking into his bedroom at 3-4pm for a snooze. It's too late in the day for that, but he won't go earlier, so tough- in this house bedtime for littlies is between 7 and 8pm and we have a nice, quiet, cuddly routine going. So far, cutting out the day sleep has stopped him keeping mace up at night requesting bottles/milk/cuddles/thomas and the tank DVDs etc. So both my kids are angels at night now! Well, last night they were!
Glad Rhianna's sleepless phase has passed by! Never-to-return, too, hopefully!

Has anyone else's baby started throwing tantrums? I'm thinking its a case of monkey see monkey do, as in Lachlan's watching his monkey of a brother too much :p He now kicks and waves his arms and legs with a screechy noise when he doesn't like what's happening, like when he gets put down for a sleep, and then he stands at the end of his cot whinging and trying to climb out until I come back in and give him cuddles or rub his back. But if I try to give him cuddles or rub his back before he's had his tanty he won't have a bar of it. Noah used to be the same except without the physical protest, that came later.
Lachlan also throws tanties if I take something off him, or if I'm holding him and wants to get down.
I'm thinking Im in for some trouble with this one :(
the_queen
28-02-2007, 08:37
Yep, tanty's here, too :D
I say things like this all day long:
"oh darling that isn't safe for you.... yes I know you want it.... oh you're feeling frustrated aren't you..... I understand how you feel, but I'm sorry I can't let you eat that piece of plastic"
I have a 5 yr old who looks me in the eye and does the exact opposite of what I've just asked her, and then puts her hands on her hips and says "YOu can't make me" so I much prefer baby tantrums....

(It was you I think, not Mel?) ... they are great to read back on for a giggle I think!
Hope you got that damn mouse, Queenie. I HATE them too .
Tantrums? Y-E-S here too - big squarks and even he's even once or twice thrown himself on the floor on his knees and face into the floor with the fakest cry ever  (obviously got that from the big sister). I agree, tanty's from a baby are much easy to handle than a daughter's - "well, you can't make me".

Yep it was me, I was hoping for another 3 weeks at least, and I had him the next day LOL
I can't wait them to be saying that  Noah's completley ignoring me is bad enough

Now when he sees me he bursts out crying! :crying: :crying:

Hi all
Pookie - those pics were too cute. especially the first one. they can sleep anywhere hey?! Happy to hear that A slept so long. FINALLY! Hope it continues for you!
Cherrygirl - That joke was hilarious LOL
How funny about b with gs toe in her mouth. J does this too. and i HATE my feet being touched. ewwwww and J is eating thongs too. Gross
m2c - I just love the morning aerobics pic. is that called highchair yoga? looking forward to photo night. well yours anyway. did i mention my camera is broken LOL
B*C-what a great site. You have done well. Hope we get to see the portrait pictures.
HoopDeeDoo- Oh huge tantrums here. over food of course. Apparently i dont feed him quick enough. And he have the same problem with putting j to sleep too. Shaking the cot bar and going nutso. *sigh* tahlia never threw tantrums when she was younger. even in the terrible 2s. I think she is going to be a real handful as a teenager!
The queen - LOL this was me a few weeks ago. Standing on thehair while Dh chased the mouse around with the vacumn cleaner lol and he caught it. but it escaped in the backyard. he was fine.
well nothing new going on here. my home phone isnt working, my camera broke and my computer has 246 virus'. just great.
Jake is crawling properly now. Sleeping has goen back to how it was before. awful. I told Dh not to speak to me this morning because i hate the world :o Am over it now.
tahlia had her swimming carnival yesterday. She came 3rd. out of 3 lol. She has trouble with her breathing because of her asthma and her nose. I was very proud tho because she didnt quit.
Ok this is frusturating. jake was playing with the keyboard yesterday and now i have that overtype thing on. i dont know how to get it off. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr So ignore my missing letters and spaces L OL
Gotta go. j is destroying magazines.

I know it's hard but don't feel bad :hugs: Lachlan has fallen off the change table, and the couch, pulled a chair down onto to face and last night got stuck face first on the pavement half inside, half outside in the sliding door  He has split the bit between his gum and his lip twice! Thats what happens when you have an active baby I guess

Oh, Leisha :hugs: - you are NOT a bad mummy ... geez, I left Tayla "in charge" of Ethan (not really, but she was with him) whilst I was cutting Jamie's hair outside and she gave him an aeroplane ride in the air and they fell off the bed and she landed on him ... ... when he was only a few weeks old!!
Like Em said, it's part of having an active baby  ... I think these things happen sometimes too so we don't become too complacent also.
Ethan just stood for around 15 seconds on his own/no support. He was pretty proud of himself too as he started to dance around (as he does!) and then obviously fell to the ground on his bum.
Geez, Em. Birthday parties. I just don't know what we're going to do ... I think we might have to start brainstorming on here so we can grab some ideas!

Ohhh I just read what I wrote and remembering that as I stood up from the puter my waters broke! Memories.....
Be back later, supposed to be making dinner:o
OMG Queenie, I'd completely forgotten the cat bathing story...it's just as funny second time round, I'm still giggling
Tantrums?. Yes definitely....when we put Maddy on the change table, when I try and put her in the high chair, when I don't feed her quickly enough, ditto get her out of bed quickly enough and ESPECIALLY when the yoghurt runs out
Leisha please please don't feel bad - the ONLY reason Maddy hasn't fallen off of anything yet is because literally every baby I know has fallen off of something and their parents put the fear of God into me never to leave her side for a second. That and a whole lot of luck too I must say, it's been a close call a couple of times :D
Well DH has just finished cooking dinner, so I'm off to eat, ciao!

KIRSTY, I just realised who you are! :o Welcome back! I don't know if you remember me anyway, I joined when we were almost 8 months pregnant, but it's so cool you're here again :hugs:
Tantrums- well, not quite...but she arches her back and s c r e a m s in the highest-pitch voice I have ever heard from a person so little. It's a peircing squeal that she does when I wipe her hands and face after food, when I'm not getting her out of the high chair fast enough, when she's in bed with me in the morning and I want to keep dozing until Ronan wakes up and comes in, but she wants to get up...
I meant to say, for three weeks now she has only had one sleep a day- from around 10-11 to 12-1pm. I thought that when she started crawling everywhere that she would go back to needing 2 sleeps- but no, just the one!
And she eats three times a day now, and a decent amount of food too! About 1 whole tin (yes, tin) each time. Although she has decided that she loves some of the food I make after all- she hated it to start with! She loves lamb shank broth the best  :smiliedance: Everything has to be smooooth though still!

Em - It's a pain just having the one day sleep isn't it sometimes (but hey, who am I to complain with a generally perfect sleeper?). I live for Ethan's sleep times some days LOL.
So glad A's eating for you too - sound like everything is coming together for you all :fingerscrossed: :smiliedance:. How was she last night? Hope tonights a big sleep too!
Ethan has finally taken to eating LOTS of food - just loves it now, and will even eat chunks! Corn kernals (even though these come out whole the other end!), peas, soft pumpkin, potato, shredded bits of meat and he LOVES broccoli. He just turned the corner one day ... after straight out refusing anything but puree.

Hi ladies, in for my weekly post-work check in.
Wondering whyyyy I said I was enjoying being back at work. I have a new boss and, while he's wonderful, he's got me working way too hard for my liking. No more leisurely days in front of the computer, tapping away at my own pace. Now it's all meetings, meetings and more meetings. And talk! :ecomcity: One of the guys in the office summed him up perfectly the other day: "That man could talk under water with a loaf of bread in his mouth".
No wonder I spend most of my days trying to back out of his office after he summons me in for yet another 'chat'. Phew. Rant over.
My little man is still lovin day care, though I heard the other day that he tends to be a bit, ah, disruptive at sleep time. Apparently they can't put him to sleep when the other babies are already napping, because he chucks big tanties and wakes them all up. So yes, I also have a big nana chucker here. The screaming, back arching variety. Can't wait to see what this develops into when he's a toddler!!!
Queenie - did you get the mouse love?? Hate those damn things. Though I had a similar experience the other night. Settling my crying little man in his cot, looked in the mirror to check that my bum hadn't grown again, and saw a cockroach crawling up it. Needless to say I started screaming as loudly as Will.
Em (Pookie) and M2C - your photos were gorgeous. Em, you must be thrilled that Ariene is sleeping and eating better. I still can't believe that you could make it through so many bad days. You obviously have so much more strength and patience than a lot of people.
Leisha - I think everyone has got it right when they say not to feel bad about the fall. They're so active right now that they're bound to have little accidents. Will managed to pull his highchair on top of himself twice in 12 hours last week. And yeah, I felt like a **** mum who was one step away from having DOCS come.
BB - Hope the sleeps are going a bit better. I bet Miss T goes to my friend's son's school. He lives nearby and had his swimming carnival the other day too. You know every time I see a baby around Will's age I wonder if it's J??
Hi to everyone else - I tried to get to everyone today. Even opened a second window. But my computer is going really slowly and driving me nuts.
Might come back later.

Sorry, but I HAD to laugh ... our Manager was a bit the same and whilst I always felt guilty having a chat to her (sometimes it could have been 30-40 minutes unrelated to work! - esp as I was about to finish up) ... I figured I'd already put the hard yakka in the previous 11.5 years!

Thanks everyone :hugs: I know in hindsight that they will have tumbles etc... just kicking myself all the same. Doesn;t help the fact that when i rang DH (in tears) he said don't take him up to the hospital as they will report it to Children Services (one of the guys he works with took their son (who is the same age) up to Mackay hospital on the weekend as he had rolled off the couch and the next day CS were giving him the third degree and told him that the hospital had reported it  ) I did however manage to get him into to see our inlaws family doctor and he reassured me that he was fine. I told him I felt like a bad mum and well he didn't agree with me - told me that I was a great mum and the fact that I was so upset showed it. Then he told me to go home and have a few rums (his magical cure for anything apparently  ) and relax!
I had a very light sleep last night but Drewster slept like a log!
Sorry for the me me me post - just wanted to thank you all! :hugs:

:chef: time........ talk to you all soon.
i know this question wasn't directed at me but i think my boy's digestive system handled grain bread a lot better than white and it REALLY helped when he was constipated :yelclap:

I met up with someone from BH for the first time on Wed and Charli had a photo shoot! Was so much fun! Not sure if I can post them on here but will find out and if I can I will show you all! They turned out just beautiful even though miss cranky pants only cracked about 2 smiles!
Tam - Well the two BP i have i got in medium and now sadly i think i should have gotten the large! Silly me washed them though so I can't exchange :( Bet you can't wait to get yours! Yay to Ethan standing! OMG my little one is still trying to crawl properly! Clever little man!
Billy - OMFG yes that scares me that it isn't too long till her b'day! I already have her big pressie organised, now its just a matter of thinking of what to do. OMG yay to R for standing on her own!!! Very clever!!!
Em - Loved your tie dying! Wish I was that clever, it looked fantastic!
Emma - we get tantrums here too but if they are ignored she stops and starts being nice again! wonder how long that will last!
Queenie - I have a mouse in my grill *shudder* I never ever use it, don't think i ever could again but i hear him scurrying on the alfoil late at night ewwwww
Leisha - You are anything but a bad mum! Charli fell off her potty yesterday and has a big sore on her nose! I feel bad too but these things have to happen for you to be able to learn from them! Hope his lip is ok!

Hi guys, I have been reading but running out of time to post lately....you gals sure can talk :p
Queen lol about your mouse! I hope you are able to sit back down on that chair now.
BB it sounds like you have had a bad run, everything happens in 3's so hopefully thats you for the year. We always have things breaking down here.
Leisha don't feel bad! We all have stories to tell and always will have. Unfortunately we can't be everywhere all of the time no matter how hard we try.
Brenton brings Abbey into bed in the mornings for a cuddle then gets ready for work. I normally have a play with her then we all get up, WELL the other morning I fell asleep with her on the bed with me. Brenton walked in and said WTF TRISH!!! Yikes she didn't fall of but was teetering on the edge.
Yes to tantrums over here. Both my kids are putting on displays at the moment. Cooper is actually at his most difficult I just don't know what to do.:( He is making me so mad that I have to put him in his room so I don't smack him. The last couple of weeks have been testing to say the least. And to top it off Abbey won't go to ANYONE else without screaming her lungs out......its great to be loved but sheesh! She doesn't even like her Daddy much, won't take a bottle etc etc.
But besides that all is fab! We are going through the process of buying a house at the moment..............I really don't want to move again but we have decided this is it we are staying in Perth for now.
Gotta go and clean before the kids wake up,
Talk soon.

I'm with you on that one Trish. Not quite to the screaming extent, but I've definitely got a little Mummy's boy at the moment. He's fine when I'm not around apparently, but as soon as he sees me he loses it.
Oh, and he's gone from being quite independant to wanting to climb all over me all day. He'll be crawling around, catch sight of me and come scampering over and lie on the ground crying till I help him stand up. I'm starting to feel like a set of monkey bars.
Leish and Trish - we had an accident here this morning. My coffee table has really square edges, so yesterday I went out and bought those little plastic corner thingos. I put them on last night. This morning Will was standing at the coffee table when he slid sideways, scratching his face on the edge. (ie, far, far away from the plastic corner...):(
OMG he is just playing at my feet. I thought he was quiet. Looked down just as he was about to put the power lead from the fan into his mouth. He must have unplugged it, the little :devil6: .

Hi Ladies,
Sorry I've been so slack that I have'nt checked in for a few weeks now. I have discovered the art of knitting so all my free time is spent in the lazyboy, fan on full, knitting soakers for Em.
I tried to read through the several pages that I missed but...I can't remember what I read (man, you guys can most certainly talk!!!).
So as a result of this...what's happening here???? Still no teeth, we attempted to take our first step yesterday:eek: , eating everything and anything under the sun, sleeping through, however, still sleeping in our room ( and I wonder where the intimacy has gone).
Jason's work has picked up, so I will hold off returning to work, until Em's placement at the Montessori Early Learning Centre kicks off on the 8th May. Can't wait to get back to work and hoping to have a chin wag with Sheree on a weekly basis if possible (***note to self, must teach Sheree to "kill" a lotto terminal without injury to self!!!...lol!!!!***).
Heading to the Hunter Valley in 2 weeks...hope it's cooler than it is now;) . My SIL arrives on Thursday from cold, blistery London...hehehe, she's gonna melt away here.
Anyhoo, take care all, and I am going to pull my finger out and trying to be on here once a day to say HI:wave: .

Ariene is sleeping until around 5am. From 7pm to 5am... Then she goes back to sleep until 7am. Ronan sleeps until 7am too!! OMG, this sounds exactly like my house, my kids are always climbing on me. I can't keep my jammies up in the morning because Lachlan is climbing up me  Noah is going through a stage at the moment where he has to be put in his room too. Grrr driving me nuts. Poor little guy though, he's lost all his dummies, and to buy more would be rediculous so I'm being a tough mummy. He cried for an hour this afternoon, I had to sit next to his bed stoking his head for him to go to sleep, but he went to bed tonight OK, although it was a bit later then usual, and he had a little teary. He's lost his Buzz and Londy (woody) toys which are his favourites, and left his fav puzzles at mum's shop on Tuesday, so not going well for the little devil lately.
Lachlan is a total wriggle worm when changing nappies, nothing keeps his attention, except if I give him a wet wipe which he tears into tiny pieces and tries to eat.
Welcome back Sonia I was wondering where you where. Does Em's green nappy still fit?

Welcome back, Son ... missed you, hun :hugs:. I had a few chuckles in your post too. It's great that Jason's work has picked up. And the almost first step - congrats!
Ethan had 1 step forward today and got scared again, so dropped to the floor. Oh well, I'm happy with him being less mobile ...even though he's so damn fast now. We have to race to go into the fridge/freezer/dishwasher/pantry/toilet/bedroom/out to the bin - anyway in fact, without having him sticking his nose, head, body, etc in there too.
What's this story with Sheree & lotto terminal??? Say hi to her from me next time you speak (I assume you keep in contact regularly) ... I miss her :( :hugs:.
Talking of lotto ... some lucky people from the nearest lotto agent from us won Powerball Thursday night - something like $11 734 000  ... I got all excited and went to check my ticket, then realised a) I already had (stoopid me!) and b) I didn't win ANYTHING anyway ...
YAY, Em on the big sleeps from both kids. I'm sooo happy for you.
Oh, and talking of being used as climbing frames etc ... I'm not Mum to Ethan, I'm his trampoline. He quite happily bounces (standing) on me all the time if he's not climbing up my legs.
Ok, that's my dribble over for the night.

Know what's so funny? She can zoom about on her hands and knees, and stop to sit up on her bum... but if she ends up on her back she is STUCK. Tam - His name is Jake. No middle name! Oh and i wanted to tell you about an article in the gold coast newspaper today. They were talking about a lady who says that people can be defined by their names and one of the example names was Ethan - So the descriptions was: 'Nice guys, helpful and on the quiet side if they don't know you. They observe others to see how they get ahead and do the same'. I thought it would be good to see if you think that's what Ethans personality is like.
Oh and i agree - my sister is a superwoman. I couldn't believe she did it! She's normally a real wimp.
Em (pk) - I'm so glad to hear you are getting some sleep. I'm surprised you don't feel groggy with getting so much sleep after having gone without for so long!

I had to work today, and DH found one of Lachy's baby size dummies which Noah was asleep in 5 secs with - after an hour and a half of tears  I will be buying him a new dummy tomorrow, because I'm a wimp, and I figure he only likes the expensive othedontic types, and he only has it at nap and bed times, and I'm a wuss and it's so heartbreaking to see him so upset over something so simple  He did get his puzzles back today too, so he was slightly happier. Although we are still missing Buzz and Londy (woody)

I went shopping today with Mum and we were getting some groceries, when Ethan leant over the side of the trolley (he was strapped in so couldn't go anywhere!) towards a lady heading in the opposite direction and made a growling noise at her to get her attention, smiled & then put his arm out towards her (he does this arm thing to EVERYONE!) as if to say "hey, don't you dare ignore me!"
They observe others to see how they get ahead and do the same' He adores Tayla and his whole face lights up whenever she walks into the room! He's like her little shadow and is as cheeky and as much a monkey as she is! ... so yes, agree!
Interesting stuff!
My baby now crawls, but I'm no trampoline yet!! No standing here.
Know what's so funny? She can zoom about on her hands and knees, and stop to sit up on her bum... but if she ends up on her back she is STUCK. She can't even roll over and she can't sit up from lying down! But what's funnier is how she looks when she realises she's stuck like a corgi on a bucket... precious
That would be cute! Congrats on the crawling & zooming!
Sheree and Wade are now "Golden Casket Lottery Agents" and I work in the Contact Centre at Golden Casket as a Agent Specialist Consultant (I help with Agent's enquiries and terminal faults etc...);)
I knew they bought that newsagency/lotto agent. I didn't realise what you did (actually, come to think of it ... you did mention something ages ago I think) ... so Sheree's had some problems then??? And I love your title - Agent Specialist Consultant. I used to be a "specialist" in my paid employment ... and we had to answer the phone saying it too - very embarrassing!!!
Just wondering if any of the bubs have started to drop either a BF or FF. In the past few weeks Ethan generally has dropped his 4th bottle of the day and only has 3. He has one when he wakes, another 2-3 hours later, and then goes for up to 6-7 hours before his next bottle, which usually takes him to dinner & bed time. He's certainly not missing out, but I can't remember what's normal!
Well, must run ... it's 1.45am here. Not really tired, but should go to bed. Just got home from working/volunteering working at our speedway bar. Had fun, but I'm buggered and we have another HUGE night there again tomorrow.
Have a great Sunday all!

Hi everyone! I'm one tired May Mummy. Had a great day with Will on Friday. He seems to be learning new things every day and is really starting to develop his own personality.
After such a great day, Friday night was a nightmare. He developed gastro and couldn't stop :barf: . I've never been more frightened and upset in my life. It was so hard to see my little man going from playful and chatty to so sick and listless in about the space of an hour. We ended up taking him to the Children's Hospital where they said he had gastro.
He's started to get a bit better, but is still very quiet and clingy and not eating/drinking much. I, on the other hand, can't stop :crying: . I guess it's made me realise how much support we don't have here in Sydney. Our families live up north and we don't have any friends here who have kids. The only friends we do have around here have 'dropped us like a hot pie' (as DP says) since we had Will, I guess due to the extreme lifestyle change. The thing is, I'd love to get away, but there's no way work would transfer us to be closer to our parents, so we're just stuck here. I'm going to talk to my boss about it tomorrow, but I know he'll say I've got buckley's chance of getting out of Sydney in the near future...
Anyway, enough about me.
Em (Pookie) - congrats to Miss A on crawling. That corgi in a bucket description sounds too funny. She's doing much better than Will if she's up on her hands and knees. He's still commandoing, after more than a month, and can't get himself into a sitting position. He also can't crawl quietly, without 'chatting', which means he can't sneak up on me I suppose!
CG - congrats on the new arrival! We just found out our best friends (who of course live up north!!!) are expecting their first baby in August. I can't wait.
BC - when Will is eating normally, he only has three bottles a day. He usually has one when he wakes up, then one with lunch and dinner. I try and get him to top up with water when I can too.
HDD - I can see I'm going to be exactly the same as you with the dummy. I've gone from vowing that Will would never have one to wondering how he'll ever give it up. Can't ask my mum for advice. Apparently when I was small we lived across the road from a small shop. Every time she told me she'd 'lost' my dummy and couldn't get a new one, I'd walk across to the shop and get one myself. ;)

KDK - Hope Will feels better soon ... I don't recall Tayla ever having gastro as a baby and Ethan's not had it, so I can only imaging how bad it is for the littlies. :hugs: for you all.
And as for the change in relationships with friends w/out kids ... unfortunately it does happen sometimes.
Love the dummy story too

I wouldn't worry Em! He's only having it for sleep-time anyway. I wouldn't give mine up, so the Easter Bunny took it one year... I was four though
Haven't really read anything just yet - just checking in quickly to say hi. I hope that everyone is well.
I've been so busy but yet, I've feel like I've achieved nothing. I've been spending a lot of time at the gym and have just started a weight loss challenge so I hope to add to the 6kg that I've already lost over the last few weeks.
DP is now back in town permanently (that could explain why I'm busy, I now have 2 children). It's great having him here but there is a little bit of adjustment required.
Sax is good - babbling lots, cruising confidently, scored another tooth this week (now 7) and generally always happy.
I also came down in my medication again this week so now I'm down to a therapeutic dose of my anti-depressants rather than a "keep me alive" dose. :smiliedance:
Will check in soon and catch up on lots of posts.
Kisses, hugs and lots of love to all.
Hope you are OK KDK, sorry I can't remember you real name. Hugs to you, it must be hard when he is so sick.
I haven't been around much as Connor has been in a LOT of trouble at school, they are calling in a psychologist to do as assesment and all. He has turned really bratty, but comes home and is normal. Extremely good at the actual school work when he will sit and do it. The grade 6 boys told the principal that he was picking on them.
Yay to Ariene on the crawling, Luca is still commando crawling. He is so fast and he even has callouses on the inner of his feet when he has pushed along. And to Sax on the toothy of course!
Hi everyone else :hugs:

oh Mel :hugs: Hope this stuff with Connor gets sorted out! Would you consider switching schools, do you think it could be something to do with the teacher or perhaps some of the other kids? How bloody stressful for you, and poor Connor - obviously somethings going on, poor little man, hope it all gets sorted soon :hugs:
KDK - yuk, gastro... hope that is all cleared up and gone and never to return!!
Scouty-wouty - YAY for the therapeutic-only dose!!! And 7 teeth!!??!! What a little chomper! Curtis is getting his 6th at the moment.
Well, I officially have a toddler. As in, he's walking, independantly, no holding on. Multiple steps. Many many times per day. For the last 5 or 6 days.
He can crouch down to pick something up and then stand up again, and he can regain his balance if he gets the wobbles up. So he is ON THE MOVE baby!! And you should see my lounge room, it seriously looks like a fricken bomb has hit it. Vallerie is getting great with helping tidy up - but as she's putting the board books into the bookshelf, he's behind her chucking them out again. She gets so angry - there's been lots of "I hate you! I wish you weren't my brother!"s lately.. she is very melodramatic, gets very upset at the slightest provocation, whereas he already seems to have a very easy-going personality. So life with these two is going to be............................. interesting.............
Curty is 10 months old today! He is getting his 6th tooth, he still barely eats any solid food but has a lot of energy and is extremely happy, very active and seems perfectly normal, so we'll just keep going as is. He has 6 or 7 breastfeeds over 24 hours, and bites and licks and tastes of whatever I'm eating (if it's appropriate... although today I had a bit of chocolate and put a little on my finger for him...)
Hi Everyone,
Just a quick hello as Maddy and I are both sick with the flu at the moment :( . I seem to have been hit hardest with it and :fingerscrossed: she will just get a mild dose...thank God for breastfeeding - she gives me the germs, I incubate them and then pass on all the antibodies to her so she copes just fine:laughing: . Hopefully Will can avoid this one as well, he's starting a new job today so the last thing he needs is the flu!!.
I can't remember everyones posts, but Kath I really hope Will is feeling better soon, that must have been so scary. I sympathise with not having family around, we are in the same boat.
Mel - hope everything gets sorted out with Connor, my friend is struggling with something similar at the moment with her 8 year old, not fun.
Queenie - Yay to Curtis!!. I can't believe he is actually walking, what a clever little man!!.
So glad to hear that other people have little clingons at the moment too, what is with that!. Maddy will play quite happily but as soon as she sees me she speeds over and cries if I don't pick her up. If I try to leave the room she cries unless Will distracts her, and she climbs all over us all the time...the concept of going around something is completely foreign to her  . I expect the clingy behaviour at the moment when she's sick, but I'm not sure what's going on the rest of the time!.
Ok, time to go and take more panadol....this is the down side of breastfeeding.....what I wouldn't give for a codral right now....'sigh'...
Hugs to everyone,
Kirsty

Hi all, things are much much much better here. Little man almost back to his usual self. Just have to get him to eat a bit more and he'll be right. He's also not fussed on drinking. He's a bottle bub, and went to bed tonight having had just 20mls - absolutely refused anything extra.
Scout - yay on the drop in medication. I also know what it's like to have an adult child. Fun hey!!
Mel - hope things are improving for Connor at school this week. (Oh, and it's Mardi. Or, according to the man when I ordered my coffee this morning: Paddy. Like a little old Irishman.)
Queenie - loving your new avatar. Very cute. And I can't believe Curtis is crawling. OMG!
Hopefully Will can avoid this one as well, he's starting a new job today so the last thing he needs is the flu!!.
You know Kirsty, as I was reading this I thought you were talking about my Will. Then I thought, "Hmm, my Will doesn't have a new job. Not unless she means working out how to open the balcony door and race off in search of cockroach carcasses..." Hope you're feeling better.
HDD - those pics are too cute. And is that one of your nappies in the pic near the video?? Verrry nice.
Hi everyone else. Going to try and get an early night in.

Hi All,
I have just come back from a weekend in Dar and have read my way through many pages of May mummies that I am behind.
It sounds like everyone is having something full on happen at the moment.
To all the mummies that are adored, climbed on and used as trampolines at the moment. Enjoy it, I currently feel the opposite. Greg has become number 1 in Ryans life atm and I am not only a set of boobs  . Ryan gets so excited when Greg gets home from work and he is really clingy with Greg atm. While it is nice to have a break, I feel a little left out :(
Queenie - Curtis walking - congratulations, or is that commisserations?
KDK - Glad to hear that you are over the gastro. I loved the dummy story.
Scout - Sounds like things are moving forward for you, thats great to hear.
wktz - I hope you both are feeling better soon.
HDD - I loved the photos, I have not done the video yet.
Pookie - Congratuations on your sleeping success. I am very excited for you. Can you tell me, how do you achieve your success.
Stella - i hope things improve with Connor at school. Did I get it rights, the grade 6 kids accused the 5 year old of bullying! Thats 12 year olds. Geez, tell them to put their big girl pants on and get over it! (or is that politically incorrect)
Ok pms are over - sorry but DS is awake.
I will try and be more attentive to MM this week
OMG, Ryan WAS sleeping in his pram and because he was alseep when I put him in there didn't put his harness on. When I just went to pick him up he was STANDING in the pram with the cloth for keeping the light out over his head. I am so lucky he did not fall. I will be using the harness in future.
yes, Connor was picking on the big boys. yesterday he went outside the school gate and got the lecture about leaving the school grounds so today he threw he hat over the fence onto the road ' but I didn't go out of school my hat did' he said. Grrrrrrr, running past everyone at school while they are lining up and saying 'so long suckers' to be first in the classroom. He is a pain.
OMG I can't believe Curtis is walking! I want a baby not a toddler, i am going to have to overcome my toddler fear asap. But i just remember how hard it was and adorable at times as well.
So cute Em (HDH) even little Lachie is standing. WOW
Are you feeling sad Carolyn that you aren't the favourite of the month. I can imagine you as a giant set of boobs with legs coming towards Ryan.
Mardi- I'm glad your hosue is over the spews. And Kirsty I hope you all improve asap.
Hey Scout- how you feeling? See you soon?

Queen - so cool about the walking!! It a nice change when they can do that!
Mel - Poor Connor, hope things get sorted out with school.
AM - Don't worry about having a daddy's boy, they still come to you for kisses and cuddles when times get tough :hugs:
Mardi - glad to hear hear your little man is on the mend. Don't worry too much about the food, but to try to get those bottles into him, or water if milk is to yucky for his tummy. It's so hard when they won't eat or drink, it's really scary. And yep they sure are my nappies, feel free to look through, they are all photos I've posted at one time or another :D Oh and about the friends thing, it's been a long time since I've done anything with friends, I don't have any left. Life is busy for everyone, kids or no kids. I don't have the drive to do the things I used to do, those days are long behind me.
Kirsty - that sucks about the flu, hopefully it will pass quickly, and thank you for your compliment on the boys, I think they are pretty gorg too
Scout - Glad to hear things are going well for you at the moment, it must be a big adjustment to have DP home, but I'm sure it will feel like he never left soon enough.

Hi May Mums,
Gosh long time between posts..... I can't keep up at the moment :o
Queen I can't believe Curtis is walking that is very exciting.
Tam Ethan almost walking too? Yay
KDK Glad you are feeling better, Lilla and I had gastro the other week, so very awful. Loved the dummy story hehe
M2C Congrats on the win…. and the new berry plush
Em (pookie) that’s great news about the sleep and crawling
Em I shall send you a pm, the nappies are fab  thanks again
Mel did you girls end up catching up? I have to PM you for some BH's too :). Fingers crossed that you get some answers soon for Connor.
Lilla is doing really well, although super frustrated that she can only commando crawl. Also her day sleeps seem to be changing pattern too, she normally has 1.5hrs in the morning and afternoon, but she seems to be trying to drop the morning. Anyone know when bubs normally drop from two to one sleep?
Take care lovely ladies
HoopDeeDoo
06-03-2007, 20:15
Not sure when they normally drop a sleep it depends on the baby. Noah only dropped to one sleep a couple of months ago, and on a good day he will sleep for 3 hours in that sleep. Otherwise he plays in his room for an hour or two, then sleeps. Either way it great  Lately he has been having the odd day here and there where he flat out refuses sleep and being civil, so he definately needs a sleep.
Lachlan on the other hand has two short sleeps of about an hour and a half still, in the morning, and afternoon.
Not sure about sleeps either, we have a rubbish routine here. Ask LAmbie she knows all that stuff about what ages etc....
Christine we didn't catch up, didn't want to meet without you! No, Scout had to work at the last minute. We will try again soon.

Anyone know when bubs normally drop from two to one sleep?
I don't know when most do.. but Ariene started only having one nap of about 2 hours a month ago.
Ronan is 3 in June and stopped having naps altogether 2 months ago...
Pookie - Congratuations on your sleeping success. I am very excited for you. Can you tell me, how do you achieve your success.
We co-slept through a really difficult period for her- when she was waking up to 8 times a night. I didn't both trying to settle her in the cot and I ignored everyone who told me that she needed to! I just did whatever was easiest. Co-slept, fed all the time. Finally got her started on a couple of solid meals a day. Still breastfeeding! :D
Then I put her in the cot one evening and she was ready to go to sleep in there on her own.. She was just ready. Ever since, I have fed her until sleepy, put her in her cot all snuggled up in her grobag (after a pretty predictable, quiet routine- sing song, rock in chair etc) and she has gone to sleep.
I personally think that just relaxing and going with the flow, instead of makng it a struggle makes it much easier to cope with. Worked for Ronan too- he was 18 months before he went to sleep in his cot and not in my arms with a bottle. But because I waited until he was ready, the transition was easy!
That's my theory, anyway!
Em, I know exactly what you mean about friends, I am much the same these days.. Family life just seems to take up all my energy, you know? I do totally throw myself full-on into that role though, it's a choice.. I'm still a nice person though :D
I'm husband-less until Friday night (from yesterday am). It will be the longest time he and I have been apart...
It's so tough on Ronan. He cried tonight when he went to bed because that is usually mason's job and Ronan loves 'cuddles for the daddy' at bedtime. He wants mace to brush his teeth and keeps forgetting that he is at work and not playing hidey with him, waiting to be found in the house... It's a difficult age for this.. :crying:

Does anyone remember Min? From the preggers stage?
Well I met here today  She is the co ordinator for reusable nappy week - so it was really funny we were :ecomcity: about the nappy kit, and she asked if I was on Bub Hub because she remembered someone having a Noah and a Lachlan around the same age. Isn't that funny? :D
She said she couldn't keep up with the thread so she gave up trying, which I hope others aren't doing right now. I still love hearing from people even if they don't have hours to catch up on what everyone is talking about.
BTW our nappy kit is pretty pov, there is no bamboo at all, no BBH, no GK, no honeyboy, no bumgenious, no berry plush, not much of anything really, so I'm going to bring along some of mine, hope they don't get flogged though I'd be very sad :crying:

Oh Em thats so sad about Ronan and Daddy :crying: Scott might have to travel to America for a week in June, I think I'll see if I can stay with my bro and his fiance agian, I hate being alone in this house at night, gives me the creeps
Hello,
Well Em and I have been sick with a blasted head cold for the last few days and as a result have missed swimming and a Mum's meet:gloomy: , which is quite upsetting, as I LIVE for these days. For me, nothing beats adult conversation atm!
Still no teeth, and still no signs of them coming up anywhere in the near future...I'm beginning to get the feeling I'm missing out on something. And other bubs have 7 already!!!!
:hugs: to all the other unwell Mums and bubs.
We also confirmed Em's daycare arrangements today. She is going to a Montessori Early Learning Centre from May 8th and they have a coth nappy policy during the day (they supply). Me so happy, as I didn't want her in sposie's during the day, especially during the hotter months.
On the sleeping issue...from what I understand, most tots will drop the second sleep between 18-24months. However, I agree with HDD...it really comes down to the baby. I mean even now Em can go easily 5-6 hours without even showing any signs of being tried and cranky. Our sleep routine is pretty much adhoc. She sleeps 12 hours during the night, up at 6:30am. First nap is generally between 9:30-10:30, which is usually 2 hours. And her afternoon nap is somewhere between 1:30-3:00, and sleeps for 1-1 1/2 hours.
Queenie - walking:eek: Em keeps trying to take a few steps, but she's still a little wobbly while in motion and finds the floor pretty fast with her bot, or goes down onto her knees and walks along this way:laughing: Not looking forward to the walking at all...I mean she's already to quick for me when crawling!!!
Carolyn - I'm sure that you're still #1. Maybe Ryan's just going through the stage of missing Daddy during the day. Especially now that he's older and becoming more independant.
Mel - what a tough thing to be going through with your son. Do you think it's behavioural or something else?
Scout - congrats on the medication reassesment. I bet you are beginning to feel so much better. Jason recently had his dosage dropped (suffers/ed from anxiety) and he's back to old self, which is something I have missed for the last year and half.
Hi to anyone I've missed.

Sonia don't worry your not missing out on the no teeth situation, they will come when they are ready, and such a pain when they start lol. Montessori is a great education system, I would love to send Lilla to a school but we do not have one in our area at the moment. Anyways let me know how it goes.
Mel yeah I new you all couldn't meet up without Miss Lilla and I how unfair! I think we should catch up soon.... maybe next week?
Em(HDD) I don't remember Min as I was not in the preg thread..... thats great you got to catch up though.
Em (pookie) Poor Ronan, only two more sleeps till daddy comes home :)
Thanks for the advice on the day sleeps, I guess I will keep trying for the next week or so and see how she goes. I really need those sleeps to study at the moment :fingerscrossed: :o
Have a great day Mwah Mwah
Hi Everyone,
I think I have about five minutes before Maddy wakes up, and I have a very uncomfortable dog with a hot spot that I have to go and fix, so apologies but I'll have to leave the personals for later!.
I was just wondering though, has anyone else had any incidences of their babies choking?. Maddy has done it three times in the last two days, not badly but enough to scare the hell out of me and take about 10 years off my life :( . It seems to be from her just stuffing as much as she can into her mouth - once it was a piece of toast, once a tissue and once a piece of her book  . I managed to fish them all out and was astounded at how much she'd got in there.
has anyone else experienced this at all??.
Bugger, she's awake, the poor dog will have to wait :D

Hi ladies!
Kirsty we have only had one major incident in choking and that was only a couple of days ago. Abbey was standing in her hop and pop eating and must have tried to swallow too much of her milk arrowroot, I turned around to an awful expression, gasping and then this awful cry. I am normally a calm person in a crisis but I was shaking like a leaf. I put my finger in her mouth to check and it was lodged at the back of her throat-I yanked her out and tilted her up to put over my lap. As I did that she coughed at the same time and it came flying out. Very scary stuff so :hugs: to you!
Well my life is :banghead: :banghead: at the moment. Cooper is giving me such a hard time at the moment I really am at my wits end. I just don't know what to do :gloomy:
Abbeys is waking up .....back soon!

Hi May Mums,
Gotta be quick - packing to go up to the folks for the weekend. Yay!!! :fingerscrossed: get some me time and do something un-mum-like, like go to the movies...
Trish - :hugs: to you . What's happening with Cooper? I hope it all sorts itself out. And the choking! We've had a couple of more minor versions of that here. Now I just watch Will like a hawk while he's eating.
Wktz - um, what's a dog with a hot spot? :o
Lillasmummy - Will still has his two very definite day sleeps. At this stage, I think he'd be out of control without them, but I'm sure it's all up to the individual baby.
Lambie - I'm so glad for you that you've got Em into a daycare centre that you're happy with. I'm thrilled with mine, which has made leaving Will just a little bit easier. (Though I did ask about cloth nappies and they looked at me like I was from another planet!!!) Hope you are both feeling better soon.
Will is over his gastro, but has passed it onto us. I had to work till 1am this morning, and all I wanted to do was come home for some sympathy. When I walked in the front door, DP was white as a ghost and moaning about being at death's door. Guess who managed to haul herself out of bed today to look after bub while dad sooked all day????
Anyway, better go, was trying to be quick.
Take care. And get better soon sick ladies and babies.

This is probably going to be another long post ... sorry in advance (catching up on personals) - I just can't seem to find the time anymore.
Scout - so glad you've got DP back full time. My DP is on holiday's at the moment (only really 2nd day into it now & he's driving me crazy!) - I can't wait till he goes back in a week & a half (and I'm secretly hoping they'll call him in early next week LOL). And yay for the 7 teeth and your reduction in medication - that's fantastic :smiliedance:
Stellaj - just noticed your slight name change! How's Connor going now? Could he perhaps (as someone else mentioned) be bored at school as he's not being challenged enough??? Seems quite strange he plays up at school - Tayla's usually an Angel there and a nightmare at home LOL. I really hope it sorts itself out soon. Tayla was "expelled" from daycare before he second birthday and that was terrible. I can only imagine what you're going through :hugs:.
Queenie - a huge congrats for Curtis' walking!!! That's fantastic news. He's on the ball this one, hey?! I think it must be the older sister's influence. Some things Ethan does, I just shake my head at ... he can only learn it from 1 person! Well done on being able to get Vallerie to help clean up - Tayla just looks at me, crosses her arms and usually says something like "that's what you get with a baby..."!!! I'm so not looking forward to the teenage years with this one!
Kirsty - how's the flu now??? Hope you're both feeling better. Hope your DH didn't get your bugs. How scary about the choking ... I'm so hoping Ethan never does this, esp with Jamie around. He's so paranoid about giving him anything slightly lumpy and pretty much not pureed. He drives me insane, so I feed him the good stuff during the day when he's not here! Naughty, I know!
Em (HDD) - those piccies and video were gorgeous! The boys are certainly growing up real fast!
And yes, I do remember Min from pg days!
KDK - How's Will's feeding going now? Hope he's getting some more fluids into him.
Carolyn - :hugs: to you for feeling left out. Tayla has always been a Daddy's girl, and was what I say, "never really fussed about me" LOL, so I was secretly hoping for a mummy's boy which I got, but he's still really attached to his daddy too. It is so gorgeous though when he gets excited when Jamie comes home. He hears the garage door go up and looks at the door with anticipation and crawls really quickly too him when he walks in the door. It's so lovely - and I then feel rejected for the rest of the night, but I'm not too worried as I'm told they change and do become Mummy's boys! How scary for the standing in the pram too
Lillasmummy - Ethan's day sleep patterns are quite erratic. I really need to catch him at the right time in the morning to get him to have a morning sleep (which is for about 1.5-2 hours) which then means he'll usually have the same mid-arvo, and I normally have to wake him to pick up Tayla. Other days he'll get by with a 20 minute power nap that keeps him going (still grizzly sometimes) till bedtime. AND, if I'm really lucky, he'll can have 3 decent 1-1.5 hour naps in a day (they're quite rare though now of course!). Tayla was still having daytime naps till she was 5 as they have quiet time at daycare and she'd be that buggered she'd usually sleep! I'm fully aware I've been blessed with wonderful sleepers.
I hope you're getting the time you need for study.
Em (PS)
Em, I know exactly what you mean about friends, I am much the same these days.. Family life just seems to take up all my energy, you know? I do totally throw myself full-on into that role though, it's a choice.. I'm still a nice person though
I agree - I'm probably a selfish person though as quite often I can't be bothered meeting up with friends .. I just don't have the energy or time (not that I do a great deal LOL). How's everything going with Daddy away for Ronan & you? Hope he went to bed easier tonight (((HUGS)))
Lambie - Great news about the d/c & cloth nappy policy. How you feeling now - has the head cold passed?
Trish - (((HUGS))) for you with the choking. Even though you think you may have panicked, you did the right thing, so you've done well. I'm sure I'd be shaking like a leaf if that happened here.
So sorry Cooper's not being an easy child ATM. I really hope it passes soon for you all. I had heaps of trouble with Tayla, so I did the PPP classes - maybe look at doing something like this. It's not to do with badly behaved kids as such, but gives fantastic strategies to deal with their behaviour etc. Maybe speak with your GP or CHN who should be able to give you details.
Oh, and I received the catalogue today - Tayla's already given me her list!!!!
Ok, essay over! A huge HI!!!! to everyone else xxx

KDK - didn't see your last post - glad Will's better and bugger about you & DH getting sick. Hopefully a nice weekend at your folks will do the trick!
We're going down south tomorrow for 4 days which should be nice  - the weather has been horribly hot here, so it will be nice for a cooler change.

KDK have a fab weekend away and enjoy the you time. Gosh ikwym about seeing a film, it has been ages since I saw one too

Hi May Mummies,
I hope you don't mind me joining in, I'm new to bubhub. I have one Big Little Guy who's just turned 10mths, and sounds a lot like your darlings.. he's into everything, pulling himself up on things and getting around, he seems to love the thrill of letting go (until he falls down lol).
He's a bit clingy at the moment, his 8th tooth is coming through so it's all cuddles, all the time. Who knows, one day I might be able to go to the toilet by myself without him having a meltdown. :D
He's onto lumpy foods and fingerfood snacks although he'd rather play with them than eat them. He fights sleep at every opportunity but other than that he's a wonderful little baby.. no wait, he's not really a baby anymore, is he? :(
But my husband and I love being parents.
It's great to read all of your posts and see that he's right on cue with other bubs his age. We've been too busy up until now to join a playgroup but we're looking forward to doing so, he is fascinated with other babies. We're just a bit worried as he's so strong, we don't want him to hurt other little ones, we'd be just mortified if he did!
Wktz - um, what's a dog with a hot spot? :o
LOL, in this case it's a big sook of a German Shepherd who's got an itch on his back, and then proceeded to chew the **** out of it until it all gets infected and turns into a big raw sore area  He does this quite frequently, especially in the humid weather, so we've become quite good at fixing them ourselves now (had to, he was costing us a fortune in vets bills :D ).
OnceAMereHumanNowAMum - Welcome! The more the merrier!.
Trish - thanks for the hugs over the choking, I needed them!. I'm so glad to hear that Abbey was ok, it's really scary isn't it. I've been watching Maddy like a hawk since but just now I put her on her change table and had to fish a huge wad of tissue out of her mouth, goodness knows where she found that. The other day we were driving and she made a funny noise, so I said 'are you ok back there darling', had a quick glance over my shoulder and she was looking out the window so all was good. A second later I had another quick look and she was slumped forward in her car seat with her head hanging down... well, you've never seen anyone pull the car over so fast and leap out in a panic - and do you know what she was doing?. Trying to reach her toes with her mouth without moving her foot!. She looked up at me (as the car comes to a screeching halt and her mouther jumps screaming out the door) as if to say 'what's your problem?'
I am almost over the flu, finally, but now Will (MY Will KDK...ha ha ha, I did a double take the first time I read one of your posts too!) has come down with it so he's home today and I have two kids to look after. Touch wood Madeline seems to be ok though, she had a pretty bad night with what appeared to be a sore throat and was up at 4am, but she's been playing quite happily most of the day so hopefully she's avoided it.
Caroline - that was a frightening story about the pram, you don't realise what they are capable of until they actually do it...and then you have to explain away the bruises!.
Em - you mentioned in one of your posts that you co-slept with Ariene during the worst of her sleep problems.. can you tell me the logistics of how you did this please?. I have never been able to manage it, first because I was too scared when Maddy was born (she was so tiny I was afraid I would squash her!) and since then I'm scared she will fall out of bed or be smothered in the doona. Plus I just can't get comfortable with her in the bed, she likes to snuggle up to me but I end up with a sore back and lying awake for hours!!. I'm so glad your sleep problems are sorted out now though (fingers crossed they stay that way), you are a hero for coping with what you did!!.
Hugs to everyone I've missed, I've got tears, so better go!

Ok well last night I wrote the hugest post ever....it may have even won an award for the longest  and when I submitted it, it didn't work. So I went to bed sooking!!
wktz funny stuff....lol.. well I'm sure it wasn't at the time but it is now!!! They certainly keep us on our toes hey.
Hi OAMHNAM! Welcome...
Now to catch up on the last couple of days....
Yay to Curtis Queenie, what a big boy! Its exciting when they start to walk. As much as I am dreading it ..lol.., it can make things a bit easier in the fact that they don't get so frustrated.
KDK I hope you are all feeling better! I will go into Cooper details in a minute....thanks for asking!
Tam I'm glad the catalogue was well received...now you know why I don't make much money. I certainly have a house full of books, toys etc etc.
What are PPP classes? I think I need to do something.
Em (ps) I hope all is ok over there whilst you are without a hubby. If you need a chat just pm me I am always up for it. :D
Scout great news about the meds...woo hoo
Em I loved the video, it cracked me up! How disinterested was Lachlan...lol he was just doing his own thing. Thats what Abbey is like, Cooper harasses her all the time and she just ignores him.
Hugs to you Carolyn about feeling left out! Try not to worry too much they seem to chop and change all the time.
Mel any news on Connor?? What is going on I wonder??:detective: Maybe he is super brainy and is just under stimulated.....or maybe he just thinks school sucks!
Lillasmummy thanks for the hugs....I have had a much better day due to a 2 hour hot stone massage...mmm...it was for my birthday on Monday. Dh even came home early, it would have been even better if I didn't have to come home and cook and clean for hours after. *sigh*
Sorry to any I have missed, and I hope that all of you who have bugs are getting better! mwa

Part 2-Super Cooper!!! (I don't want to do a long one again then have it not work)
Where do I start....he just isn't my beautiful little boy any more. He has started to hit Abbey, he takes her toys and throws them across the room. He never leaves her alone whether its good or bad, he just won't go and play with his own toys.
Don't get me wrong, he plays nicely with her as well but he just has moments of madness....often.
Now I know its my fault as I have always spent so much time with my kids and I think it has backfired a bit.
Tantrums, he is having them all of the time and this is where I am losing it. I have always been so calm and just diffuse the situation but at the moment I am getting angry and yelling, or just picking him up and shoving him in his room. I feel so bad but I think its better than me smacking him. Some days I want to! Grrrrr he is making me so angry.
I know I have to take a step back, breathe and go about it all calmly but at the moment I just can't seem to do it easily. Maybe because it has been going on for weeks....gee I don't know.:gloomy:
I think he is feeling a bit jealous but why all of a sudden? If anything Abbey is the one to be left out as she is happy to be off by herself just playing.
Yesterday Coop had a shocking morning, tantrum after tantrum. I just sat on the floor and cried..(he didn't see) After I put Abbey to bed we sat for a chat and had lunch together, and he was his old lovely self. When I went to get a face washer he spread his food all over himself, face arms etc and the table and chair. That was it I had had enough and just sent him to his room, I was so angry.:( Usually I would ask why he was doing this..........I'm just a bit over it.
He is an excellent talker, talks in full sentences. Maybe I just expect too much from him?? What do you all think? Any ideas, pointers, advice?? Help???
Sorry its so long....................
Trish I can't help sorry, I'm sure I have all this to look forward to - I just wanted to say :hugs: and  to you hon, hang in there, I'm sure it's just a stage Cooper is going through.
And don't feel bad about losing your temper, EVERYONE does at some stage....I certainly have been known to :o (and I bet we all feel guilty afterwards as well!!)

Oh Trish :hugs: I can't help cause I'm going through exactly the same thing. I have never yelled so much in my life, I have always been so patient and understanding, but being nice and resonable just isn't working with Noah right now. :hugs: Its just sooo frustrating :banghead:
Hugs to all those having a bit of a hard time atm. :hugs:
Queen, I'm not sure whether to congratulate or commiserate on Curty walking. That's quite an amazing boy you have there.
I've had a big bloody crash so decreasing the meds wasn't a great idea. The last couple of days have been cr@ppy to say the least.
Bugger, Saxon running amok.
MWAH to you all.

Hi all.
Just popping in to let you all know we are going well here. Everythings a bit crazy ATM. I have a babyshower here on Sunday and G's 5th bday the saturday after so I'm busy trying to paper mache some little pots for lolly bags (pots of gold chocolate coins - The parties on St. Pats day)
Carolyn - I heard about an airplane crash that had a mine worker from Perth on it in Africa on the news last night. Praying it has no connection to you:fingerscrossed:.
Sorry I'm not keeping up all. Life should settle down soon:laughing: I've been thinking that for 5 years!!!!!

:( Oh god no.......let us know its not you Carolyn!
wktz thanks for the kind words. I feel so guilty about getting angry and its nice to know that I am "normal" so to speak. I just have to learn to deal with it a bit better. Yes.....you will have all this to look forward to..bet you can't wait. lol
Em :hugs: to you, its bloody awful isn't it! At the moment I am just taking each day as it comes. Some are good and some are bad. I don't think its helping that Coop has started to drop some day sleeps here and there. God help me.........
Scout sorry to hear about your med crash, keep us posted as to how you are feeling.

Don't feel guilty about not getting on much, I usually go missing for a week or 2 then you can't get rid of me for a while (like now...lol)
Trish and Em I don't know what to do either about the behaviour stuff and to be honest I am so scared about Luca being a toddler. I could have babies forever except then they are toddlers..... Is that horrible?

Okay news from here - We had a photo shoot with a BHer (DangerKitty) she is so nice, and her little man is just divine! I am waiting to get a disc Click (http://www.behold.photosite.com/charli/) For anyone interested, click on slideshow! She wasn't a happy girl that day but still managed to get some gorgeous shots of her! I am so happy with the outcome!
We are still commando crawling here, she is getting quick and loving being able to get around!!!
For people following my dad's recovery things are going rather well (finally) he is without a cane but is still in a bit of pain, but nothing like he was!
Mel - LOVING the bamboo! I am looking forward to the Adeladie babies expo next weekend, BB has a stand and I am so taking C in her Pink Intensity!!!! Yay!!
Queen - Curtis is walking? That is truely amazing, what a clever little boy! Now you will have to baby proof at a whole new level! Good luck with that. Still going strong on the BF front so BIG hugs to you AGAIN!
Erin - What do you have planned for G's 5th?
Scout - Hope you are doing ok! :hugs:
OnceAMereHumanNowAMum - Welcome to MM06!
LM - Been a while since I just did that! haha
Pooks - Hope you are all enjoying having Mason home! It is hard when they are away! Makes you appreciate them all the more though!
Lambie - Is that Val Kilmer I see in your Av or Jim Morrison? We are still on the two teeth over here! I thought C would never get hers either! Love your profile!
HDD - I don't know Min but thats great that you got to catch up! I hope she comes back to here! It is hard to keep up, but a great bunch of mummies belong to this group so well worth it! Loved the video, they are gorgeous gorgeous boys! So clever standing in the bath!!!!
WKTZ - When I first started C on lumps we had about 2 days of power chucks from gagging. Very scary to see her eyes well up and her gasp for air for a long period of time! I have only just tried her on toast, and that resulted in gagging so I am rather scared to introduce new things! Today though we tried dried apricots (tiny pieces) as they are a good source of iron and she chewed away on them for ages! I would have killed for a codral last weekend! I took my first Panadol since before C was born i felt that ****! Ah the joys of BF!
Trish - Just wanted to send you some :hugs: Hope Cooper stops giving you such a hard time!
Carolyn - How scary about the pram incident!!!
Tam - C has dropped a BF in the last few weeks.
BB - Just wanted to say here (cause i know i always say hi in here too late :p) That i appreciate your friendship and support and late night chats so much! I am glad you enjoyed your package and that T liked her stuff!!!!
Billy - Hope I catch you again soon on MSN!!! Doesn't happen very often!!! Hope you are all well!
Hello to anyone I missed! Hope to be back in here sooner rather than later!
mum2charli - what gorgeous photo's, and what beautiful big blue eyes Charli has!!. I love your signature too, I must remember to add my puppies to mine when I get a chance :D
Just wondering, what does everyone do with their babies when they need to have a shower or hang out washing and so on??. I don't like to leave Madeline inside on her own (even though we have baby proofed and fenced off the lounge room) just in case she falls and hurts herself, so I've either been rushing madly to get everything done when (if :( ) she sleeps or dragging her high chair or pram outside and strapping her into that for as long as she will stand it  . If anyone has any better idea's I'd love to hear them though!!
OMG the pics of Charli are gorgeous!!!! I love 'em, you must be so happy. Glad the BBB is going well too.
Scout I hope you are ok too. Hey to everyone else, I am about to go out but hugs to y'all
Kirsty when I have a shower Luca usually sits in a bucket on the shower floor and has a shower too. If not I just have a quick one with the door open and put him in the hallway.
Ahhh Kirsty... Isn't it fun??? My hubby works away so I never have him here to watch her either- and she is sleeping less and less during the day too... If I am hanging out washing I usually bring her out to play on the grass, if I need to take a shower I try and coincide it with her bottle time and give it to her in her cot.
Rhianna is still in our room and she can see me in the ensuite from her cot- so it works...
Otherwise yes everything while she is asleep. Oh except vaccuming- she HATES it... I wear her in my Ergo for that one
Sorry I have been so MIA lately I am going to post again in a sec about our goings on here...
Scouty- :hugs: hun I hope you feel better soon
M2C- Sweetie I have seen the photos before- but again Charli is so GORGEOUS!!!! I love them :yelclap:
Ok I am going to be really slack and just say HI EVERYONE!!!! LOL I have missed too much hahaha
Luv yas xoxoxox
Ok here we go... Well we had a pretty bad week, and I wasn't going to post about it because I was so embarassed. :o
Rhianna was sick at the start of the week and it turns out she picked up pinworms/threadworms from one of our pets... :( They are all outside animals, so it must have just been a passing 'lick' or something I don't know... The Dr said that apparently kids get it all the time because they put they're fingers in their mouths so much. But I felt terrible. Like I was really dirty or something?? I honestly thought the Dr would take my baby away for being so careless. :crying:
But we were all dosed up (animals and all) and she is fine- no problems at all. I am pretty good now about it, but at first I was so upset!
And then DH tells me that his work is letting 40 people go next week. I am so scared that he will lose his job and we won't be able to keep our beautiful new house or put food on the table... He assures me that it is not going to be him, as they are basing it on sick days, attitude, and incident record- and he has had no sickies/incidents and he is a very dedicated worker.
However the possibility IS there and it is so scary...
So fingers crossed everyone ok?? LOL
Ok thats it... Nothing much else here...
Oh except Rhianna does 'kisses' now (open mouth eeewww LOL) and today she learnt how to put the balls in her Fisher Price dinosaur toy thingy... So proud :D
Oh Billy, I hope it all work sort with DH's job and all. And seriously don't stress about the worm thing, Connor a few months ago announced to me at the Target checkout that his 'bum was itchy again becasue the worms crawled back up it' ewwwww
PMSL Mel @ Connor  Kids eh??? :D
Thank you for the well wishes hun :hugs:

Billy don't feel embarrassed, thats just life! Coop has school sores at the moment on his bottom  and to make it even worse he has had them for a while! The stupid dr's that I seem to keep getting kept telling us it was eczema. So 3 dr's later we are on track.
Good luck with your hubby's job, it sounds like he is a model employee so you will be able to stay in your gorgeous house!
M2C the photos are absolutely gorgeous( I love the one of her sitting sideways holding onto a towel?) and great news about your dad!
Kirsty I do alot when they are asleep. But I often put her in her hop n pop if I'm in the shower. When I'm outside I just put her on the ground now or in the sand pit with Coop.

Hi May Mummies!
OnceAMereHumanNowAMum - Welcome to the group!
Well I have been in and out of bubhub for over a week and every time I go to post in here either my darling DS1 touches something he isn't supposed to and Ma or Pa is going mad on him or the computer freezes GRRR
Oh Trish :hugs: I can't help cause I'm going through exactly the same thing. I have never yelled so much in my life, I have always been so patient and understanding, but being nice and resonable just isn't working with Noah right now. Its just sooo frustrating
Trish & Em: I so sympathise with you..... I am thinking our boys must be all going through the same phase!!!! Only my poor little boy has three adults telling him what to do or what not to do (and none of these are daddy as he is never home!!!) and reacting first but thinking later......
Billy don't be embarassed honey!!!! There is no way anyone can call your house a dirty one! And neither are your pets! These things happen.... :fingerscrossed: Kev isn't on the cull list!! I am sure he is right though - they bnormally cut the people who are non performers first before they let the good ones go!
Mel - Did you work anything out with Connors school???
Well not too much has been happening here (with my may baby anyway!!)... Drew has now got the crawling bit down pat and is now all over the place as quick as a flash! but in the last two weeks he has just grown so much! He is now pulling himself up on everything! Here is a photo of him pulling himself up on the baby gate!

We are sure his says mum mum and last night we are all positive he said dada!!!
Anyway not much else to report.... I am feeling very sore and sorry for myself - a few weeks back i started kickboxing classes (am loving it!!) and this week i also included a few weight sessions at the gym.... now I ache from head to toe!!!!
:hugs: to you all!
Thank you Trish and Leisha :hugs:

Good on you for doing kickboxing hun- I bet you're having a blast!!

Hi All
CG - The plane crash was no where near us. The mining industry is small through and Greg knew they guy that got killed. I am never really comfortable when I get on a small plane in Africa. Unfortunately it is difficult to avoid when you live remotely.
Scout - I am sure there will be some good days and some bad days. Everything takes time I guess.
Still Dreaming - I have no advice on how to deal with Cooper, only :hugs:, and fear in the knowledge that i too will be facing someting similar very soon.
M2C - the sideshow is amazing, did you put it together yourself? Charli is beautiful and very expressive in the shots.
wktz - When I shower, Ryan showers with me. Otherwise for anything else he gets put in the baby bjorn or the backpack and carried with me. Its a great work out. I find it very difficult to get anything done.
Billy - good to hear from you. We do regular worming regardless of if we need it or not. It happens to most people dont be embarresed and thankyou for bringing it to the attention of the group  . It is a reminder. Redundancy in the work place are terrible to go through - even when you have been told you are safe, there is a lot of fear, uncertainty and guilt. I dont envy you or your DH this weeks, and you will be firmly in our thoughts.
Stellar - That's priceless ROFLMOA . When do children learn tact!
Chick 79 - We just gave DS his own keyboard to play with. It has made life a lot easier. Drew looks like such a little boy rather than a baby. Kickboxing! sounds like a great workout.
Hello to queenie, lilla'smum and everyone else I have missed.
Its pretty quiet here atm. I am supposed to be writing and essay before next weekend and it sucks!. I now have a local girl to look after Ryan for 2 hours in the afternoon so I can get my home work done. It is also nice to have 5 minutes to myself.
It is bucketing with rain today. Everything here turns to mud.
Ok no more procrastinating - homework here I come

 All of May mummies...
That's all I can say for now besides that we have been really sick in the last month. Lee started with a cold and then a gastro. DH got it as well a couple of days later. Then of course, I got sick too a week later. I wasn't able to care for Lee. I had my SIL looking after him for a day. I got really scared for my milk supply as I didn't feed him at all that day and I didn't express neither. But it didn't seem to have affected it. Anyway, to make things even worst, Lee started to have a big cough after that episode and he was really demanding. Let me tell you, there is no time to be sick when you are a mummy. My gastro lasted only 12hours compare to my DH 24hs. I think everything is over now. We can breathe and start going out again...
Are your babies putting alot of weight still? Lee in tha last 4 months has put on only 300grams. The MCH nurse wants me to put him on a multivitamin which I refuse to do cause I am not malnourishing Lee at all. He has 3 meals a day about 1 cup of food each time and 3 breastfeeds. Of course, he's been sick alot but I am a bit worried. Anyone else experiencing the same type of weight gain? The nurse want him to put 1kg until his next appointment which is in 2 months. He will then be about 9.5kg. Any thoughts, any one?
Talk to you soon ladies.

Hi Marie Jo. Sorry to hear that you have all been so sick!
re the weight gain......Abbey is only about 8.5kgs and Cooper who is 2 and a half is only pushing 12kgs. They are both healthy and eat heaps but they just have smaller frames. I have been lucky in the sense that the health nurses I have been seeing don't worry about it at all. They see how active they both are as well....every child is different. Going by the "charts" both of mine are underweight!
Does she want him to go on a multi vitamin for weight or because he has been getting sick a bit?
HoopDeeDoo
12-03-2007, 14:14
Marie Jo - If your instinct tells you not to worry with the multivitimans then don't do it. A couple of weeks back Lachlan was only 8.45 kgs, so it's fine. Some babies are just smaller. The more active they are the more they burn off
M2C - Those pics of Charli are gorgeous, she is such a pretty little thang
Mel that is so funny about Connor with the itchy bum worms, I guess thats what I'm to look forward to
Billy, gosh these things happen, but I'm sure I will feel the same way when the boys get thier first case of head lice or something :hugs:
Just don't go back M-J. i don;t think the MCHN does anything except stress mums out.

Mel - You got it  Where has my stationary bub gone, if anyone sees her can you tell her I want her back :p
Billy - Good on you for posting about Rhianna, It will help others to be more aware about it! Well done and great to hear she is doing well :hugs:
Thanks to everyone for your comments on Charli's photos! They were taken by a hubber (dangerkitty)
Carolyn - The photo slideshow was put together by the photographer, I think she did an amazing job!
Leisha - Gorgeous photo of Drew! Clever little man, he is getting so big! Haven't seen a photo of him for ages!
BB - What do you put on your sandwiches? Just vegimite as well? Charli is doing really well with finger food as of this week (finally weaned her off the puree lmao) so I want to try sandwiches! Sounds like fun!
Em - So sorry to hear about your husband! Just like Tam said, we are all here for you and thinking of you all, I hope everything is ok :hugs:
OK hi to everyone else, Charli is opening all the cupboards and trying to attack the dog's water bowl, better go rescue her! MWAH to anyone I missed!
Hi everyone, it's been a while since I've been able to get on so I have a bit of catching up to do...here goes:
Billy - I think all kids get worms at some stage don't they?. It's certainly nothing you've done wrong. I think we're just lucky Maddy hasn't picked them up because she's around the dogs all the time, but fortunately last time I got their worming tablets the vet mentioned that the whole house should be treated at the same time otherwise I would never have known. I still haven't ruled out her getting them sometime in the future however :D .
:hugs: to you re DH work situation, I hope it all works out well for you but from the sounds of things he is the type of employee they will want to keep!.
Mel, that's just too funny about Connor at the Target checkout. I can't wait until Madeline is able to talk - NOT!
Caroline - so glad to hear you're ok and the plane crash was nothing to do with you. What is your essay on that you are trying to write?. If you need any tips on how to procrastinate just ask me, I'm the queen of procrastination!!.
Marie-Jo - nice to speak to you again!. Sorry to hear you've been sick, we've been hit with it too and it's not much fun. I agree with you about the multivitamins, and I'm actually quite glad to hear you say Lee is not putting on much weight (and Abbey too Trish) because Maddy is exactly the same and I was getting a little concerned too. She's perfectly healthy and eats really well but just hasn't been putting on the weight (possibly because she never stops moving when she's awake LOL). She wouldn't even be 8.5kgs yet and she sat at 7.8 kgs for ages... I know, because we were monitoring it waiting for her to hit the magic 8 kilo mark so we could turn the car seat around!!. I say as long as they are healthy and happy, keep doing exactly what you are doing!. Trish is right, babies are all different shapes and sizes - we probably just have lean ones
Em, so sorry to hear about your husbands diagnosis, hope you are holding up ok. Type 1 means insulin injections doesn't it?. I hope you are getting all the information and support you need.
Scout - just wanted to say I'm thinking of you, hope you are going ok and have sorted out the meds to your satisfaction.
Well not much going on around here, you're absolutely right Mel and M2C about being busy!. I'm not sure with what exactly though, because I don't seem to be getting much done!. We are STILL sick with this blasted cold, it's been nearly two weeks for me now. It started to get a little better and then came back with a vengeance. DH is still snuffling all over the place as well. Maddy doesn't seem to be too bad thank goodness, although she has started coughing a bit today. I have a follow up appointment with the doctor this afternoon to make sure she doesn't have an ear infection and to find out if she can go swimming tomorrow. I'm getting really cranky with being sick though, I had to cancel a meeting with a good friend because I didnt want to pass it on to her one month old baby (that I haven't met yet!) and good friends of ours also had a baby on the weekend and we are having to stay away from them as well. Not happy!
I had to drop DH off at a colleagues house this morning and I just KNEW Maddy would fall asleep in the car....naturally she did, and now that little nap has kept her going all morning and she is refusing to sleep although she is tired and whingy. I need to get out to the shops but I refuse to go back into the car until she's had a proper sleep in her cot
Hello to all the other May mummies!
Hi ladies, my name is Fern and we have Bailey who was born on the 24th may:) look forward to sharing the ups and downs of our little ones

Hi Fern & a Big Welcome to our ever growing MM06 group ....
I'm Tam and have a 6.5 y/o DD Tayla & 10 month old DS Ethan (actually we've spoken before on another site back when we were PG and our boys were first born ;) not that I get a chance to get on there much, a lot like here lately!)
Just also wanted to add a me, me post too !!!
We had a huge day in development today ... some good some shockingly scary!
* I found Ethan has now cut his 5th toothy-peg (certainly explains the ratty-ness of him the past week!)
* He took a huge 2 steps unaided ... and now won't do it again LOL
* He has discovered how he can climb up on Tayla's little chairs VIDEO (http://s139.photobucket.com/albums/q294/BubbleCrazy/?action=view¤t=100_5288.flv)
*And he's very happy to play alone ... however, based on THIS (http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q294/BubbleCrazy/100_5285.jpg) , I wish he didn't! (He got on there himself!!!)
I can't believe this all happened today!!!
Also had some great news from a good friend yesterday - she's pregnant with her first and due 17th October and she was very lucky to get her :bfp: first month trying!!! My other friend, some may recall pg with her 3rd, who had to have an amnio as her NT scan came back with a 1/69 risk of her bub having downs syndrome has had it confirmed her bub is perfectly healthy & she's expecting another little boy ... so it's good news all round here!

Great news Tam about your 2 friends! :smiliedance:
Wow Ethan has had a busy day, how scary! They are growing way too fast....sounds like he's not too far away from walking either.
Oh and I Luv you too........mwah
wktz bummer to hear that you guys are still sick!
I hope that Maddy had a sleep for you, you are much better than me-I still take my kids out when they are tired and grouchy. Of course it always backfires and I wonder why I bothered!
Welcome Fern and Bailey!
Abbey has really been talking all day today....what a little yabberer she is (I really don't know where she gets that from...lol) As well as mum and dad she now says yum yum, nana (as in banana) and poo! She is doing alot of finger pointing at things now.....so so cute.
Ah Trish, I'm just lazy - I don't want to deal with the repercussions of an overtired, overstimulated child :D
Tam - Maddy has the same bus, I'm not going to let her see this photo in case she gets any ideas  . How clever is Ethan!!. It probably won't be long until he's walking. Great news about your friends too.
Billy - can I ask what symptoms Rhianna had with the worms?. As I mentioned yesterday, I'm sure we're going to have the same thing at some stage, so it would be nice to know what to look out for :)
Fern and Bailey - welcome!.
Well Maddy has a HUGE bruise on the side of her face...we think she fell over in her cot, but we only figured it out later on. She woke up howling yesterday morning at 4.30am but it was dark so we couldnt see anything and DH got her back to sleep (only for half an hour of course, but still better than being up at 4.30!). Later on I was giving her breakfast and noticed this massive purple swelling coming up and the only thing we can think of is that she banged it in her cot earlier on. Of course we now feel so guilty for not noticing earlier, poor thing was probably really hurting and we didn't know :o

*** Warning, Warning: Bad Mother Alert ***
OK, I'm going to start with a little me me me. I'm such a bad mother. On Tuesday, I picked Will up from childcare, came home, walked straight to the kitchen and... dropped him on the tiled floor.
I have never felt so bad in my life. He started screaming straight away, then went all floppy in my arms and pale. Luckily our famliy doctor is just down on the next corner. I took him down there, running the whole way. He brightened up in the surgery and even cracked a few smiles for the doctor. The doctor gave him the once over, said he was 'perfect' and ordered me to go home and have a scotch. If only I drank!!!
I've been feeling so bad about it ever since. I went to work on Wednesday and was telling my boss about it. He made me feel slightly better by telling me that he fell over with his little girl a couple of weeks ago. He landed on top of her, in a push-up position, with one hand in a fresh dog poo, which he then had to use to comfort her. Poor man. I laughed so hard I nearly wet my pants. Not a good look at work.
Tam: Fantastic photos of Ethan. He's so clever!!
Em (Pookie): You guys just cant take a trick at the moment. :fingerscrossed: hubby's health picks up soon and you guys get a break. You deserve it.
wktz: I'm with you on the not sleeping in cars business. Will seems to think that if he naps for five or 10 minutes in the car, that's it. No more sleeps. Today, he had two sleeps - one for 30 minutes, and one for 20. Needless to say, he spent the rest of his time grizzling. Lucky for him I still have mummy guilt and pandered to his every need. ;) Oh, and thanks for filling me in on the hot spot!!
Trish: You could never scare me away. Rest assured that even though I don't post that often (I'm not even at 100 yet!!) I always have time for a quick daily read.
Hi Fern and Bailey!! I'm Mardi, and I have Will who was born on the 26th. He's usually wonderful, though today he carried on like a child possessed. Did notice his sixth tooth finally popped through this afternoon, so hoping that had something to do with it...
Scout: How are you going love? Take care of yourself and do whatever you need to do to make yourself feel better.
OK, I better go, but just a curiosity question for those mums who co-sleep: How do you do it??? We went away for the weekend and Will decided against sleeping in the portacot. He slept with us for three nights. He was the only one who slept!!! Is there a special knack that I don't know about?

I write to my nan and she has told me i should publish my work, but i dont know how to go about it so for now am sticking with maybe the idea of this and my 7 year old daughter who is homeschooled and would love to and read to the elderly so maybe she could read a few of mine. sorry just thinking by type .:fingerscrossed:

KDK - what a terribly scary thing to happen :hugs: to you ... and you are NOT a bad mummy - these things happen sometimes. Just shows too that our little ones are quite resiliant - glad everything's ok, though! Had to laugh at the bosses story also!!!
wktz - :hugs: for you all too. Don't feel bad either - at that time of the morning/night everyone usually tries to get their bubs back off to sleep as quickly as they can, without much fuss. Gosh, Ethan has heaps of bumps and bruises already and he's only just really on the move so to speak ... Hope you're all feeling better.
stilldreaming - isn't it cute when they jabber away ... I often wonder what they're actually thinking as they go along with their day
Well, it looks like Ethan has decided he likes this walking business ... this arvo he took 6 or 7 steps around 5 or 6 times with Tayla & myself encouraging him along. You could tell he was so proud of himself - all giggly and laughing (so much in fact we made him stop as he was falling all over the place!) - it was absolutely gorgeous! It seems as though I'm about to wave goodbye to my baby and welcome a toddler into our home ... I'm still not sure if that's good or bad though

your not a bad mother for dropping him when i had my first born my hubby and i worked down the road from where we worked so we went home at lunchtmes and the routine went like this car seat into the pram (very cool pram special design back then) then skye in her car seat belted in, walk home skye have play time on the floor while we eat lunch then skye back into her straps in her car seat by me everytime, this time the phone rang i went to answer it and spent maybe 10 mins on the phone and then we went on our journey back to work, we got 10 mins down the road and crossed the road and as we did this car came flying down the road so we scampered out of the road up the curb and as we did that skye slid out of the pram and hit the road, she started crying and we ran all the way to work crying thewhole way told my boss and took her straight to the drs luckily also 5 mins away she was all fine too, All this happened because we changed the routine my hubby thought i had strapped her and i thought he did it and we were in a rush because th ephone call had made us late back to work, the worst part was this was in london and the house was a flat t the top of 6 flights of stairs, what a miracle we had that day, skye was only 8 weeks old at the time and i was 18, whoa seems so long ago....
A close friend of ours recently had their fourth child and being very tired went and lay down for a 5 minute break and woke up to her 3 year old daughter carrying her 6 week old baby towards her like a dolly saying mama baby crying, she had never been so scared in all her life she was pretty shook up for some time.
a friend of my mums left her 2 week old baby in a shop years ago she had apparently forgotten she had him and left him there got home and realised she had all her shopping and no baby.
a friend of a friend had there 8 month old on her lap while they were out 4 wheel driving and the bub fell out of the window when they hit a bump and unfortunatly there was nothing they could do for him
i hope this also makes you feel better mistakes are made, accidents happen, most people just do not have the bravery to stand up and say that something like this has happened to them, and for that you should feel proud.
Hi Mardi, how scary for you, but that DOESN'T mean you are a bad mother at all. I have almost dropped Maddy like that so many times it's not funny, especially when I'm really tired or she's really wriggly
Tam it sounds like Ethan is going great guns with this walking business!. We are nowhere near that point I don't think, Maddy will walk along holding onto things but if she wants to go any great distance she still drops down and crawls. She's let go a couple of times and stood on her own, but it's usually because she's grabbed toys with both hands and forgotten to hold on - as soon as she remembers she falls over :D
I would also love to know how anyone manages to co sleep, we have the same problem as you Mardi, if Maddy comes into bed with us she is the only one who gets any sleep!!.

We don't co-sleep sorry, girls, so I'm no help at all. In fact, we (DP & I) hate it - whenever Tayla sneaks into our bed at night it's usually a race between the two of us to her bed, as it's easier than one of us trying to carry her back there. Thankfully it doesn't happen all that often!!!
Hi Everyone
I haven't really read too much over the last few days - sorry, lots going on.
KDK - you are not a bad mum. I let Saxon fall off a table when he was about 4 months old - I forgot he was there and continued arguing with my mother on the phone in another room. Saxon was completely fine and I was distraught for days (I should have asked for a valium prescription when we left the hospital).
Thanks for everyone's kind words about feeling better. I certainly do now - I'm not one to stuff around with my meds and go up and down as I want, so I got straight onto my shrink and we sorted it out.
Saxon has had hideous gastro today. I took him to the doctor after he had a big vomiting episode and passed out on me! Thankfully he has taken some fluids this afternoon so he has probably avoided a trip to hospital. Worst part is that I'll probably have it tomorrow.
I'm going to run - hope everyone is well and I hope to catch up on posts soon. :hugs:

I pop my head in and there's another trillion pages... I will read the parts I've missed and do a proper post a bit later.
Just wanted to address the co-sleeping thing. All I can think of is that:
a) all kids are different, I guess some prefer their own space and are happier sleeping alone, so putting them in with parents just unsettles them;
b) I've co-slept with Curtis from the beginning, he was in a bassinett right next to my bed for the first couple of weeks but only for the beginning of the night, from midnight onwards he was in the crook of my arm. And I think it's just all he knows, so it works brilliantly for us.
KDK: NOT BAD MUMMY!! NOT BAD MUMMY!!! NOT BAD MUMMY!!!!!! :hugs: :hugs: It bloody sux when these things happen, but these things do just happen every now and then. :hugs:
Oh, I forgot to add (although no one will probably thank me for this).....I remember reading the other day that someone was suffering with a lovely worm infestation in their family.....
We went on a family holiday a few weeks ago where I had to share a shower with a number of others and I now have tinea and a ringworm. I'm am so revoltingly grossed out. :barf: The Dr said but it's only fungus but I don't care I feel hideous!
I can't remember who it was who had the problem but we all suffer with these insidious things every now and then.

Thank you everyone for making me feel better. And to you, Scout, for making me laugh. Bloody ringworm!! Hope Saxon feels better soon. If it makes you feel any better, Will had it a couple of weeks ago and bounced back way more quickly than I expected.
And yes, DP and I ended up with it ourselves...
well I had school sores a few months back if that makes you feel any better Scout, ewwww. Connor didn't even have them either. Plus I have a wart of my foot and I have been walking around for a week with a clove of garlic gaffa taped onto it and it still wont go away. :o I sure do stink though...
KDK- hope you are over your scare. I smashed Luca's head on the car door the other day, opps poor bubba.
As for co-slepeing well Luca starts in his cot and then comes in with us about 1am, we just goes in the middle and we don't even notice he is there. He even stays asleep when Mat gets up for work at 5am and bangs and crashes around.
What else is news?

Mel- wow, that's a great example of co-sleeping! That's fantastic!!!
To the people asking about the 'knack' to it... my opinion is similar to that of Queenie's, except that I also think it gets a tad harder as they get older, unless they have always co-slept and it is all they know.. when I put Ariene in with me/us these days, it doesn't work at all. Back to cot = sound asleep. But co-sleeping was the only way I survived for ages. It only worked though because Mace was in the spare room that whole time :o
Thinking of you this week darling Billy! :hugs:
Tam, that was so sweet of you to think of us. And well done Ethan!! What a champ!!!
Mace was away for work last week (or the one before?) and became very very sick. Went to the GP who sent him straight to hospital. He is Type 1 Diabetic (sudden onset) and he has ketones in his blood, which are pretty toxic things that people with Type 1 can have if they are not doing well or were undiagnosed for a while. Indicator of kidney damage etc. Still have to learn about all that stuff, that's about all I know about that side of things.
Anyway, he has to inject himself 4 times a day and test his blood glucose levels every 4 hours. Everything has changed.. no more lazy 'snack nights', we have to have set meals at set times... balanced with the right amount of exercise (not too much, not too little...) and it seems like his life is ruled by the need to get numbers between 4 and 8 come up on the screen of his glucometer. He will never again be able to have a beer on a hot day, have a glass of wine on a special occasion. His form of Type 1 is very strict, it seems- there is no room for treats unless he wants to risk his eyesight, lower limbs, kidneys, etc. He can't just take more insulin to make up for a bit of chocolate, or the wrong type of bread, for example. It's an emotional time... but life goes on. It's not like he has cancer or anything horiffic like that. We are trying not to scare ourselves with all this.
:hugs: to everyone dealing with frustrated, angry, destructive and tiring toddlers!! I can totally sympathise
:hugs: :hugs: to you Em, thank God they picked up what was wrong with Mace straight away and no permanent damage has been done. You sound as though you are coping remarkably well and staying positive - you're amazing.
I had gestational diabetes, not the same thing at all I know, but that came as a big shock for us because we don't have diabetes anywhere in our family so it was all completely new. I can totally relate to life suddenly revolving around mealtimes, exercise and glucose tests though!!. People assured me that it would get easier and just become a normal part of my routine and I must say it was starting to, so hopefully it will be the same for you guys very soon. There are lots of recipe books around too for diabetic cooking so you don't need to prepare special meals at all, the whole family can just eat the same thing.
I think you are right Queenie and PS about co-sleeping having to be something they are used to. I can put Maddy in bed with us and if she is tired she will go to sleep, but only as long as she can breastfeed. I end up twisted all over the place trying to stay in position for her to feed and it's impossible for me to go back to sleep. Eventually my back gives out and I have to move, and as soon as I remove the breast from her mouth she wakes up, so that's the end of that!!
Mel - does garlic actually work for removing warts?. DH has one he's been trying to get rid of for ages... wonder how well the garlic would go down in his new job though.. :D
Scout - hello, very glad to hear that you are feeling better (despite the tinea and ringworm!), not so happy to hear about Saxons gastro!!. :fingerscrossed: you don't come down with it as well.

Hi girls,
Hmmm yes my toddler is driving me a bit loopy.
I have been a bad mummy today - warning this will be a long vent
I thought Scott was watching the boys, since they were playing in and around the room he was in  Anyway next thing I hear Scott yelling "Mummy you have to see this" I go into noah's room and he's on the bed with his hair COVERED in hair wax. he had put the WHOLE jar in his hair and he's saying "mummy hair mummy hair" :D
Well it was funny, we all had a good laugh, until I realised he had got it all through his bed all over his nice clean sheets, doona, and some of his toys.
Whatever, I put him in the bathroom, assuming my husband will try and clean him while I remake the bed.
Next thing I hear Noah giggling and laughing - I take a look and he's jumping on my bed, getting hair wax all through my bed. While Scott is standing infront of the mirror doing his own hair WTF?? Grrrrr.
So I have a yell, and complain and Scott turns on the shower and I go back to making noah's bed. Next thing I hear "Come on noah you have to have a shower" I go into the bathroom, and Scott's trying to put noah in the shower, so I pick Noah up and put him in. Next thing Noah starts screaming because the waters too hot and he's getting scoulded by the water . I take this slipperly wet covered in wax, tantrum throwing toddler out of the shower while DH stands there shouting about how I should have checked the tempreture and look what you've done :banghead:
So I run Noah a bath and put him in, wash his hair, I have to ask Scott to come and get Lachy because he was sliding all over the place trying to get into the bath Grrrrr
Anyway he is a 'clean' as he can get in a bath full of hair wax, and I leave him with Scott watching to go and finish the bed.
Next thing I hear "stop drinking the water Noah etc etc" WTF?? I had to go back to the bathroom to get him out of the bath aswell. Grrrrrrr
I'm so mad I just took him out wrapped him in the towel swearing my head off while I'm doing it. I felt like I was going to explode.
I just hate how easily i lose my cool these days and Scott just doesn't help me when it counts.
Anyway we were supposed to go out as a family today, but whenever I cry I don't go into public because my whole face goes red and it's embarrassing. So i stayed home with Lachy who is now sleeping, and Scott went out with Noah.
So there is my story of being a bad mummy for the day :gloomy:

Em ... :hugs: :hugs: - what a horrible morning for you. Hope it's better this arvo, hun. And, you are NOT a bad mummy. None of us are - we're human.
I've got the same type of DP atm. I'm sure it's just men in general - they just don't get it on a whole . I really think there's something in the air atm. Full moon maybe? I dunno, I'm just so irritable and I get PMS soooo bad these days.
I too have good and bad days, and I'm turning into quite a real piece of work with the grumpiness etc - more than usual (wonder where Tayla gets it from!).
(Here's my rant ... just skip over it - I'm just letting it out to make me feel better!)
Like yesterday when I had to take Ethan out with me for 3 hours strapped in a pram whilst I was 'working' as it was too hard for Jamie to watch him at home!!! Of course, I get home and have to clean up after him & Tayla ... lunch leftovers & dishes still on the table, cr@p everywhere etc etc and then wants to show me the 50 stack CD he scored from our neighbours for nothing and how he'd filled his new huge toolbox etc AND then he gets pooey at me this morning as I had a really lazy night last night and didn't tidy up completely as he was out! This is after I'm in the shower washing my hair when I can hear Ethan crying thru the monitor that is right next to the bed where DP is asleep. I get out, dried, dressed etc and I am the one that ends up getting Ethan up, changing him etc and then I'm a grumpy @rse because he didn't hear Ethan :banghead:. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Vent over!

Well, after reading the last two posts, I have come to a very frightening realisation:
My DP has two other families.
How else could you explain the fact that he sounds just like your husband, Em, and yours too, BC???
All this time I thought he was just lazing around when, really, he's exhausted from all his efforts travelling across the country doing, well, not much at all.
Surely it's too much of a coincidence???

KDK - ...
Helloooooo girlies! Wow I feel like I have ben MIA forever lol :p
Ok Kev did NOT lose his job!!!!! :smiliedance: Oh such a relief... Thank you for all of your thoughts on that one girls. Still feel kinda bad for the 40 people who did though....
Worms (ewww lol) caused Rhianna to get a REALLY bad nappy rash which was very itchy for her, made her have some pretty disgusting explosive poo's... but the real clincher was all the worms in her poop  I know right? YUK... They just look like little tiny pieces of black string I guess... *shudders* ICK!
Oh hugs to you girls with unhelpful hubby's..... Mine is pretty good but he certainly does have his moments :hugs:
KDK- I hope you are feeling better after your scare (((HUGS))) you are NOT a bad mummy though!!! You can't be because then what would that make me???? LOL I have come to realise though that Rhianna is generally over things an awful lot faster than me hehehe
Em- sweetie thinking of you now with the tough time you guys are having ((((HUGS)))) Good on you for being so strong about it... A good chance to get into some great eating habits (if you are not already). My great grandmother had Diabetes too, and apparently I could be in line for it aswell- I have often thought about trying to live my life as if I did have it to see how I would go.
I have been shocking with my eating habits lately. Maybe I should start one of those journal things on here....
Scout- (((HUGS)))) (I wish I could use more emoticons lol) I hope you and Sax are feeling better... and obviously it was us that had the worm infestation lol...
Well goodness I can't even think what has been happening here! It has been pretty quiet really. Have to say it is a bit sad I am inside today as it is an absolutely STUNNING day outside today... sunny yet not so humid as it is normally- can feel a change coming on... should really take a pic...
Ok went and took a pic of our pool area lol
Down past the house (http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j297/billyjp/DSCF2142.jpg)
Too bright for blue sky! (http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j297/billyjp/DSCF2140.jpg)

Gorgeous house piccies, Billy! I can't believe how much of a little girl Rhianna is becoming now - she is looking so cute! There is sooo much cute stuff/nappies you can get for girls *cluck, cluck*
happybirthday Tahlia - hope you had a great day!!!
To keep the orders coming in for Em, I'll have to get some front & back nappy shots of Ethan's share of the first release LOL ... (we might have to join the end of the queue for some more!)

:hugs: :hugs: to you Em, thank God they picked up what was wrong with Mace straight away and no permanent damage has been done. You sound as though you are coping remarkably well and staying positive - you're amazing.
Thanks so much :hugs: . And I really hope that should you go for another bub one day that you have to deal with Gestational Diabete's again! An experience you don't want to relive for sure.
Billy... it'd be a close age gap, but many have had them much closer!! Your post just read to me like: Cluck, cluck, cluck!! And how sweet that Kev is ready to go again. And *wipes brow* that he didn't end up on the chopping block with work! I understand how stressfull it would have been.. you start to really love the place you live in but then feel like you have to prepare yourself to leave...or at least not let yourself get too attached... (DH has this strange compulsive urge to move every year or so and I really have to be firm in my need for stability now that we have a family!).
Oh and GORGEOUS house pics!! And I'm going to get in line for one of those nappies methinks!
All who think Em should start getting her materials in bulk and selling her nappies stick ya hand in the air!! (then join the que!!)
We it's been a shocker of a day with the kids... but it ended nice: Both in bed at 6.30 :D And the issues we had today were nowhere near those you had, Emma, with Scott and the boys. I just sighed as I read your post, out of complete, utter, TOTAL understanding. Big, BIG hug to you, mate.
BB- Happy birthday to Tahlia!!! 9 year old birthdays are SO much fun!! I hope she's had an awesome day!! I think about you often atm, BB. Is your step-son still living with you? Has the situation improved? How is life generally, hun?
The district nurse has been coming each night to help Mace with his needles, but tomorrow's the last night because he is now stable and doing well!
I'm really struggling with the evenings and getting everything done with the kids and getting tea for Mace and I at the right time for his injection. I'm going to have to start Ariene's bath and then my shower with Ronan at about 4.30pm I think!
Oh Em (HDH) that is also my DP, he jsut stands there and stares into space while kids are yelling, things are breaking etc. Drives you nuts. Have a talk to him when you are calm and tell him you NEED help.
Other Em, my best friend has type 1 diabetes and she had all the dietary restrictions etc that come with it until last year she had the insulin pump implanted. Since then she has just been like 'normal'. I guess thats somehting to look at later on. I didn;t know you could just get diabetes when you were an adult?
Hey I was on the channel 10 news tonight for Reuasble Nappy Week. Check it out if you watch the late news, I'll sign autographs later :)
I am so upset I missed it earlier Mel!!!!! :crying:
Don't worry Bil it was one about one second anyway!

Hi all, well im absolutely exhausted!
Thank you for all the birthday wishes today.
Lovely of you to remember M2C
Tahlia was born at 9.47pm on a Thursday night. My sister kept telling me to hurry up because the footy show was about to start
Anyways today we did the harbour Bridge walk which was fantastic. Then we had an hour cruise of the harbour. Great day but my feet are killing. i think i walked 15kms
I have been missing for a while. still come back and read but not a lot going on. Apart from our sleeping issues being really bad but i need to stop whinging about it and just deal with it until its over.
BB- Happy birthday to Tahlia!!! 9 year old birthdays are SO much fun!! I hope she's had an awesome day!! I think about you often atm, BB. Is your step-son still living with you? Has the situation improved? How is life generally, hun?
Thanks hun thats really lovely of you :hugs: Sorry to hear about your DH. What a huge adjustment for your family. My grandmother and 4 uncles have diabetes and i know how restricting and scary it can be. Am thinking of you.
Things at home are ok. SS is still with us. Things go good for a while then back to 'normal'. Have a lot of stuff going on at the moment and i find if i come on here i just tend to complain so thats why i have been staying away. Such is life. and here i am complaining about complaining.
Thinking of you all. Hope all the gorgeous bubbas are well. :hugs:

Hi All,
Co- Sleeping, Ryan started sleeping with us from about 4 months, it started by me being too lazy to put him back to bed after feeding him, then he just seamed to spend more time in our bed. It has its disadvantages, he has gone from one feed a night to what feels like 10! We have put his matress on the floor next to the next to start to encourage him to sleep on his own.
It's funny that you guys are all getting fun stuff in Australia, worms, tinea, we get really paranoid here especially when some people go to pick DS and hold him and play with him (Especially the kids in the village!). At least you know that the majority of people around you will get treatment for this things. I will check with the medical center onsite to make sure that we have worming tablets available.
Pookie - I dont know want to say about your DH except for :hugs: I can only imagine that it is a little scary and very disruptive to go through something like that. I hope that everything settles down quickly for you both.
HDD - hair wax, thats funny, souns like Noah had fun. I agree with you about partners no being there when it counts, but I will get to my vent shortly.
BC - I thin k it must be a stage men are going through.
[B]illy - thats great news about your DP. I love the photos. Ryan was busy admiring and waving to your future supermodel.
HDD - you are so clever
BB the bridge walk and the cruise would have been lovely.
Hello to everyone else.

As I said ealier in the week I had an essay due yesterday for uni.
I have not yet managed to successful combine looking after a child that is getting into everything and writing something intellegent at the same time. *Blushes embarressed*
This week I have been relying on DH to help me when he comes home. However He has left it for me to bath and dress the baby and then he has sprawlled out on the bed (you have to sit on the bed to use the computer due to lack of space) and generally been in the way.
Saturday afternoon, DH has the afternoon off, he was looking after DS in the lounge. I went in to check on him and DS WAS MISSING and DH was alseep on the couch. A girl looks after DS for a hour in the afternoon for me. She came into the house and picked up Ryan and took him for a walk without DS even knowing he was gone!!! I let DH stress for a few minutes before I confirmed where DS was.
Yesterday - My birthday, no present for the second year running (This will cost him in the long run, I am going to by myself a 1 carot diamond, sufficient Tanzanite for earings and a pendant and a gold and platinum chain  )
DH was supposed to have DS for the afternoon/evening. DH has to do some interviews which take longer than anticipated. Then just before he DH returns home DS falls alseep. Then when DS gets home, he decides to leave DS at home and not take him into the village as promised *steam now excaping from ears* DS wakes as soon as DH leaves and my four hour window to work on my assignment in peace evaporated.
And then DS was dissapointed becuase I didn't get my assignment finished while he was out in the village. (I think he forgets that we live on a remote minesite in the middle of the african jungle with no family support and very few other people around us)
He was grumpy that I would have to continue to work on it during the evening while he was at home, rather than relax together for my birthday *more steam excaping*
Assignment completed at 12:15am.
Dummy Spit Over
Ohh Carolyn sorry but I had to laugh at your description of those incidents. That is awful about your birthday and no present. happybirthday from me anyway for yesterday.
Luca spends all day crawling around trying to hold onto my leg, if he can;t see me he cries' mumma, mumma'. It is cute, but sheesh, I need to be able to leave a room without tears sometimes. C
Connor was never like this.
BTW the lady came to do the assesement on him at school. Tried to find out what happened during it without much luck. He said' there was a lady visiting some kids and I went to her room and she had her eyes closed and was sleeping and I went up and said 'BOO' in her ear and she screamed.' OMG what sort of report am I going to get?

Stella,
The assessment sounds odd, when do you get the results back?
I wonder if she was sleeping on the job and got sprung!
Cheers
PS thankyou stella for the birthday wishes. Now the husband is threatening to trade me in for a younger model !

happybirthday Carolyn!!!
:hugs: as well for your day too. It must be the week for it . Glad you got the assignment done though.
I have to say though, it does make me feel a little better that I'm not the only one to miss out on Birthday presents - as bad as that sounds. Ethan's birthday is on Mother's Day this year, and my birthday is the Sunday following ... wonder how many times I'll luck out as I can't remember receiving anything for the past few years??? I did however buy myself a new purse for MD last year, that Tayla brought in the day after E was born
Mel - are they having a meeting with you once they get the report together - I'm assuming so? (((HUGS))) to you too. Has he been any better lately?

Mel: I have everything crossed that you get a good, thorough report and that everything is all good- :hugs:
Other Em, my best friend has type 1 diabetes and she had all the dietary restrictions etc that come with it until last year she had the insulin pump implanted. Since then she has just been like 'normal'. I guess thats something to look at later on. I didn;t know you could just get diabetes when you were an adult?
I was also thinking it was strange to get Type 1 as an adult, but apparently it is not uncommon to get it at any age. Today went well, he is injecting like a pro and trying to work out how he can make and eat pizza without having probs afterwards. Oh how he misses pizza (and it's been a whole week without it! ) Googling for diabetic pizza ideas just before lead us to tons of information on those insulin pumps. Intersting! (and a little disturbing... though well worth it considering Type 1 is there for life!)
Caroline- Ugh. :banghead: I feel your frustration!! :hugs: Thanks so much for the kind words and hugs!
HAPPY BIRTDHAY hun!!
BB- Please, please, never feel bad for complaining!! It's what stops me from feeling bad about all the complaining I do :-). Really- this is our 'safe' place to share how things are going for us and no-one is going to look down on you, ever. Anyway, I really hope that things are resolved for good (read: SS suddenly discovers alternative accommodation and decides on own to move out) and feel free to pm me anytime for a chat!

Oh and I meant to say that now it's my turn for cranky, whingy, sooky toddler issues. (please feel free to skip this OT, non- may- baby post if you so desire).
Ok. Everything he says is a high pitched "myyyyyyy toy, Miiiiine!!!!!" and it just goes on and on and on... About everything. I was even cleaning up the dinner he threw on the floor  and the rice that stuck to my wrist as I stood up started a full-scale "That's MY tea, miiiiine" tantrum that just went beserk. He won't let Ariene sleep because he bangs on the hall door. One minute they are playing sweetly together and the next he is shouting in her ear to startle her :( Obviously this is all is masking some other issue going on with him at the moment but I can't figure out what. Constantly wanting milk in a bottle, shouting at us... And omg I nearly forgot, TONIGHT HE SLAPPED ME ACROSS THE FACE. I took a deep breath and said to him 'Don't you EVER hit your mum! Don't EVER hit ANYBODY' then I steped back and said 'daddy will make your bottle up, you can go to bed' and I walked out and left him with Mace. I have not been that angry in a long time...
Phew... that feels better! :o
