TARYN - love the pics AD - So confusing, hopefully you will get the phone call with the date soon. SHEZI - I think Chloe is now at the top of the list but so hard to talk about with DH when he doesnt know its a girl. So far you guys are still the only ones who know its a girl. So many of our friends have tried to catch me out but I have somehow got this far without slipping once! The bets are on and so far most people are predicting boy. I just hope my DH isnt disappointed that he is not going to get the boy I know he is secretly hoping for.

well im hoping he will. he did an internal when i was preg with D at 38weeks coz i was getting heaps of bh so we wanted to see if it was doing anything. im confused though coz wouldnt an internal be the same as a s&s?? i was fully effaced and 2cms at 38weeks with D then 3cm at 39weeks.

annsam
20-02-2007, 03:36 PM
no, they play around and irritate a bit more. Not much different though.

I dont have my first internal until 40 weeks (I'll be 40 +5) which is when I'll ask him to do a S&S. By this time with my last ob I'd had more than I could count! LOL.

I'm not sure shezi, I've only ever had the S & S at 40 weeks with DS but no other internals. Hmm wonder if it will bring things on for you. Wow 9 days, gosh its going fast, I have 12 days left!! I'm going to start eating curries this week :D I dont know if I'll be up for sex though!! DH was disappointed when I said I'm not using that as an induction method this time!! he said but it worked last time....eventually  yeah 2 weeks later of having sex every night!! this time I dont have the energy and a swollen V, it would not be fun. we havent even been doing perinael (sp??) massage. I have been taking my resberry leaf tablets (when I remember though!!)

Anyway better get organised for dinner at my mums.

Yep totally annoying regarding info/dates.. especially after waiting an hour, then getting almost home and being stuck in traffic, for another friggen hour, fkn hot and needing to pee... had sweet f. a sleep last night, cant sleep now too damn hot with the sun blazing in the bedroom/loungeroom.

Just discovered Ants in the CLEAN kitchen again...nothing is anywhere no sugar, no nothing fkn ants!!!!! so i cracked it, Dp told me to shut up and stop being so moody... man i could kill him. He has nooooooo clue sometimes.

Im hot bothered damn tired, over it all and he has to sit there on his lazy ass and come out with sh!t like that. Me who has to do 90% of everything in this damn house. Only on the odd occassion does he help. Well screw him.

:banghead::mad::banghead: Sorry needed to Vent!

tazzystone

Get it all out AD..... thats the way, its better venting to us than a brick wall, sometimes Men just dont understand do they.

PS have you tried Ant Rid?

AD - How confusing!

Tazzy - Oh dear! I hope you are feeling better now.

Called Obs to change appt to tomorrow but fully booked out til my appointment on Friday. Thought if I mentioned the pains I'd be put in but she said she can transfer me to the middies. I said no, I was at work but if it gets worse or doesn't go away I will call them tonight to see what they say.

Had a bit more spotting before but brighter. The only thing is it didn't appear to be coming from 'there' but near there where it feels a bit irritated (SORRY TMI!!!). So not sure & may feel silly if I went for that! LOL.

Had lunch with sister and mum as mum's b'day today. I saw them on weekend & my sister says I have dropped HEAPS since Sunday!!! She doesn't even know that you drop in preg or anything as pretty clueless with respect to those sort of things so that was interesting!

Hopefully the pains are just preparing me. Mum thinks I will go before I finish work especially since work seems to bring on more pains and BH's for me as doing so much and stressed.

She thinks maybe 28th Feb - SHEZI haven't u got your heart set on the 28th? Hope we don't have them at the same time as you're my SMS buddy! LOL.

M2B - If i go early which I think I will I'll text u as well just in case Shezi is in labour / in hospital.

AquaDevil78
20-02-2007, 04:04 PM
Tried Ant rid, think im gonna call R.E and get a pest control or soemthing, seriously you go out side and there are ants friggen everywhere.. all around the perimeter of the house, on the patio, in Dp's car... i have never seen so many damn ants before. Still ****s me that they come inside, i thought they where only attracted to sugar etc but nooo even in a spotless house. I know my house is clean, but when i see Ants it makes me feel like its not ifykwim.

Oh course, I expect a text from you! Don't go too early though! When I finally pop I will text everyone, you should all be home by then - so who ever is free can just post the details away if that's cool?

AD, it's good to get it out! Men just don't understand, you think they would especially as we are carrying their child - NO WAY! I think it's worst since I got preggers! LOL. Bloody ants, hope they go away, call the RE for sure.

R&T's Mum, Chloe is such a beautiful name. You are so good keeping the sex a secret from DH!

Shezi, what's the epi thing that you can walk around with. I only ever thought there was the one that you couldn't move with?

Carrie, call the middies tonight and just ask them over the phone... you are having so many pains, hopefully it's not a sign that she is coming!

 afternoon all.

I just wish i had an actual date
I know what you mean. It's such a pain in the butt.

Hi everyone,
I'm finally back. Living in Qld now - took ages to find a rental and living with the in-laws was wearing thin. All ready for meeting bub - so very excited!
Haven't got the weeks and weeks it would take to catch up on all the previous posts so I'll just presume everyone is well until told otherwise.
I'm good - finding it harder to get around now, carpal tunnel has kicked in, my hips are sore and my feet bear a serious resemblance to balloons! But it's all bringing my baby closer so I try not to whinge to DH too much.
Well that's all from me,
Keep well!
Welcome back  yes it would take you ages to catch up on all the posts lol.

I dont have my first internal until 40 weeks (I'll be 40 +5) which is when I'll ask him to do a S&S. By this time with my last ob I'd had more than I could count! LOL.
I'm so glad I only got one internal and that was for the pain in the butt pap smear at the beginning of my preg.

Taryn you look so good in your birth pics.

How u feeling Emma? and how is your little man?
Hey AD I am rather good at the moment...I have SIL staying with me for the week and even though she hogs Cooper lol, it allows me to catch up on sleep and housework. And DH lets me sleep in too which is good, It doesn't feel like I have a baby cos I'm not tired lol. Pain wise, it gets easier each day.

Have you got everything really for your bub?

Edit- Opps little man is good too. See I forget I have him he's so quite lol.

Welcome back Mammy2b.

Tazzy, love the pics.. especially the bottom right one.

Eeek.. forgot about my perenial massage, even bought the oil fo rit.

CarrieB, my mothers birthday tomorrow . Her 60th.

Bought some Nat Sulph for fluid retention, hopefully that will help the carpel tunnel too.

Hospital bags... I don't even have a bag@ Need to borrow an overnight case.

Nearly finsihed packing my bags. Been getting the period type cramps this evening coming and going so figure I need to get my backside into gear. I have 19 days to go till due date which is getting kinda close. I blink and another 3 days pass.

Emma, good to hear all is well.

LT, good luck with the fluid retention stuff.

I have M2B's # for when bubs arrives. Shezi will probably be busy busy busy with her own by then.

Anyway, Im gonna go crash on the couch. DH is cooking which is nice. DS is playing outside. The dog isn't barking and its a reasonable TV night tonight then an early night. Hopefully get over this crankiness by tomorrow.

Have a good night girls.

Sorry i havent read all the posts for today, well you know how my amniotic fluid was low, my Ob rang me from her home today (she doesnt consult on tuesdays) and asked me to meet her at her office at 330pm with my DH.

I thought "ooh this sounds scary", and when i got there she said that the Dr at the ultrasound place had informed her of my results, and she told me i need to be induced TONIGHT!

Then she checked my cervix and told me i was 1-2cm dilated, and she will change my hospy booking from tonight to tomorrow morning at 7am beause cervix looks good.

So ive got tonight to organise lots of things, and try to sleep, then get to hospy by 7am tomorrow morning, and hopefully see my baby tommorrow sometime or maybe the next morning.

thanks guys, i've got Shezi and M2B's mobile numbers from you Shezi. I am having gel at 8am so maybe it will take until the next day before bub arrives, i'm not too sure really.

My ob says she will come back at lunchtime to check on me and put me on a drip if i need it.

Am very scared, just running around organising animls into kennels etc, and packing. Darn i have so much clothes that are damp, but i will make do.
Very excited.

Tazzy - feel for you re the card activation. You must have done really well to only cry in the car... hope you get it sorted out okay tomoz.

Mammy2be - welcome back girl!!! Hope you are enjoying Maryborough.

AD - hope you get some relief from the ants. Definately call your RE! We own a rental property and have had to spray for ants in the past when our tenants had probs. I'm sure the rules would be similar down your way.

DH home in the next 4-5 hours or so....:smiliedance:.

forgot who asked about the epi i had but the middie i talked to earlier explained it as a very low dose to take the edge off.. with me it completely took away my back pain, i felt everything else. which was fine coz my back was the problem! hehe. im hoping to use the shower heads positioned on my back this time to see if that helps first.. the middie also said they like to use epis as "last resort"

sorry firsttime pregbrain hehe! and yes im with jaimie dont forget the camera & a video camera(if ya have one). if my sis makes it to the delivery she's bringing her video camera so i'll have the birth video'd and her first moments.. and no doubt chris will be going nuts with the camera again

Hello all!

Good luck first time!!!! So excited for u. :hugs:

Woke up for hourly toilet break and didn't feel like going back to bed so thought I'd catch up on what has been happening with u guys. Have drunk a bottle of water sincce so doubt I'll get much sleep now as I will have a full bladder.

Had ob appoint today. Mum came as she was down for the day. SHe just sat in the waiting room but she was amazed how quick the appoint was. Anyway - the doc checked we knew when to come into hospital and he said he'd rather we came in earlier than later as he didn't want us to have the baby in the car. Funny coz the hospital seem to encourage u to labor as much as possible at home.

DOc said bub was half in my pelvis, and I was having a contraction while he listened to the bubs heartbeat! Wierd thought! I asked what size he thought he was and he said not big, not small.

Hope everyone is doing ok. Hope the heat in melbourne cools off for u melbournians.

Sweet dreams to those of u who are managing to sleep!

Nothing much to report here. Got lots of period type pains last night and the baby has moved into the wrong position again so was killing my back. Not impressed. Took days to move her last time and I seem to have difficulty keeping her where shes meant to be. Wonder if I can move her back before she runs out of room.

That sounds like such a nice idea! I should do a day with the kids as a treat. I try to do a day or two where we go play with little friends but nothing just me and Sam (and soon to be baby).

I know what you mean about labour. Im hoping to make it till mum comes over in 1.5 weeks but to be honest, the past couple of days Ive been so uncomfortable and so grumpy that Im secretly hoping these period pains turn into definite contractions.

Wow, another March mummy in Feb. I missed all of the excitment last night but goodluck with everything firsttime.

Went to dinner at my mums last night and Logan fell off the bean bag, hit his cut and it swelled right up. Now this morning it has reopened and is bleeding :banghead: Lucky I have a doc appointment so I will get her to check it. I just wish the bloody thing will heal properly. I was in tears on the way home last night. Just very emotional the last few days...strange. My brother always makes me feel like **** though when I'm around him. He drives me insane. It really annoys me when he says something like he knows more about parenting than us!! (he doesnt have kids - poor guy though he wants them but his wife doesnt). And everytime I see him he comments on how big I am with "are you sure you're not having twins" why why why....do people have to comment like that. I am no bigger than I was with Logan. It probably wouldnt bother me anyone else saying it though - just my brother gets on my nerves.

Anyway enough of my whinge. Hope everyone has a good day today.

Morning girls! I came on last night to get updated once I got home... but once I finished the last thread I got too tired, boy am I kicking myself! Firsttime, sorry I didn't get a chance to wish you well before you left, but thinking of you and your little bub today, can't wait to hear all about it! :hugs:

Thanks for the comments on my cot girls! Turns out I have to wait till early next week to get it which is frustrating, but it does give me time to actually make room for it, he he (it means cleaning out the bedroom so the our bed can be rotated to make it fit!)

AD-I hope you're having a better day with your DH, I had one of those shockers on Monday, but all good now *phew*

Taryn, poor little Logan, I hope the doc can get it sorted without too much prodding, boy the forehead is a sucky place to get injured, always an annoyance!

Anna, I'm waiting a few minutes (maybe 3-5) with the cord too, I decided to do that after hearing the pros and cons of leaving it to stop pulsating... both have their disadvantages so I figured I'd hedge my bets ;)

I was shocked to read on my handout from birth class that they are listing cod-liver oil as a labour inducer! They do say "as a last resort" but I still think it's irresponsible (especially as they don't go in to the risks, so people may well think it's a last resort when the baby is not ready at all!). Wish I'd read it while I was there so I could bring it up. I'll have to say something at my appointment next week.

37 weeks today! Dh is now on the ball, so on Wednesdays I will say "it's Wednesday darling", he'll look nervous, me: "so, how far am I then?" and finally he has started answering with the right week  I think the fear of getting it wrong made him shape up!

Sorry for the "me" post, in all honesty I can't actually remember what I was going to say to everyone, and my fingers are in a chatty mood, LOL

Hugs to all and bumps (and little early piglets)

XGin

P.S. Welcome back Mammy2be! Glad to hear the move went well, and great that you could be back with us before the birth of your bub!

Morning!

Firsttime - yay very excited for you! Can't believe we're going to have another March bubba here soon. Goodluck and I'm thinking of you.

Tazzy - hope Logan is ok! How did you get on at the Dr's?

Anna- what is the benefits of leaving the cord for awhile? I was just reading a pretty old book and it said that supposedly babies do better if the cord is cut quite soon after birth. I know it is an old book so times may have changed...
How are your pains today?

Well I decided to stay home from work today. I really over did it yesterday by doing the grocery shopping on my own and then trying to cook DH a nice dinner. Because I'm home on Tuesdays I feel the pressure to be a good wife and serve him an imaginative meal each time but in the end I ended up on the lounge in a flood of tears for two hours while he cooked because I was too exhausted. I think I have a bit of a bug which doesn't help...feel vomity and headachy (sorry if TMI) I promised him I would do nothing all day and so far so good :D

I wonder how Firsttime is doing and looking forward to hearing from Lana today too if she gets a chance to pop in.

Basically, 30% of babys blood is still in the placenta so many believe it puts too much unnecessary strain on the heart if cut immediately but then on the other hand, the higher number of jaundiced babies are the ones who have had the cord left to stop pulsing. Somewhere in the middle seems a safe bet to me personally.

Pains are still there but no so bad. Thanks for asking. :)

BG, its castor oil thats the no-no one now. Not sure about cod liver oil. Im just going to stick to acupuncture if I go over......... and S&S if I make it to 5 days over which I cant see happening. Now knowing my luck after being so sure its not going to happen I'll be induced at 10 days over  . Congrats on meeting 37 weeks! Anytime from now........

Anyway, DS is singing in the bath. Need to pay him some attention. Feel quite bad as I haven't done that much today. :(

God Antonio yesterday seriously didnt stop moving from 5:30am yesterday til i went to be at 2am this morning! I know they say its good to feel movements and all, but my god isn't he bloody tired now? LOL. I dont mean constant movements but every 10 mins or so he'd either kick or wriggle. Last movement i felt was when he was sticking his feet under my ribs.. OUCH! Lucky for me i made him move. Phew.

Is too much movement any worse than no movement? or was he just having a hyper day.

He seems quite so far, must be asleep FINALLY!!

Annsam as im having a C/s could i still request to leave the cord unclamped for say 2 mins? or would that not be an option as i have to be stitched up?

I myself have been getting dull period pains last two days.. i think im the only one here that doesn't want to go into labor.. as been told they dont want me to either.. :fingerscrossed: i just getting pains and nothing else happens next two weeks.

I think thats why i was so confused and ****ed off yesterday as at my last appt, they stressed it wouldn't be good to go into labor/waters break, so 37 weeks would be my cut off to avoid this and the OB yesterday says they prefer to wait to 38 weeks so bubs has a better chance?? If i do happen to go into labor before my C/s i wont be happy. She also said i was minimal risk, where as last week i was high risk. Then again she didnt exactly read my notes properly, even had to ask me if i had, had my second u/s (32 week). I wish the Ob i was meant to see was there... then it wouldn't be an issue. But nooo he has to take an extended holiday doesn't he. Ahh well what can i do. They also said at last appt, that wouldnt palp my abdomen anymore incase of rupturing placenta, as on front, and what does she do, poked and prodded and i told her to stop coz it hurt which it did, and she said thats fine.

Anyway... yesterday was just a **** day full stop... i want a date dammit!

Might call clinic and see when i can expect a call, as i forgot to ask yesterday.

OMG I DON'T COME ON FOR ONE NIGHT & ANOTHER ONE OF YOU GIRLS IS HAVING A BABY!!! Congratulations, hugs & kisses & lots of luck FIRST TIME!!! Hope you are having a good labour xxx UPDATE - Okay so I was getting those pains yesterday & then on the drive home every bump gave me a shooting pain. I got home & burst into tears as had constant BH's and these bad sharp shooting pains all down there. Also crying cos it is not fair that I get to work nearly an hour early then I ended up staying back til nearly 5 anyway so seem to be working more hours. Plus really busy & stressed at work and then I have to do my work & train someone new next week. I REALLY thought I was in early labour. I called the m/w at the hospital and she said it is either painful BH's as if you sit down in an office at work all day the BH's are more painful or it is early stages of labour!!! She said she'd call back in 2 hours - so around 8pm - and I had to have a warm shower, relax, eat dinner, watch tv & MAKE SURE MY BAG IS PACKED in case. So I had my shower, shaved my legs and everything in case, then lay down but felt really nauseous. DH was making a roast and sitting there eating dinner I felt really sick and had BACK PAINS. I then threw up a couple of times. So at 7.30pm DH had his shower & got dressed, printed out the phone numbers etc, I packed last toilettries as really thought we'd have to go down the hospital. She called back & I told her the only pains down there was when I got up from lying down but told her about the bad nausia and vomitting and back pain and I felt really hot etc. She thought it may be just a UTI so she called the Ob and called back and he said prob a UTI so I just had to go to the 24 hour medical centre to get tested. So we went down there and I HAD A F**KING UTI!!! I felt so STUPID & EMBARRASSED!!! Honestly though I have had HEAPS of UTI's in the past and they felt nothing like that! It doesn't even sting when I pee & when they asked if I went frequently I said yes but not much but it doesn't sting & it's the pressure of the baby! IT FELT TOTALLY DIFFERENT to other UTI's I've had. Dr was surprised I was still working full time, gave me a medical certificate for today off so I slept in til 8.30 as was so tired last night & done my housework so just relaxing now. I still feel quite sick in the stomach though but haven't had more pains. Baby hasn't moved much at all today so hope she is okay.SORRY FOR THE 'ME' POST thought you may want to know what was happening!

CarrieB, :hugs:'s in all serious hun, i really think you should finish up work.. all this stress is not good for you, your Dp or your little baby... you need to chill and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy. I know you say your work doesn't want you to leave.. but you are number one and they will make do without you! Your going to be leaving anyway to have baby soon, so whats a week or so earlier going to matter? It really isn't a crime to not work right up until you pop. YOU AND BUBS ARE NUMBER ONE!

AD - That's why I wanted to change my ob appointment to today to tell him & get a medical certificate to finish up on Friday however he can't see me before my appointment 4pm Friday afternoon :( I didn't tell work what sort of infection i had, just 'an infection' and yesterday they kept saying I looked like sh!t and worn out but then they keep giving me heaps of work! There's just no one there until next Monday to take over and she has to be trained as I'm only secretary in our section and only one who knows what to do :( Besides if I turn up tomorrow & say look I have to finish tomorrow (Friday) it's too short notice & I have to leave at 2pm on Friday anyway so it'd only be a day & a half (and I'd miss out on my present! LOL) Maybe I should call HR dude (he's hot btw! LOL) and say look I can't do this anymore ...

Bluegin - congrats on 37 weeks! We will be tomorrow. I keep thinking it can't be - I can't bellieve we are really that far along!

Is anyone storing the cord blood?

I keep worrying that we've been told the wrong sex of the bub too - i mean i am totally convinced it's a boy (couldn't imagine a girl kicking as hard as he does) but if it turned out to be a girl we would have to redecorate the nursery (that or hope she's a tom boy! ha ha).

Hope all is going well for first time.

BG, its castor oil thats the no-no one now. Not sure about cod liver oil.

Anyway, DS is singing in the bath. Need to pay him some attention. Feel quite bad as I haven't done that much today. :(

Oops, I meant castor oil, he he, the cod liver oil is what the middy said to make sure is in the zinc barrier cream for nappy changes :o
Well all though you may feel bad, it sounds like Sam is having a great time matey, so I'm sure he doesn't feel like his Mum is neglecting him :hugs:

AD- grrr, it sounds like you're getting the run around with them! Are you able to ask for another appointment? It really doesn't seem from what you're saying that she really understood the seriousness of the situation (especially prodding your tummy, what the?) I hope you get some answers soon mate.
Oh, and about movement, I was wondering the same thing! Bubble was manic yesterday, and the night before, real "Alien" movements, LOL

It does this thing where it twists around which can hurt a bit, but as room is running out it has gotten a little freaky... I can see the muscle (on left side, running from belly button upwards) stretching sideways as it pushes passed, then it "twangs" back in to place! Kind of gross, he he, and the grinding on my hips, it just doesn't seem comfy for my little one

Carrie- you poor thing, it really does sound like you would benefit from the time off. Could you take the rest of this week, and tell them that you'll try come back next week but it might be too much? I hope you're having a relaxing day!

Frangi, your DH sounds like a sweety taking care of you so well, and I'm sure he wouldn't mind you missing a Tuesday at this point!

Oh, Anna, I sure hope those pains have eased up for you, sound nasty. The only major pain I have other than that tear is the burning pelvis... getting really really bad lately, Mum thinks once the Bubble drops it should ease, so hopefully it drops very soon!

LOL AD, yep, every so often I think it just can't be normal to make some of the movements my tummy makes! He he, but ADHD... hmm... you might be on to something!
Glad to hear you're seeing the other Ob, interestingly it is the female Ob who just blew me off when I had concerns, the male was so much more considerate and helpful! Due to her rushing me so much, it kind of feels like I'm having a month in between appointments, not 2 weeks (she replaced one of my fortnightly middy visits)

Glad to hear you are so well Emma, so how long is you SIL staying? It will be pretty cool in a way when it's just you and your DH, but sounds like she is good at helping you ease in to the whole Mum thing though. Such a strange thought!

I freaked DH out earlier, asked him if he was scared that in around 3 weeks he'll be a Dad... he didn't say anything for a while, he he, yep, he's scared alright! :p ;)

Carrie and AD :hugs:

Carrie I would tell work when you want to finish and thats it. When I worked my employer found someone when I was like 3 months. They just wanted to make sure she was right for the position. I trained with her for 2 months and then I was just a floater in the office. It was quite good as my job was pretty stressful so I just got all of these little boring jobs for the rest of the time which were cruisey. Its hard when you are the only one who knows how to run things. Offices just dont work without a secretary do they!! But you cant feel bad as you do have to do what is right for yourself and bub in the end. I would say train her for a day or 2 and then maybe you could leave her for 2 days and then go in for another day on the friday and then she can have a heap of questions for you and then finish. Maybe just tell them if she needs to call you at home to ask something she can (if you dont mind). I went casual from 34 weeks to 36 and then finished.

Well docs went well baby is 3/5ths now and doc doesnt think it will get any further down which I agree. measure 37cm no extra weight this week :smiliedance:

Logan went OK, they cleaned it again and put sterry (sp?)strips on there. He cried AGAIN but hopefully this will work. It had only opened a little so its not too big. I just have to keep the strip on him and they gave me extra incase. I love my doctor. I only had one appointment and took mum and Logan and she did stuff for both of them at the same time. Thats my last appointement with her until bubs is born  My next one is with the hospy!

Annsam that sounds like a good idea leaving the cord for a couple of min. Last time I was bleeding quite a lot so they had to cut it quick and I was on the birth stool so it made it all rush rush to get me up on the bed etc!!

I'm having a hot curry for dinner tonight :D

Emma you sound really happy, motherhood is such a joy, the best feeling in the world. Its strange that your body can cope with being woken up and it seems to runs on not much sleep. It certainly is trained for dealing with a newborn.

I asked the Ob about storing cord blood last time. Im kinda confussed about the whole thing. Apparently only 3 hospitals in Sydney do it and mine isn't one of them. Its all a bit confussing. Whats your thoughts? Are you doing it?

I wondered about the sex being wrong too so I got the Ob to doulb echeck. He even gave me a photo of her genetals. Not quite sure what Im going to do with those but there you go! LOL. Its girls they usually get wrong too - its rarely boys.

Oops, I meant castor oil, he he, the cod liver oil is what the middy said to make sure is in the zinc barrier cream for nappy changes

Oh, Anna, I sure hope those pains have eased up for you, sound nasty. The only major pain I have other than that tear is the burning pelvis... getting really really bad lately, Mum thinks once the Bubble drops it should ease, so hopefully it drops very soon!

LOL. Ok. Yeah it is a bit irresponsible if they dont put the risks isn't it. Maybe its the old school midwives that have decised to include it?

Thanks for the wishes. Hope your pains ease up too. Dont envy your tear at all!

AD, :hugs: CAn only imagine how frustrating it must be to not have a date yet. As for the cord, Im really not sure what the deal is with c/s sorry. Good question though. When you find out - let me know

Carrie, take it easy. I second what the girls have already said.

So far today Ive had three "how are you feeling" phone calls. All very sweet. Im not minding it so much at the moment. Give me a couple of weeks and that may be a different story. At least no one seems to be taking my sudden anti-social behaviour personally. Thats a blessing I guess.

THANKS GIRLS! (insert hugs here ***) Well I called work & left a message & he just called me back and I asked him about finishing Tuesday instead of Friday and how they thought I was in early labour last night. I thought the new girl was starting Monday but apparently her boss is a pr*ck & as she gave her notice in the late afternoon he is making her work Monday and can't start til Tuesday. Anyway, we came to a great compromise - I am OFFICIALLY finishing up work on Friday - even reminded him I have a dr's appointment Friday afternoon so will be leaving early which he is fine about - and then next week I just come in for 2 hours a day - they will have the old dude pick me up around 9.30am so I can sleep in & I'll work about 10-12 doing solid training with her and will still get paid for the hours I go in! I AM SO RELIEVED & HAPPY!!! I said that's fine! he said that's more use than me coming in for one day to do my typing work or whatever for the solicitors (doubt David would agree lol). So as I finish early Friday I ONLY HAVE 1 1/2 DAYS OFFICIALLY LEFT OF WORK!!! I got a message from one of my mates at work saying she just heard what was happening, good on me etc & I asked if David was PO'd & she said yes he is but it is more at Sam (hr guy who i spoke to) for not having enough staff. I am STRESSING about tomorrow though as I know I will be really busy tomorrow after having today off.

CORD BLOOD - I was interested in this however I had the same impression about public storage Annsam. Also I asked ob and he said at this time where it is pretty new and so expensive and our hospital doesn't do it anyway he wouldn't really recommend it. He said maybe in a few yrs when they have found a cost-effective way to do it and most hospitals offer it.EMMA - How are you going? Cooper sounds like such a good little boy! Are you breastfeeding or bottle? Just wondering if you are breast feeding - is it hard or uncomfortable?Wonder how First Time is going?!! How exciting ... TAZZY - Poor DS! Hope he cheers up soon. That's great of your dr to see all of you like that!M2B - That's gr8 about your work as well letting u finish earlier & still get paid! I think there was someone else to reply to but preg brain has hit again!!
SEX - I was worried about the sex too! LOL. I thought she would've grown boy bits by my 35 week scan! She was still a girl and that was more relieving than the fact the placenta had moved! LOL. He'd look very gay! Hahaha ... AD - Ella was so hyper yesterday & didn't help my pains however today she is so QUIET I've been worried. Maybe she's catching up on sleep ...

BlueGin
21-02-2007, 12:38 PM
Anna, thanks, the pains are relatively minor today, and I've just got to be sure I don't laugh too hard and the tear usually leaves me alone for a bit, he he, it's such a non-preg-like pain that in some ways I don't mind it, which seems weird to me!

I haven't had any calls yet, I think my reluctance to share either sex (noone believe I didn't ask at the U/S), name, or EDD has led people to believe that I would not appreciate being harassed... they'd be right too! :p

AD- I generally go with male health care people, 'cept for my middies, in general they are fantastic, I guess it's the type of person maybe who chooses that career?

Oh, Anna, I think you're right about the "old-school" women including that, as it's general hospy info they've given me, not birth centre, and that's where all the battle-axes work, he he ;)

Emma, I'll bet you get a lot of people going all gooey when you take the little man out shopping! You must be very very proud. And :fingerscrossed: it's Saturday at the latest eh? :p

As for cord blood, I am able to donate at mine, but only if they clamp it instantly so I'm not a candidate anyway! A bit of a shame, as I'd happily donate, but now I've decided a few minutes delay is best for the baby, I feel I owe it to it go with my gut on this one.

Oh, and no HepB injection for my baby I've decided. After a good chat about risks the other night I am happy enough to leave it till the 2 month shot. I will however go with vitamin K, I just haven't found enough info saying negatives about it, but the risks (although minute) sound so horrible that I figure it will be best. However if anyone has any info they think I need to know before going ahead with it I am always interested!

Question for you all: Do your hospitals do the screening and heel pr!ck tests straight after the birth? I was surprised to find that mine do it a few days later at your house, when they're doing the second weigh, as they find the babies are happier and more settled. Not sure if this is standard practice or not.

Hope you're home and well Lana, how is Amity feeling about the whole business?

I rather he move than not, but just seems excessive yesterday and now today.

AD, It cant hurt to give your Ob/hospital a call and enquire if you think its really OTT. They may want to run a CTG or scan.

Good point. Forgot that it has to be immediate clamping. Rules me out then anyway.

I too am opting to decline the Hep B but will go for Vit K injection.

Not sure what my hospital does with the heel ***** test but when I had Sam, the hospital there did it on day 3 (yeah, baby blues day when your feeling rotten they stick a needle into your bub  ).

Good news Carrie!

I too was wondering how Lana is getting on. Guess we'll hear soon hopefully.

Sam had the shortest nap in history today. Poor tyke. He fell asleep on the couch so was really tired but the painters decided to paint his external bedroom wall 10 minutes after I carried him up to bed. Could have done with a nap myself.

Good on you Carrie, you are so lucky! Glad you can finally take it easy and enjoy the rest of it! Can you call my boss and ask him if I can leave earlier too? LOL

AD, forgot to reply - yeah we can swap babies names too! hehe. Wow Antonio sounds like Madi, crazy little bubba, we always joke and say Madi has ADHD. Because of the way Antonio is lying, maybe just call to double check that's it's ok.

I have no idea about cord blood, we did read it and DH was very interested but we just can not afford it. I hope none of us have to use it later on too! I think they do the ***** test the 1st day at our hospital, when I stayed in Maternity last month a lady had her littel bubba done a few hours after he was born.

LL, only 2 more sleeps you lucky thing! Have fun getting waxed, you are brave, I find it hurst too much, actually should do it to prepare myself for the labour pains - hehe

I hope Firsttime is doing ok, best wishes of good luck coming your way!

I hope Lana, Sam, Amity and Griffin are all settling in at home. Can't wait to hear from you Lana!

BG/Annsam - my hospital does cord blood donation and I have ben considering doing it but it is for donor purpose only....they don't store it for you to use. I am all for donation and if the birth of my baby helps someone else then that makes it all the more worth while, however I wouldn't do it if it puts my babies health in jeopardy so I am going to discuss with my OB at the next visit and see what he says.

Carrie- great news re work! What a good out come for you!

BG- sorry to hear you have to wait for the cot. Like you I'm waiting for the change table I ordered...just want to get the nursery finished! We are picking up the pram/bassinet, cot mattress and a few odds and ends on sat.

LL- only 2 sleeps yay for you! Have fun at the beautician...too painful for me!

I just my labour bag and half of my hospital bag :smiliedance: and then had the nicest hour nap which I could do again but feel like I should be doing something else. Hopefully I wont lie awake for hours tonight like the last two nights.

Where is Shezi today? Maybe she is competing with Firsttime? I think we will start to think the march mummies are in labour when they haven't posted in a while, considering we have already/almost 3 bubbas here - hehe

Have a lovely arvo AD! It's great when the guys pop out for a while - pure bliss!

day 2 for M & D. not sure about new hospital though.. a few hours after birth is a bit rough IMO! as if bub hasnt been through enough!

so whats the go with not having the hepB shot for bubs? i've never argued with that or the vit K. just assumed it was best. any advice would be great..

well done carrie!! good to know you'll have a few weeks rest before bub comes!!

we had a rent inspection today.. they're 3monthly but the lady has requested they now be 6monthly as she said the house is always great :D mainly thanx to my mum haha.. i do everything but she comes in and mops for me before they arrive hehe. i love my mum :D

ok i am exhausted.. D slept in the car for 20minutes on the way home from dancing and thinks she's had her sleep.. im so annoyed and tired.. and to top it off she keeps trying to wake up M!

anyway im gonna go.. i have a dr's appt in 40minutes.. i hope mums home in time coz i plan on leaving the monsters with her hehe. only coz i want dr to do the S&S and dont want the girls in the room while thats going on..

Shezi, My personal reasons for not getting the hep b shot are:
1. Only 2 are required for the immunisation scheme- 3 is only necessary if you are in a high risk environment.
2. I learnt in nursing that there is absolutely no medical reason to give the majority of babies this shot at birth. Its done for convenience alone. With this in mind I dont feel its necessary on her immature immune system.
3. We (as in my family) are not in a high risk environment.
Thats me personally though. Its very individual.

Carrie B, You lucky thing.
I'm sitting here doing some work on a massive web site and hating every minute on it. Can't wait to have all this over and done with.

I seriously think I'll be working during labour and know I'll definetly have to work after toadlet arrives.

I'm hot ..... I want to die!

Shezi, looking forward to hearing how the appointment goes! Your Mum sounds great, a lot like mine actually, LOL, I just wish they'd move closer to us! Funny though, we're on MSN all the time, and Dad and I email eachother at least 5 times a day (mostly talking about the weather radar in Summer, he he) so even if they did live close not a great deal would change!

LT- you poor chicky, it must be bad if you aren't climbing :hugs:, I hope you get a good old temp. dropping deluge soon! Always makes it so much nicer to be working at the computer in the rain too! That's what I'm hoping for to get me finishing all my round the house stuff, this humid freaking annoying annoying weather is NOT conducive to effort...

Shezi- my reasons for not getting Hep B is that none of my family are considered high risk so I figure it's one less jab for the little one. I will be going with the rest of the schedule though, which means giving the shot at 2 months.

VitaminK- As far as I know there is only a teensy chance of them needing it, but being such hideous results if they do have this problem, and it not being a vaccination, I figure "better safe than sorry!"

LT - I'm with you hot and bothered! Just finished mopping the floor in just a t-shirt and undies Hello Neightbours !!

Firsttime - Good luck with everything!! Another March Mummy by tonight hopefully!

For those that are looking at finishing work early with Ruby I was able to get sick pay up until she was born due to my pre-eclampsia (I wasnt working for myself at this time) so if your Dr advises you to finish early get him to write you a certificate and then you might not miss out on some pay you might otherwise have recieved if you stayed on longer. Our head of HR suggested I do that and I must say I was thrilled.

Cord Blood - We have privately banked Tillys cord blood. We didnt do it with Ruby as knew not much about it. About 2 months before Tilly was born we had a friends son die of leukemia, cord blood might have helped him. Our friends regretted not keeping cord blood. We made a decision to sacrifice a few things and spend the money. Its about $3500 over 18 years (once Tilly turns 18 it is legally hers to do what she wants to with it) and the money comes out of our account on her birthday. We decided we will love to sit back in 18 years and go oh well that was $3500 we blew rather than say if only... The great thing is Ruby and the new baby can use Tilly's cord blood if needed so we wont bank this babies as well. With the public banking happening more and more in a few years it will probably be pointless to have private banking but I must say I love having the security that its there if we need it.

R&T's mum, thats really great re the cord banking and its likely to be a good match for you and DH aswell as the girls. Sad about what led to it though.

Re the hep b at birth, I dont know what every hospital does but I would assume that its done with the Vit K. I dont even recall Sam having his but its in his blue book so he must have. You have to sign a parental consent form for both but again, I dont recall signing that. Must have though. Going a bit dim with age I think.

Im with you on the Vit K BG. I haven't been able to find any info on detrimental effects of having the injection so Im happy to have it and avoid the risk no matter how small.

Wonder how Firsttime is getting on.........:detective:

LT, I hear you about the humidity. Im dying in it too.

annsam
21-02-2007, 05:31 PM
LOL. There you are Shezi.

Re the induced contractions - they are MUCH stronger. Couple of reasons why. Firstly, the syntocinon forces uterine contractions above and beyond what your body does and secondly, they build so quickly your endorphins (body's natural pain killer) hasn't had time to increase its levels in your blood stream. Endorphins are very very effective (supposed to be something like 100 or 1000 x stronger than morphine) but they aren't quick.

PS fantastic news re the dillation!

My friend who had the bub at the same hospital last week, well they didnt even offer it to her when she was overdue.

Apparently Chelsea is 3.7kg already, I laughed and said to the doc "Sooo, how many pounds is that??" HE said around 8lb LOL Oh My Gosh LOL ... I feel big and whale"ish" but I was thinking about how much she would weigh at birth and would have been surprised if she had made it to 7lb - but she's way beyond that ... I'm sooo stoked that she is a healthy 8lb though!!! They say to give or take 20% - so I guess that is 1/5th difference that is still possible.

Cord Blood - Sorry to confuse you guys. We went with cryosite and there is an initial payment of I think about $500 and then the rest of the money is divided up over the 18 years and is taken out of your account every year on the childs birthday. So no you dont pay at the end you pay every year. If you use it or choose to stop storing it then you can stop the payments as basically you are paying for the storage every year. From memory there are some threads on the subject if you want to do more research or try cryosites web site, they seemed the most flexible and not as expensive as some. By the way only some hosp will collect for private storage and your OB has to be registered with them to collect as well.

LL - how are you going? its getting close now!!

Any news on first time? I am going with GIRL and 7lb 6ounces

Annsam - just checked the girls blue books and they both were given the shot on day 2 and t3 respectivly. I so cannot remember them doing it!!

You girls are clever I have not worked out how to multi-quote can someone give me a run down

Well we just got back from the beach. Dh got home from work early and we ducked down to Balmoral and had a swim and then grabbed fish and chips. Why does fish and chips always taste so good when you are sitting on the beach Yum !! Ruby did not want to get out of the water even though she was cold all the way through, she is just a fish and would swim all night if we let her while Tilly lasts about 2 mins before she wants out. Ruby is just like her Dad and Tilly is just like me LOL!!!

So shezi, is an S and S to get things moving? I have no clue, as to what exactly it does... if so anything yet ? Hehehe

You know the more i think about it the more angry i get at what happened or didnt happen at my appt on Tuesday... plus how do i know the stupid b!tch will even remember to contact hospital to arrange them to make a booking for me... she was running that late and rush rush it wouldn't surprise me... im gonna be having words with my usual Ob this coming tuesday... im worried that 3 weeks ago, i was told quite serious and not to go into labour etc, any bleeding or waters break call ambos asap, or get driven if they take to long...(this is what Ob was told from hospital when he was on phone to them) to oh we prefer to wait til 38 weeks and prodding my belly... when not meant too... and told i would be booked in this tuesday... which was the whole idea of the damn appt in the first place... stupid me for not being more assertive i guess.

AD -
Stretch and sweep

A traditional method of trying to nudge the body into labour when overdue (http://www.babyworld.co.uk/information/birth/induction/main.asp). The doctor or midwife does an internal examination and attempts to stretch the cervix and sweep a finger around the membranes. Sometimes this is enough to get labour going if the cervix is ripe.

Hope that helps.

CONGRATS FIRSTTIME!!
THATS GREAT NEWS! so its all boys for the March Mum Club so far? cool...

LL- so other than the dinner tomorrow night do you have any plans for tomorrow?
got another doc's appointment plus getting my hair trimmed and blowdried and going to the physio too as my neck and arms are killing me.
so yeh, busy day!!
my mum moved to dubai in december, she will get home (4 weeks) when we are at dinner then she is going to stay at our house to see us off to the hospital on friday morning.

Can't wait to hear how bubs and mum are going and to hear all the gory details :D.

Re cord blood - we don't have the option for private storage at our hospital but we can donate the cord blood for research. I will need to talk to OB about it on Friday's appt as I am all for research into this but know nothing about risks and process etc.

Nothing more happening for me here - went to the gym this morning and did 1/2 hr on treadmill then some weights. Just a light workout as I am really starting to feel ungainly and tire easily. Was hoping it might bring on labour sometime today but no luck so far.... I mentioned this to someone today and they said "its a bit early isnt' it?". For some reason I took real offence to this especially when I only have 1 week and 2 days to official due date, and Ryan was a week early. Just PG hormones I guess :o.

Have a great night girls.

AD- don't you just hate it how by the time it sinks in about these idiots it's hours or days later? :o
I am the same, and am always kicking myself afterwards, but the benefit here is that you'll have the impetus to really drag the info. out of your ob! Can you call the hospy regarding the booking it, just make sure you're on their lists?

Sharon (seriously, have I got it right that it's your name? I call you it every so often, then panic that I've got it wrong :o ), it sounds like you're doing really well with the exercise regime, and I've read good things about your body snapping back in to shape much more easily if you do keep it up while preg, so good on you! As for hormones... he he, I am so shockingly bad with my ups and downs (thankfully a whole heap of ups, with just the occasional down) that I can totally get why that would annoy you!

Very very very quiet Bubble today, I think I jinxed myself AD, LOL, now I'm constantly prodding and moving and eating ice to get it moving

Hey Shez!
Any pains or niggles yet?

nope. no more than usual anyway.. but thats a good thing imo.. im quite happy to stick to my due date or around about that time. just paranoid about being induced hehe.

AD yeah for some it gets things moving.. i always thought it was more coincidence but i guess it depends how well it is done. my dr said "we'll see next week i did it right" haha. but even if it helps my body to 3cms next week i will be really happy.. then im hoping if another is needed it should definately kick things off. im just amazed that she's engaged already.

oh and i was about to go to bed but didnt want yous thinking i was in labour  i will let someone know when i do eventually go in though.

AD im like that when it comes to dr's and appointments.. i just listen to what they say and dont question it and then look back and get so peeved that i kept my mouth shut. is your next appt not till tuesday?? i think you should call him and let him know whats gone on and just clarify what the plan is. hopefully he will organize a date with the hospy for you prior to your appt with him.

oh and bluegin, we sure are! :D haha
no more news yet from firsttime, im sure she's exhausted and catching up with sleep or cuddling her little man! cant wait to hear what they name him.. i cant even remember if she talked about 'possible names'.

i know what you mean.. its funny coz im 38w6d today and this is when i had D :D so it feels funny going past this date but at the same time i had M at 40w5d so it'll be more so if i go past that it'll be weird i think.. odds are she'll be a week overdue haha. just to keep me on my toes! atleast the portacot will definately be here  hehe.
i know when preg with M & D in the last couple of weeks walking would give me heaps of BH and period pain.. i loved it but it was also really uncomfortable to walk and felt like my bladder was going to fall out haha. thats amazing you still go to the gym!

anyway im off to bed. goodnight all!

Woweeeee!! Another Boy ... That's unreal!!!!

I have got a couple of questions for anyone that might know the answers...

Was Firsttime just guessing that she was having a little girl due on March the 1st. That's what was written as part of her signature - just a little scary as she said she was having another girl and the bubby came out a boy... Hopefully she was just guessing because I'm a little freaked out now that Chelsea might come out a boy lol. We are 98% sure it's a girl from our MANY scans - but still... it's got me thinking!

I'm sooo glad though that she now has a dear little son! It'll be a whole new kettle of fish for her.... and hubby & the girls.

The second question is "Did her labour begin naturally or did she have plans to be induced early for some reason???

Can't wait to hear baby's weight etc. BTW - When we announce baby's birth on the announcement thread - are we adding their weight, length and head circumfrence?? I think we should!

I'm excited about becoming a Mummy in 6 days, for sure. There are 2 things that I am hoping don't happen in the mean time :
1) I go into labour before Tuesday morning (because I am preparing myself mentally for Chelsea's Birth on Tuesday.. lol - no earlier hehe.. If she comes early I am sure I will be just as happy but it's gonna throw the emotions out again hehehe - don't worry ladies, I know I can't be picky hehe)
2) The don't post-phone my caesar until Friday of next week. Originally there was talk of the possibility of there not being quite enough theatre staff due to the list for theatre already. Apparently they said it's a 90% sure fire thing that Chelsea will enter the world on Tuesday... but if things go pear shaped they will re-book me for Friday and if I have to have her on Friday I will actually be a full 39 weeks pregnant and then there's more chance that I will go into natural labour and have the caesar chaged into an emergency one. Then it all becomes a rush rush and teary experience..
I know some of you are thinking I must have a lot of spare time on my hands because of all my thinking etc ... I guess I am just sharing my crazy thoughts with you .. that's all.

Thanks for the info re S&S - I'm up to date with what it is now - sounds a little painful though. Shezi - hope you've been okay with it!

LL - I'm with you on the final countdown luv... We will all be with you every step of the way, in spirit and waiting for you right here - for when you get back with your new little bundle of joy... xxxxx

Thanks for all the great wishes and all your joy and excitement on the pending birth of Chelsea
Love ya heaps

Oopsies - I've gotten Firsttimes posts mixed up with Shezi's lol

 Scoob, I was trying to figure out if you were thinking of Shezi or R&T'sMum! Ha ha
As for thinking of all eventualities... i don't think there is a trace of nuttiness in that! You wouldn't believe how many "what if"s I go through, and I don't have the impending date looming so close! I hope they do stick to Tuesday for you though, no need to be stuck wondering for too long!

Bubble has started up some big stretchy movements, lovely little thing must have realised I was worried (or is just being a baby, and I'm a nutter... :p). Can't believe it, but the little foot which nudges around my ribs on my right; just pushed on my ribs at the back! So hard to visualise how hat could be happening :o
It seems to have a grand old time beating up on the poor placenta, LOL, does it not realise how important it is? he he

Yipeee First Time and new baby boy!!. - Congratulations.

Looks like our first five babies might be boys.

Bubhub has a disproportionate number of boys to girl babies. I'm hooping that all these boys so far increase my chances of a girl.

Was Firsttime just guessing that she was having a little girl due on March the 1st. That's what was written as part of her signature - just a little scary as she said she was having another girl and the bubby came out a boy.. - Scoobs.. yes a severe case of pregnancy brain.

Going to try get back to sleep now, there were hhelicopters flying very low sweeps of the cityy all night until about 10pm. Apparently for **** Chaney's visit. I'm sure he'll be very impressed that Australians know how to fly helicopters really low.

Congratulations First Time!!!! Can't wait to hear bubs name and details.:yelclap:

So many bubs almost here! Fell asleep early and woke up around 11pm and DH had his hands on my belly and said he thought he could feel my tummy contracting. Was so sweet that he was having a little bonding with bub.

Cord Blood - our GP and OB weren't very enthusiastic about the private storage of it and said the public banks are a lot more use (as then the people who need it have access to it) as the chances of our bub needing it are slim but we see it a bit like an insurance policy. We've had some close friends go thru serious medical problems lately and I guess it just made us think about it. It sounds like the public banking of it is a fantastic idea and hopefully it will get more common in the next few years so loads of people with illnesses can benefit from it.

Might get a frosty fruit from the freezer...yum!

I found that bub slowed down a bit a few days ago too but over the last 2 days he's been crazy! He seems to be pushing my belly to its limits - i think he might be trying to break out!

Morning girls,

Congratulations Firsttime! Hope bubs is out of care quickly.[

All these boys giving their mummy's issues huh? Apparently boys are nortorious for it.

Nothing to report here. Going to have a nice day with Sam today. Trying to snap out of my grumpy, irritable mood for his sake for at least one day. LOL.

Scoobs, she was induced due to low amniotic fluid.

Shezi, still have fingers crossed that S&S gets things moving for you today. If not then better luck next week huh?

I have my Ob appt tomorrow. Im now on weekly visits.

Ok, nothign to say really. Have a great day girls. Thanks for the updates on Firsttime Shezi.

Morning!!

Anna, Quick query.... I know this is going to be in the TMI catergory... buuuuut.....
I'm pretty sure part of my mucus plug broke away last night. It was such a small amount though. What does it look like? The best way I could describe it is, it looked like clearish but slightly cloudy & thickish white stuff that you'd blow out your nose onto a tissue LOL Am I going along the right lines?? I had a small amount of tummy pain, small as in it only lasted about 45 mins, not small as in it was mild hehe I tho
