Hi

I'm just asking anyone who might know - I need to hire a cocktail/formal dress for a Black Tie dinner on March 9th. Can't find anything in Yellow Pages - they're all men's or bridal - do you know anywhere? I didn't really want to buy anything as I plan to lose 10 more kilos, but I guess I could then get it taken in if I need to wear it later.

Any ideas taken.

Thanks

Gail

I just had a search and found a place at Underwood (Compton Rd) that does bridal and formal, and has hire options, so maybe try them or other places that have formal as well as bridal. Not sure where abouts in Brisbane you are, but a lot of the time you will find if you go to smaller places they tend to have bridal and formal shops which generally have hire options. (ie Ipswich, or maybe redcliffe, or logan area).

sorry im not too sure i haven't had to do this.

anyway the place is called: After Five Formals (http://www.after5.com.au/)
thats the website.
This (http://www.yellowpages.com.au/search/postCategorySearch.do?headingCode=26220&bookId=21&sortByAlphabetical=false&businessType=formal+wear+hire&sortByDistance=false&sortByDetail=true&areaId=1064&locationClue=Greater+Brisbane%2C+Qld&stateId=4) is what my search turned up, most of it is useless but there maybe something good.

Thanks everyone. In the end I had a look in the shops and got a gorgeous strapless knee length dress in cream with magenta flower pattern for only $200 and when I got it home I found it came with detachable straps so it should be suitable for a wedding I'm going to in the UK next month too. As I've lost most of the weight off my top half already and it hides my tummy well, it should be good for a while. Also got a cream pashmina and magenta bag to go with it and I get to wear my wedding shoes with it as they're cream with lovely beading and comfy too!

Formal for a women is a formal dress. Try second hand stores as sometimes they have some very nice women's clothing for affordable prices.

Hi I don't know if you are pregnant or not, but I am just about to set up a post about some market research I am doing. I am looking at setting up an online maternity wear hire service that will service the whole of Australia. If you, or anyone else reading this has time to complete my survey please click on the link below - all the feedback from pregnant Mums, or people who are already Mums is very valuable to my progress with the business plan! I am also offering a $50 Myer voucher for the person who wins the draw for completing it. If you want to be in the draw, please remember to include your details in the final box! http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/maternityhiremarketresearch (http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/maternityhiremarketresearch)

Thanks guys!
