I'm still a few months off dealing with the problem but I've been thinking about possible food allergies in my DS.
I'm pretty worried about starting solids with him (but not considering until 6 months)! Are there recommendations of what foods to use initially? Or which foods you should only try babies with when sitting in a hospital cafeteria? Lol

Back when my girls were babies, the guidelines were to begin solids at four months.
That being the case, I had no problems with allergies.
My girls' first food was mashed pumpkin. Added meat (boiled it with the vegies) from six months.
DDs 1 & 2 hated rice cereal, so I didn't give it to them.
DD3 loved it with fruit puree (apple, pear etc).
All the custards followed once they liked the taste of savoury foods.
It is a big step, that requires patience and time.
Good luck whatever you decide to do. :)
the relatively new 6 month rule is because of childhood diabetes and irritable bowel syndrome more than allergies (or so i was told, things have changed soooo much in 4 years!)
pear is the lowest allergen food. i'd stay away from rice cereal unless its organic (check label, some have rosemary extract). pumpkin and stone fruit are also good. stay away from wheat, strawberries and egg.
lol about the cafeteria
