Hi everyone,
I need to ask a TMI question. I was wondering how long your AF goes for. I think I have very long ones. For the 1st 2-3 days it's heavy red blood, then for the next 2 days it's light and red. Then for next 3-5 days it's dark brown spotting.
this month seems to have gone on forever. It started 12 days ago and last Wed-Thurs it had pretty much stopped. Then on Fri cd10 very very very dark brown blood appeared and was light-med flow. It continued lightly over the weekend and today it's stopped altogether. So this AF has lasted 12 days. That seem odd to anyone else?

How long is your AF???

Hi Karena

Once a month, AF comes to stay with me .... uninvited.

She's painful and the cow doesn't move out for 10-12 glorious fun-filled days

I thought that when I had children it may change ... and then I had Ben. So then I thought it may change after I had another ... and then I had Carter.

She's still here and stays just as long as she did before.

Mine follows the pill cycle. It starts on the Friday and doesn't finish until the Monday a week later (10 days in all) and is HEAVY from the get go. Ever since I had Raleigh it has been very heavy and very painful. AF is a beeyatch LOL :)

Oh man, that has to be tough Karena! I am lucky mine only goes for about 3-5 days. Days 1-2 are very heavy and 3-4 are light and sometimes a day 5 I get some last minute spotting.

My AF is also 5-6 days...only 2 days max of heavy flow the rest light flow ....you must be exhausted with an AF of that length...how are your iron levels?

Yeah, I was going to ask about Iron as well. Thats nearly as much time on as it is off

I do make sure that when AF is here I eat more red meat and if I feel really run down then I take iron tablets. But this how it's always been for me so I just cope with it. I usually sleep great when I'm having AF because I do get more tired.

I get it very bad too! It usually goes for about 8 days or so and it's really painful! The first few days are just awful, i'm usually doubled over in pain. I used to take the pill constantly (only taking a break every 5 or 6 months) because i just couldn't handle it. Now i'm off the pill but they haven't been too bad yet, thank goodness!

Mine are all over the shop since having Eloise. I'm on the pill so I finish on the Friday, then AF doesn't come until maybe Monday, then she trickles on for a day or so, then I have spotting for about a day. Pathetic really.

Karena, that doesn't sound too much fun.

AF arrives about every 28 days and hangs around for 5 days three days quite heavy and then two very light days.

Wendy, great dog!!

I really just answered this thread so I could have the top four recent posts on the TTC section of the thread. I'm just a big dag really.

I don't get mine very often (I have polycystic ovary syndrome).

However one question though while we are on the topic - I haven't breastfeed for about 6wks and my DD is now 13wks, when does AF come back?? (Not that I am complaining - just that we don't use anything if you know what I mean and well I don't want another hospital visit in 9mths).

I know I know I should be using protection but I just haven't got around to buying or organising any protection.

I get 2-3 days of spotting then 5 days of af(2 heavy days, the rest medium to light) then 1 more day of spotting. Before i had my ds i used to have only 4 days and no spotting. grrrrrrr

You can still ovulate and not get a period, although this usually only happens while you are still BF. Maybe your body is just taking it's time to get back to normal hormone levels.... get some sort of protection happening and enjoy no AF!!

My AF has always been the same before and after 2 pg's. 2 days heavy, 1 day light to spotting, 1 day nothing at all, 1 day heavy and that's it. I feel so sorry for you girls who get them for a week or more - I would go crazy!!. "They" say that 7 to 10 days is average.
