Hi,
I was just wondering if any of you took your children on your honeymoon?
DF and I don't like the idea of getting someone else to look after DS1 & DS2. DS1 will be trning 3 shortly after we get married so we thought that we could have a family holiday instead. Does that make sense?

We didnt have an extended honeymoon - we spent 2 nights in a nice hotel in the City - without the kids. My parents had them, which meant that we could enjoy ourselves (iykwim :D :p ), but also knew that they were only 15km away if we were needed.

Honestly, those two nights (our wedding night included in that) felt like a week - it was so nice to have just the two of us, and relish in the newlywed feeling without being parents.

If you do the family holiday, it wont feel like a celebration of your wedding I dont think - just a family holiday at the same time.

good luck with your decision!

ETA - DS was 3 yrs old and DD was 18 mths at the time.

We aren't taking ours with us! I can't imagine it being a 'honeymoon' with all the kids it would be just a normal holiday :D

Yes, we will be taking DS with us.

The novelty hasn't worn off yet and I am still breastfeeding so he will be coming with us.

One of the perks of being born before your parents get married I suppose!
