i was wondering how long should it take for motilium to kick in >
I have a four week old - and she is only 110 grams heavier than birth weight...
We saw the peadiatrician on Friday bubs hasn't put on enough weight so got a script for motilium as i have been feeding her constanly and my milk is not satisfying her...
i have been on it since friday and the dr said i should be expressing 60mls each side when it kicks in...
last week i was lucky to get 10ml each side - (inbetween feeds - trying to stimilate milk ) and now i am expressing around 60-70mls total.... so i don't know if i should be getting 120 mls yet or is it too soon.
I have read that you can increase the dose of motilium and was wondering whether that would help my milk - bubs has had 8 feeds today and i have expressed about 2 times inbetween this (i was able to express a total of 140 mls between the two sessions) . This morning she slept and i expressed and only got a total of 60mls on 'full' boobs.
Should i really be getting 120mls each session??? - am i starving my bubs - i have been giving her 30mls of the expressed breast milk after the feed because she is still looking and i can't get any more milk from her feeding....
I am just not sure whether she is getting enough milk - i can't purely express because - i can only get 60-70mls and i am just assuming she is getting more when she feeds. I have until friday to get 120 grams on her or i have to look at giving her formula - which i really don't want to do but obviously i don't want to starve her either.
thanks
