Ok...now after almost 3 hours of trying, I finally put my DD for her first nap...gosh, I'm exhausted (and so is she). The past week has been very interesting, her daytime sleep pattern is kind of wierd. Some of you who have read my threads probably know that my DD is a catnapper but great night sleeper. She sleeps in a hammock which is in my bedroom at night, and sleeps in a bassinet downstairs during the day. It's quite easy to put her to sleep at night (knock woods!), I just give her a bottle, put her in the hammock, turn on her favourite lullaby and maybe pat her a little bit and she can go right to her dreamland. She now only wakes up around 2am and 5am for feeds and gets up around 7am.

Her daytime sleeping although is a bit difficult but I have been coping with it quite well. Until recently, she is becoming so difficult to feed. She'd trash around, fuss and scream when I try to feed her so the only I can get her to eat is when she is lying in her bassinet or asleep! She has reflux so I know why she fusses during feedings. She's been choking during feeds lately as well.

Her eating is very erratic - she only has about 30-60ml a time and needs to be fed very frequently (she's almost 10wks old!) Not only that I waste lots of formula but I'm so tired to keep giving her bottles every half and hour. I try to make her drink more but she just can't because of her reflux.

I have an appointment with her paed on Thursday and I certainly will talk to him about it, but in the meantime I just want to do something... I'm reading Tracy Hogg's books (The secrets of the baby whisperer & The baby whisperer solves all your problems) and I know I have to put her on a routine. The problem is I don't know what and how I should start a routine with reflux baby. She probably suggests something but I just don't have time to finish the books right now. Has anyone read her books and is able to tell me what method I could use?

Very true - this weeks problems may seem like a distant memory next week.

I just thought I'd mention that alternative therapists often have success with reflux and a miriad of different things that upset babies. I saw a very good chiro for my back after ds was born and he specialises in babies. He said he has great success treating reflux, sleeping disorders etc, and often there is a physiological reason why it occurs. He said the changes are amazing after a few visits.

Maybe worth thinking about or investigating chiropractic, osteopath, bowen therapy, body balancing or any of the other weird and wonderful therapies.

Cathy, yes I've been thinking about chiro/osteopath too. My DH used to have a great chiro but the guy left his job become a business owner and I don't think he specialises in babies. D oyou live in Sydney? Do you think it's possible to give me your chiro's details? You can PM me if you don't want to leave the details here.

Thanks! :p

No, I'm in Melbourne so I can't help much.

This might be worth checking out though:
